What I Wish I Knew Before Visiting Cappadocia: - Balloon cancellations are real — especially in off-peak months. We visited in May, and after two cancellations, we sadly never got to fly. Always book your hot air balloon ride for your first morning so you have backup days if needed. - The balloons launch around 5:30 AM, and they’re gone by sunrise. If you want those dreamy views from your hotel balcony, you’ll need to be up before the sun. Trust me, it’s worth it. - Most cave hotels can arrange a private slot for you on their terrace for photo shoots (or if you just want to enjoy the moment by yourself) but they book out quickly so ask in advance - Some spots are more photogenic than others - make sure you book a hotel near Göreme or Uçhisar if you want those iconic views and to see the balloons fly at sunrise - Pack warm layers (even if you’re going in the summer!!) mornings are cold even during the summer and if you’re planning a hot air balloon ride don’t forget you’ll be flying before 6am! ➡️ Found this helpful?
