duckandwaffle is a true London institution. Perched on the 40th floor of the Salesforce Tower, it offers stylish dining with unbeatable views of the city.

Brunch is the standout experience here, with the signature duck and waffle being the must-try. Tender duck, crisp waffle, runny egg and a delicious sweet/salty combo of flavours. I also loved the caramelised banana waffle. This dish was rich and indulgent with its decadent chocolate sauce.

Not everything hit the mark though. The Colombian eggs were nicely creamy, but the avocado toast that came with them fell flat.

That said, the restaurant’s 24/7 opening hours and one-of-a-kind setting make it a destination worth experiencing.

luso.restaurant is a brand new modern Portuguese restaurant that’s already cooking like it’s been here for years. The seasonal menu is mouthwatering; the kind that makes you want to order everything.

We somehow did narrow down our choices, so here’s everything we picked with my favourites highlighted:
- Sourdough bread
- Clams with garlic and coriander ✨
- Spider crab
- Lobster rice ✨
- Suckling pig ✨
- Almond cake ✨
- Chocolate mousse ✨

What really impressed me is that Luso feels so polished already. The staff know the menu inside out and the service is seamless. It’s on the pricier side, but well worth it. Trust me, this is one to save — you’ll want to be first in line.

At amruthauk, you can get a nine-dish set menu for just £29 *and* refill them all for free. This BYOB, vegan spot serves up hearty curries, vibrant salads, and moreish snacks — all part of a set menu that’s such good value. And if nine dishes isn’t enough, upgrade to thirteen for just £34.

The warm service blew me away — they even surprised us with tea on the house after our meal. And what else makes this place stand out? They have amazing community programs — like giving meals in exchange for volunteering.

Here’s everything we had as part of the set menu, with my favourites highlighted:
- Buddha curry
- Seasonal curry (Thai red curry) ✨
- Chef’s special (onion bhaji) ✨
- Crispy pakora ✨
- Satueed mungbean sprouts
- Sesame slaw
- Kale salad ✨
- Beetroot gazpacho ✨
- Pickle plate
- Coconut and tamarind chutney
- Mint and coriander chutney
- Cashew cheese
- Basmati rice

It feels rare to find somewhere that puts so much emphasis on community and hospitality in London.

Tucked away on a quiet Clapham side street is crispin_london – a restaurant that’s all about bold, seasonal sharing plates. This is their second spot (the first is in Shoreditch), and it’s bringing that cool East London energy to South West – think industrial interiors and candle-lit tables, perfect for date nights or intimate dinners.

The star dishes? The smoky aubergine with harissa and fennel crumb – such a satisfying crunch – and perfectly cooked pork that melts in your mouth. Even the bread and butter is a standout. When this much thought and care goes into the basics, you know it’s going to be a good meal.

We left obsessed with the food, the warm service, and the cosy, intimate feel. This is one to save for your next night out.

At this cheap and cheerful restaurant, you pick a classic Thai dish (think red curry, pad Thai or panang curry) and what type of vegetable or protein to go with it for under £8! Yep, think prawn pad Thai for £7.95 or Thai green curry with chicken for £6.95. Some of the specialist dishes like massaman curry are priced a bit higher, but everything is still below £9 at lunch 😱 Now I know where to satisfy my Thai food cravings!

Bustling food market boxhallcity has just launched their bottomless brunch, which is £50pp for 90 minutes of drinks and a brunch dish from one of their traders. For brunch, my favourite trader here are the breakfast bap experts eggslutuk.

This brunch is perfect for groups of friends who struggle to pick a place because there’s something for everyone here. Plus, you get to enjoy some entertainment thanks to the resident DJ and live singer.

Given the casual, self serve setting, I do think that £50pp is pricey though. I also think that more traders could offer brunch-specific dishes on their menu, since it is bottomless brunch after all!

