  • The runways of fashion brand bottegavenetaworld, which celebrates its 60th-anniversary next year, have become a must-watch space for fans of high-design seating. In 2022 they collaborated with the late, great gaetano.pesce on an entire runway as well as 400 unique stools in his signature resin; last year they introduced artisanal bean bag chairs into the cultural conversation, inspired by the Zanotta Sacco seat. This season, under the leadership of new creative director louise_trotter_, the house has once again turned to its roots in Venice for inspiration, working with the design brand 6am_glass on a suite of bespoke Murano glass stools. At the link in our bio, deputy editor sean_santiago has all the details on this season's scene-stealing seats.
  • When Ethel Kennedy died last fall at 96, her son Max Kennedy and his wife Vicki inherited the family's storied Hyannis Port retreat—a Victorian-style charmer built by a sea captain where Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel spent summers with their 11 children. "My siblings essentially had a vote and decided we were trustworthy stewards," Max tells ELLE Decor in an exclusive interview. The home needed updating while preserving cherished heirlooms, from a painting purchased by Jacqueline Kennedy to a dining table crafted from the family’s sailboat Glide. It’s a home full of history and memories. Champion swimmer “Sandy Eiler would come into our rooms just before seven o'clock every morning and force-march us down to the ocean to do laps," Max recalls of childhood summers. The 1960 election returns were tallied here, with JFK walking across the lawn "not knowing whether he would become President of the United States." Designer Ann von Kreuter partnered with serenaandlily to create a casual, durable space with coastal blues and sea-glass tones. Privacy was a priority for the renovation—"The family doesn't get much traffic on their private road, but the house across the street was once owned by Taylor Swift, so there are occasional lookers," notes Serena & Lily's Allyson McGrath. Now refreshed and welcoming, "every bedroom has been full except for a handful of nights," Vicki says. Max adds, "One of the first things everyone says when they walk in is: 'Grandma would have loved this.'" • Brooklyn design duo Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum—the brownstoneboys—discovered their Bedford-Stuyvesant project had special history: it was the original home of Susanna E.C. Russell, one of Brooklyn's first female developers. Between 1871 and 1892, Russell developed nearly 90 row houses in the Bedford Historic District, often serving as owner, architect, and builder simultaneously—unusual for a woman in the Gilded Age building industry. Her designs feature distinctive feminine flourishes: delicate plaster tapestries, graceful curves in woodwork, and ornate ceiling medallions. The twelve-month restoration balanced Russell's feminine architectural vision with the homeowner's masculine European aesthetic. The designers stripped decades of dark varnish from woodwork, reconstructed missing plasterwork, and added a steel-and-glass arched doorway to create a new parlor-floor kitchen. Rather than restoring details to perfection, they preserved patina and wear, honoring the home's 135-year journey. The project hashtag says it all: #SavingSusanna.
