- First time at thebigfeastival and I’m sure it won’t be my last 🥳 Love that food is as much a focus here as the music. I was seriously impressed with the food lineup, which was made up of not just your typical street food traders but popular restaurants that set up shop over the weekend too. Here’s everything we tried, with my favourites highlighted: - acmefirecult ✨ - madeofdoughldn - sen__noods ✨ - gauchogroup ✨ I’m already sad that this year’s festival season is over for me, so will just have to think about going next year! - belly_bistro is a new modern Filipino restaurant, combining the cuisine’s unique flavours with French Bistro-style cooking. The result is a spectacular fusion menu with stand-out dishes, including one of the best steaks I’ve had all year. Here’s everything we ordered, with my favourites highlighted: - Smoked trout kinilaw ⭐️ - Tempura cod pandesal ⭐️ - Cured scallops ⭐️ - Wagyu picanha ⭐️ - Seafood caldereta ⭐️ - Pandan rice - Ube tiramisu Our meal started off with a bang. The kinilaw was zingy and spicy, yet still well-balanced with undertones of coconut. The juicy scallops came with a delicious creamy, buttery sauce. We slurped up every last bit of this. The cod pandesal is like an elevated Fillet o Fish. They nailed the texture of the pandesal, fluffy on the inside but with a slight crisp. Mains were just as good as our starters. The seafood caldereta was hearty and delivered on the complex flavours that this dish is known for. The wagyu steak was exceptional. The meat was tender and the fat just melted in your mouth. The sauce could have been more peppery to do bistek justice though, and the pandan wasn’t very distinct in the rice. We obviously had to make room for that show-stopping ube tiramisu. Great textures, though the alcohol flavour somewhat masked the ube. Overall, Belly is the perfect neighbourhood restaurant. Relaxed and intimate atmosphere, warm service, and a menu that will have you wanting to try everything. More nods to the Philippines in the decor would’ve helped the restaurant stand out more though. ⭐️ Rating: 9/10 💸 Price: Starters £8-£17 / Mains £22-£33 📍 Location: Kentish Town [pr invite] Where to eat in London, top London restaurants, London food, London foodie, London recommendations, best food in London, bottomless brunch in London, Filipino cuisine, Filipino food in London, wagyu steak