My August highlights ✨

1️⃣ This genius dish is a brilliant combination of sweet and salty flavours. The contrast of textures with that light, fluffy doughnut accompanied by the crispy crackling is perfect too. I’m dying to try the rest of fromtheashesbbq’s menu.

2️⃣ I loved everything we ordered at new modern Filipino restaurant belly_bistro, but it was these cured scallops in a deliciously creamy coconut milk and chilli pepper that came out top. Belly is one of my highested rated restaurants this year so far.

3️⃣ Jose Pizarro has opened up another restaurant on trendy Bermondsey street, lolo_bermondseystreet. Although it didn’t quite live up to the exacting standards of my favourite restaurant of his, Pizarro, I was blown away by this particular dish. The pork was tender, the confit peppers sweet and soft.

4️⃣ You know the biryani is going to be good at a place called thebiryanicentre. The texture of the right was perfectly fluffy and the mutton just fell off the bone.

5️⃣ eggslutuk are the undisputed breakfast bap experts. They use the highest quality ingredients to take a deceptively simple sandwich to the next level. My go-to order is actually the Fairfax, though I fell in love with the bacon, egg and cheese too.

6️⃣ farangldn is one of London’s OG Thai restaurants, and currently holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I tried their 6-course tasting menu and think every dish was amazing. This soup was well-balanced and the chicken so tender.

7️⃣ Singburi 2.0 is the most hyped opening this year. Although it’s not the best Thai restaurant I’ve had this year (that title belongs to Anglo Thai, followed by Farang), they do have solid dishes. The aubergine pad phet was delicious, thanks to that rich, umami flavour and perfectly soft texture.

8️⃣ noisyoyster.london is yet another hyped opening this year. Whilst I thought the price point was high, there were definitely a couple of highlights on the menu. The crab orecchiette is a must order. It’s so flavourful, thanks to the abundance of crab.

9️⃣ If you’ve followed me for a while, then three.uncles needs no introduction. This is the best Cantonese roast meat you’ll find in London. Enough said! 2025-08-27 21:48:21 .. 0 -100% 20 -38%
First time at thebigfeastival and I’m sure it won’t be my last 🥳 Love that food is as much a focus here as the music. I was seriously impressed with the food lineup, which was made up of not just your typical street food traders but popular restaurants that set up shop over the weekend too.

Here’s everything we tried, with my favourites highlighted:
- acmefirecult ✨
- madeofdoughldn
- sen__noods ✨
- gauchogroup ✨

I’m already sad that this year’s festival season is over for me, so will just have to think about going next year!

This is a reminder to support your local neighbourhood restaurants. thebiryanicentre does incredible Indian food for a very reasonable price. Obviously you need to order their biryani but you can’t go wrong with anything here!

- Beetroot tikki
- Samosa
- Mutton biryani ✨
- Veggie biryani
- Dal makhni

Comment BONUS if you stayed until the end — IYKYK 😉 If you’re looking for your next summer dinner spot, this is it. On trendy Bermondsey Street, decorated chef José Pizarro’s new restaurant lolo_bermondseystreet is bringing modern Spanish flair and European cooking to the neighbourhood. The menu is full of vibrant, refreshing dishes, and the setting is absolutely gorgeous.

Here’s everything we ordered:
- Devilled eggs with anchovy
- Tuna crudo
- Watermelon salad, jamón ibérico ✨
- Ibérica pork and confit pepper ✨
- Cuttlefish with rice (disappointing so luckily this was a special and no permanent on the menu)

farangldn is an OG in the London foodie scene. This Thai restaurant holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which recognises it as being excellent quality and value. We tried their £65 6-course menu, which doesn’t miss a beat. Each dish from start to finish is so flavourful.

