![It wouldn’t be our wedding without a touch of travel & aviation ✈️😬
When friends started calling us “Jelona,” we weren’t exactly fans… until we came up with the idea of turning our cocktail hour into an airplane cabin.
Suddenly, Jelona Airlines had a nice ring to it.
With dreamparis_wedding and revarteentertainment , we brought it to life: guests were greeted by ballerinas dressed as cabin crew, guided to champagne served on a custom Jelona Airlines trolley.
Yes - it’s a real, former TAP Portugal trolley custom-made for us 🙈
The moodlighting resembled what you’d find in a Dreamliner or an A350 cabin.
Performers folded paper airplanes filled with our old texts and DMs, and guests loved the little airplane pins. Instead of table numbers, we used city names with luggage-tag seating cards directing everyone to their “destination” 🌍
We tied the theme together with little touches, including airplane bottle-opener favors, a handmade airplane cake topper, and our incredible live artist inness.illustrations who sketched our guests against a Parisian backdrop, so they could take home a piece of the city with them 🫶🏽
Every detail was a reminder that our love story has always been about travel, aviation and adventure and this was our way of letting everyone on board with us 🤍

![The forecast in Paris had promised rain all week, and the day before our welcome party, there was a torrential downpour.
But when it mattered most, the skies opened and Paris gave us sunshine and pockets of blue 🌤️
When Jérôme and I met in 2018, the sky was scattered with puffy white clouds. I couldn’t stop talking about them & and Jérôme still laughs about how amazed he was that something so small could excite me so much. I wished for the same conditions on our wedding day 🥺
The day after our wedding, as we drove to the airport, it rained again.
These were the beautiful last moments before I went to get changed into my wedding gown. Duplex suite no. 306 at the shangrilaparis was a magical place to get ready in 🥹

It didn’t take us long to decide that Paris was where we wanted to get married 💍 Our story began there in May 2018, when I first messaged Jérôme to see if he was free to shoot around the city.
Little did we know how much Paris would come to mean to us 🥰
Paris also felt like the perfect meeting point and a middle ground for our friends and family who traveled from dozens of countries to celebrate with us 🫶🏽
Few addresses are as iconic as shangrilaparis . Though we had both visited the property before, it wasn’t until this past May that we stepped into the hall in which we’d exchange our vows.
During that visit we knew without a doubt that we had chosen the right place 🥹
Also, wow, I’m proud of us for mastering this transition so smoothly from the first frame we filmed in May to our actual wedding day in September - thanks to our content creator storiesmatter 😎

![We got married on a sunny Friday evening in one of Paris’s most iconic addresses, shangrilaparis ☀️🤍
It was once the private residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte, Napoleon’s grand-nephew. Now the hotel is a living piece of history, with iconic views of the Eiffel Tower.
Our ceremony took place in the Grand Salon, the crown jewel of the residence 😍 The forecast had promised rain all week, and the night before our welcome party there was torrential downpour.
But when it mattered most, Paris gave us sunshine and pockets of blue sky for two days straight 🌤️
It was magical.
My gown was custom made in Ukraine by Anna Sposa on special order from lizaraynewyork . Standing in my dress in the hall once reserved for royalty, I felt like I stepped into that world 🥹
Paris is where our story first began years ago, and standing in that room, full of history, and our closest friends and family, was truly divine timing if I’ve ever experienced it.

![Today is my birthday, and this year I want to dedicate it to the little girl in the second frame 🫶🏽
I think she’d be proud.
Because the little girl in the third photo once believed she’d never be beautiful. At barely 60 pounds, with no hair, no eyebrows, no eyelashes- just skin and bones- she was convinced no one could ever love her.
For more than a decade, she carried the weight of that belief. That she’d never be loved, never be normal, and that her scars and differences would never be accepted.
But boy she was wrong.
This month, she’s marrying her best friend 🤍She’s surrounded by the most incredible circle of friends and a family whose love and support never faded.
She’s thriving.
I often meet people who say they don’t like birthdays & to each their own.
But when I think back to that little ten year girl who was clinging to life, how could I look her in the eyes and say, “we don’t like birthdays ? 🎂”

![The phallus is often censored in many places around the world 🙈
But in Bhutan, it’s proudly displayed as a charm for protection and fertility 🤱🏻
You’ll see them painted on homes, hanging as carved wooden talismans from rooftops, and even worn on children’s necklaces to ward off evil.
The tradition dates back to the teachings of a 15th-century Buddhist saint known as the Divine Madman. Drukpa Kunley wandered the Himalayas preaching enlightenment through outrageous acts like drinking, womanizing, and using humor and sexuality to expose hypocrisy.
To him, the phallus was a spiritual weapon against evil and a symbol of fertility, protection, and freedom from judgment. The story is deeper - but I’ll leave that rabbit hole to you 😉
Tied to this tradition is Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, where couples from around the world come to be blessed in hopes of conceiving.
Monks perform a fertility blessing using a wooden phallus and a bow and arrow, which are touched to the woman’s head in a ritual said to bring fertility and protect the child.
Many couples who conceive after visiting the temple send photos of their babies back to Chimi Lhakhang with gratitude. Inside, there are baby photos from around the world.
I find it interesting that in many countries around the world, body parts are often tied to sexuality. And we’re taught to shy away from the thought of them 😁
Meaning really does depend on where you’re standing.

![Time slows down for Hisao Mitani and his tortoise, Bon-chan, taking their daily stroll in Tokyo 🤍
Once small enough to fit in Mr. Mitani’s hand, Bon-chan has grown into a 70 kg local celebrity, often dressed in adorable seasonal outfits as he makes his way through town 🐢
Hisao Mitani didn’t know that the little shell of an African spurred tortoise would become his [massive] lifelong companion for nearly 28 years and counting.
Bon-chan moves at his own slow and steady pace, completely unfazed by the city’s energy. Mr. Mitani walks beside him patiently. Bon-chan leads the way.
People stop, shocked at first but then they smile and take photos - it’s impossible not to be charmed.
This was by far one of my favorite days in Tokyo - we just got incredibly lucky. Some say that Mr. Mitani walks Bon-chan only a few times a week and at random times. Their walks only last about an hour.
If you’re lucky enough to see them, be mindful - respect their space and ask before taking photos. My friend spoke to Mr. Mitani, who happily shared stories about his life with Bon-chan (in Japanese).
He also speaks some basic English, and was happy to answer a few questions!

Pro tip: If you’re dreaming of going, keep an eye on airlines like Qatar Airways, which often release excellent points redemptions for business class to Malé ✈️
According to Expedia’s data, February is the sweet spot when it comes to both affordability and great weather ☀️

![One of the most challenging airports on earth is located in
Paro, Bhutan 🇧🇹
Only a few qualified pilots are allowed to land a commercial plane here and drukair_royalbhutanairlines is the national airline & flag carrier (one of two airlines cleared to land at Paro) ✈️
Paro Airport is located in a Himalayan valley at an elevation of over 7,000ft, and is surrounded by mountain peaks that reach up to 18,000ft.
There’s no radar guidance, no instrument landing system, and no straight-in approach. Everything is flown manually, and using some visual references on descent through tight terrain.
To land on Runway 15, the aircraft goes through a series of high-banked descending turns, and the final turn happens just seconds before aligning with the runway, which only becomes visible in the last few hundred feet 🛬
The landing is on on a runway that’s just 6,445 feet long (or 7400 according to other sources) and at high altitude, so theres little margin for error. Add in unpredictable valley winds and sudden weather changes, and it’s easy to see why flights are restricted to daylight hours and clear visibility only.
Pilots are specially trained in visual circling approaches, terrain awareness, and aircraft performance at high-density altitudes.

In the days leading up to our civil ceremony, and even that very morning, it had been raining nonstop, with the forecast showing a 75% chance of thunderstorms.
But as we got into the taxi to head to City Hall, the clouds started to lift and the sun peeked through ☀️
I quietly thanked the universe with every passing block 🥹
We asked our best friends, tinalee & melissa , to be our witnesses, a gesture that meant so much to us 🫶🏽 They both flew into New York just to stand by our side for the [very short] civil ceremony, and that commitment meant more than we can ever put into words. As if their presence wasn’t already the best gift, they also surprised us with the most magical picnic between New York’s two iconic bridges 😍
We ended the day - which also marked our two year anniversary - with a cozy dinner hosted by my family 🤍 The whole day felt like a dream. I didn’t have my phone. I was just floating, like I was on a big, soft cloud, completely wrapped in love by the people closest to me.
I can’t even imagine what our big wedding day will feel like 🫢

I finally upgraded my laptop for the first time in 6 years from the 2019 MacBook Pro to the new 15” MacBook Air (2025).
What first sold me was the new sky-blue color way 😍
It was also time for something lighter, faster, and most importantly, something that doesn’t need to be plugged in every few hours. My daily workflow includes Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, dozens of tabs, and way too many spreadsheets … and this new setup is handling super well.
I’m honestly surprised by how much lighter my workflow feels, both literally and figuratively. The only downside? I bring my laptop everywhere now because it’s just so easy to carry 😅

![One of the shortest A380 flights in the world is from Dubai to Jeddah with emirates – clocking in at just under 3 hours!
Since I had some expiring EK points, I decided to put them to good use on the iconic double-decker. I redeemed 30K points and paid about $220 in fees for this one way flight.
This particular A380 is one of Emirates’ older models, featuring just two classes: business and economy. It was a dry flight to Saudi Arabia, but the mocktails definitely didn’t disappoint 🍷 Overall, it was a solid flight and a nice introduction to the premium product.
Believe it or not, this was my first Emirates business class flight! With A380 opportunities becoming more scarce, I’m really glad I got to check it off my list.
Up next: Emirates First Class in a few days - I am stoked for that one! ✈️

![The Ishtar Gate of Babylon is one of the most beautiful relics of ancient Mesopotamia and it was the grand entrance to the city of Babylon 😍
This huge, vibrant blue gate was dedicated to the Goddess Ishtar and decorated with symbols of Babylon’s power and divine protection ✨
It’s my fourth time here - and my excitement doesn’t fade.
Although this is Babylon, Iraq, the gate behind me is not the original. The original Ishtar Gate is in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, where it was transported after the excavation of Babylon. Its removal is a good example of the ongoing debate about repatriating culturally significant artifacts to countries impacted by war and conflict.
The Iraqi government has repeatedly petitioned the German government to return the gate, and I truly hope they will eventually succeed.