Here’s everything we had:
- Miang kham bites: don’t underestimate the number of ingredients that go into this bitesized dish, which packs a serious punch. All the flavours are so distinct.
- Fried chicken: this was coated in a moreish sweet and salty fish sauce glaze, and so crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside.
- Cured sea trout: this was a little too citrusy for me, though the sweet shallots balanced it nicely.
- Smoked chicken hot and sour soup: the soup was tangy, almost acting like a palette cleanser. The chicken was so tender.
- Chilli jam mussels: it was actually the sauce I liked best in this dish. So full of umami and perfect to dip this insane crisp turmeric butter roti in.
- Seabass: the presentation was impressive, as was the wonderfully flaky texture.

So much thought goes into each of these dishes, and the execution is fantastic. I love the neighbourhood restaurant vibe here too. One critique is I wasn’t a fan of their cocktail selection. That being said, If you want to treat yourself to a special and memorable meal, go to Farang.

yauatchalondon has just launched their unlimited dim sum brunch for just £45pp 🥳 You can order a set of steamed dim sum (har gau, siu mai and a veggie option), fried dim sum (venison puff, veggie spring roll), and bao (char siu bao, veggie bao) as many times as you like. Note you have to order the full set of either steamed, fried, or bao - you can’t just oder har gau as many times as you’d like!

Follow that up with a main, side, and dessert per person, and you’ll be absolutely stuffed. I’d recommend the stir fried rib eye or sweet and spicy cod curry for your mains, and skip the rather random wasabi prawns on the menu. There’s no choice for dessert, just a souffle pancake, but we definitely aren’t complaining. It’s light, airy and topped with a satisfying honeycomb crumble.

Overall, I think this brunch is good value, especially because it includes some of their iconic dishes like the venison puff or scallop siu mai.

noisyoyster.london sure is making lots of noise as the latest trendy restaurant to open in Shoreditch. Jacuzzi is a breathtaking restaurant that transports diners to the Italian coast, thanks to the lush greenery and vibrant tiles filling the space. The maximalist decor and colourful crockery are distinctly bigmamma.uk, which is the restaurant group that runs Jacuzzi and other splashy Italian restaurants (pun intended).

Our starters were a delight, especially the airy focaccia and rich veal tartare. For mains, lobster risotto always makes an impact. The lobster was sweet and nicely cooked, though the risotto itself could’ve been more flavourful. Equally, the paccheri alla norma could’ve been more punchy. Generally, I prefer the pasta options at the other Big Mamma spots. The truffle pasta, carbonara and crab linguine are all winners at Circolo Popolare, for example. Next time, I’ll be sure to try out the other mains at Jacuzzi.

Despite the pasta not quite living up to Big Mamma’s usual standards on this occasion, I do think the atmosphere alone makes Jacuzzi worthy of a visit.

belly_bistro is a new modern Filipino restaurant, combining the cuisine’s unique flavours with French Bistro-style cooking. The result is a spectacular fusion menu with stand-out dishes, including one of the best steaks I’ve had all year.

Here’s everything we ordered, with my favourites highlighted:
- Smoked trout kinilaw ⭐️
- Tempura cod pandesal ⭐️
- Cured scallops ⭐️
- Wagyu picanha ⭐️
- Seafood caldereta ⭐️
- Pandan rice
- Ube tiramisu

Our meal started off with a bang. The kinilaw was zingy and spicy, yet still well-balanced with undertones of coconut. The juicy scallops came with a delicious creamy, buttery sauce. We slurped up every last bit of this. The cod pandesal is like an elevated Fillet o Fish. They nailed the texture of the pandesal, fluffy on the inside but with a slight crisp.

Mains were just as good as our starters. The seafood caldereta was hearty and delivered on the complex flavours that this dish is known for. The wagyu steak was exceptional. The meat was tender and the fat just melted in your mouth. The sauce could have been more peppery to do bistek justice though, and the pandan wasn’t very distinct in the rice.

We obviously had to make room for that show-stopping ube tiramisu. Great textures, though the alcohol flavour somewhat masked the ube.

Overall, Belly is the perfect neighbourhood restaurant. Relaxed and intimate atmosphere, warm service, and a menu that will have you wanting to try everything. More nods to the Philippines in the decor would’ve helped the restaurant stand out more though.

Dine in the clouds ☁️ Few restaurants in London feel as special as hutongshard. On the 33rd floor of the Shard, it boasts impressive views of the city. The sophisticated interior is carefully curated, with antique Chinese pieces even sourced from museums.

Their Dynasty brunch kicks off with free flow starters, followed by a side, main, and dessert each. fortunefriedchicken brings Thai street food’s bold, vibrant flavours to Spitalfields Market. As you might’ve guessed, their concise menu revolves around fried chicken. There are juicy wings and chunky tenders marinated in classic Thai spices, as well as chicken burgers. Recently, they’ve also launched new rice dishes and salads for those wanting something on the healthier side.

Here’s everything we ordered, with my favourites highlighted:
✔️ Chicken wings (original) ⭐️
✔️ Tenders (sweet chilli and kaffir lime)
✔️ Spicy Bangkok chicken burger
✔️ Stir fried chicken larb salad ⭐️
✔️ Thai basil chicken
.
I was impressed by their large, juicy wings. I’d love to try these in the other flavours! For those who can handle spice, I’d recommend the chicken larb salad — this packed a punch.
.
Whilst the flavours of the sweet chilli and lime sauce were well-balanced and bold, the tenders themselves were dry. Unfortunately, the spicy chicken burger was dry too and the flavours weren’t particularly bold compared to other things on the menu. They’ve just updated their menu, so this might be down to teething issues and an off day.

singburi_e1 2.0 has got to be London’s most hyped opening this year. If you don’t know the lore, let me catch you up: Singburi 1.0 reached cult-like status, thanks to their authentic and flavourful Thai dishes, no frills atmosphere, and limited service and confusing system that made getting a booking there an Olympic sport.

Since they announced the closure of their original branch, the foodie community and beyond have been waiting with bated breath for the launch of their new spot in Shoreditch. My friends and I booked *months* ago. I never made it to Singburi 1.0, so this review is based purely on my experience at their new opening.

Their menu is concise and changes frequently. It’s made up of classic London small plates, but is still relatively affordable. Between five of us, we ordered almost the entire menu and paid about £30pp for food (we skipped drinks). The best way to dine here is with a big group so you get to try a little bit of everything.

The highlights? Surprisingly, my top three favourite dishes were all vegetarian. I absolutely loved the aubergine pad phet. They nailed the texture here, with the aubergine so soft and creamy inside, but crisp on the outside. Equally loved by our table was the refreshing smoked tomato salad. I was surprised by the depth of flavour and how well-balanced this fishy, garlicky sauce was. Although it sounds simple, the stir-fried cabbage was also a winner with that slightly smoky, “wok hei” flavour coming through. Last but not least, I’d also recommend the lamb riblets, which were fatty, juicy, and flavourful.

A couple of dishes were less impressive (haddock was forgettable) and not great value for money (the £19 curry only came with 5 very small pieces of fish), but overall, I do think that Singburi sets a high standard.

We’re all used to unlimited drinks at a bottomless brunch, but Sticks n Sushi takes it to the next level with what feels like unlimited food too... Here’s everything we ate between two people:
- Spicy edamame
- Chicken karaage
- Tuna tartare bites
- Beef tataki
- Chicken gyoza
- Duck rice paper rolls
- Ebi panko maki
- Spicy tuna maki
- Tuna nigiri
- Salmon nigiri
- Fried chicken thigh skewer
- Pork skewer
- Sorbet
.
.
... I know, the list feels endless! Some highlights for me were the melt-in-the-mouth beef tataki and the satisfyingly crispy ebi panko maki. I’d skip the pork skewer (meat was dry) and the duck rolls were unfortunately forgettable. The nigiri could be improved with thicker cuts of fish. Although this brunch isn’t cheap, you do get an incredible amount of food. Plus, unlike other bottomless brunches, you can also switch between cocktails, beer, and wine.
