Visiting a client’s home years later and seeing how it’s been lived in is such a lovely feeling.

Ebba and Nina took a little trip down memory lane, remembering what inspired this project and how it all came together.

Last week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Teni, one of my Design Launch mentees, who took part in the program while balancing her busy life as both a designer and a parent.

She shared with me how the journey was for her and what she feels she has gained from taking Design Launch.

It was such a pleasure hearing all the wonderful things she had to say, and I’m so grateful she agreed to be on camera so I could share her journey with you.

I’ve watched Teni pour so much of herself into learning everything she could from what I had to offer, and it’s been such a blessing to see her grow in her career over the past few months.

This video is just a snippet from our conversation, and I’m excited to share more in the coming weeks. Follow along if you’d like to see.

10 surprise questions in 10 minutes 🕰️

Keeping my answers short was much harder than I expected!

Anyone who knows me, knows Im not a woman of few words…😂

But also will understand that condensing years of interior design, stories, and thoughts into a few seconds is almost impossible!

Still, it was fun, and maybe you’ll get a little glimpse into how my mind works.

The full video length was too long so I’ll post the last 5 questions really soon! 2025-09-11 17:31:32 10 surprise.. 75 -20% 3 -19%
Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impact.

Here are 5 small design elements that can instantly impact a space:

• Bespoke cushions - Tailored pieces that bring character and cohesion.

• Handles & hardware - These are like jewellery for your interiors.

• Layering textures - Adds depth, warmth, and richness to any room.

• Beautiful hanging solutions - Often overlooked, but they instantly refine a wardrobe space, or even act as a stylish display on the wall.

• Curtain length - Nothing says “unfinished” like curtains that fall short (literally).

Training your eye for details like these is a key part of becoming a confident designer.

Inside Design Launch, I teach aspiring and developing designers how to spot, choose, and layer details like these to create beautifully considered interiors.

Want to learn how to refine your design eye? Comment “DETAILS” and I’ll send you the module where I dive into the small design choices that make a big impact. 2025-08-28 18:27:15 Somet.. 14 -85% 2 -46%
The first turn into our Thames-front apartment reveals the dining room, where a bay window invites you to sit and watch the river drift by.

Above, the Isamu Noguchi Akari pendant lamp centres the space, naturally drawing your gaze upward. I’ve always felt charm lies just beyond what’s expected, so we hung art in the corners, breaking the usual rhythm, adding character to the room.

We placed large speakers on either side of the leather sofa, letting its beautiful leather and sculptural lines hold their own in the space.

If you’d like to see how we designed the rest of the apartment, there are more reels on the ‘Thames-front apartment’ on my page. 2025-08-26 22:58:24 The first turn .. 48 -49% 1 -73%
The past few weeks, I’ve been a little quieter on here, as I’ve been spending time away with the people I love and cherish.

I had the most beautiful few days at my family home, watching my mother pick treasures in a wildflower meadow, a reminder that it’s her eye for composition and beauty in the details that inspired me in the first place. While there, I stumbled upon a large photo of myself from my school graduation, tucked away in my parents’ attic, which made me laugh.

A few days soaking up the sun in Greece were equally nourishing, catching sunsets each evening, savouring delicious food, and embracing the simple joys of life.

Life at home is often busy, as it is for most people, so this time away has been a precious reminder to slow down and truly enjoy the little things. 2025-08-21 18:25:16 The past few week.. 127 +35% 7 +88%
The first 30 seconds in a room says everything.

The client had a beautiful pair of antique mirrors that we decided to use as a single unit by placing them side by side. This small, unexpected way of hanging them immediately catches your eye; brining these delicate mirrors into the spotlight.

The oversized, three-arm ceiling lamp by Serge Mouille is contemporary and bold, yet its light and spindly design doesn’t impose on the space. It draws you in without overwhelming the room.

Rooms in Rooms & The Art of Zoning…

In this scheme, vintage rugs played two roles. Beyond softening the space, they created two distinct zones: one for sleeping and one for rest.

There are so many benefits to having plants in your home, they can purify the air, boost your mood, and add a touch of nature to your space.

But there are also a few things you need to keep in mind:

- Do you have a watering plan ?

- Does the spot you’ve chosen offer enough natural light?

- Is there enough space on the surface for them to grow?

Zoning a room is key to making the most of a space and guiding people on how to use it in an inviting way.

In this living room, we’ve created three zones: A natural dining area, a side social spot and a more intimate relaxing corner.

The rug helps define the social zone, keeping some chair legs on and others off, subtly offering a natural pathway while still holding the space together.

Creating soft storage…

Beyond creating a sense of homeliness, one of the salient challenges in a rental property is knowing what to invest in.

What things can be taken with the client when they move again and how they might use them was something we considered when creating this dressing room.

This soft storage solution functions perfectly as a wardrobe, but these floor-to-ceiling curtains could easily be repurposed or redeployed in another setting.

Unexpected encounters…

Looking back to one of our very first projects.

This project is a wonderful example of how sometimes the best way to showcase art is the most unexpected.

Many of the artworks we wanted to curate were quite small, so we wanted to find ways to give the pieces a conceptual presence in the space.

Spotlighting the space around the artworks was one of the ways we did this, playing with where the eye naturally focuses and creating unexpected features of the artwork within the shadows.

The collection of 8 frames, grouped in symmetrical quads, was another way we united a series of artworks. Additionally, to avoid unnecessary repetition, we played with the mounts to once more, subvert where the eye might naturally focuses.

When adding plants to your home, keep these three things in mind…

1. Scale & Placement: Large plants can fill dark corners or draw the eye to balance a space.
2. Care needs: To ensure plants thrive, consider watering, sunlight, and whether artificial light is an option.
3. Prevent stains: Planter trays can become a part of the design scheme while protecting surfaces.

Work with the architecture when you are hanging art. In this recent project, we used a dining room corner, to take full advantage of the wonderfully high ceilings. Hanging this pair of paintings in this way draws the eye upward, allowing them to interact with one another while making a statement about the Victorian high-ceilings splendor.

If you want to sharpen your eye and build confidence in your choices, you can join Ebba Thott in Design Launch.

Interior design isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces; it’s about understanding the people who live in them.

Let yourself be guided by communication psychology to better connect with your clients. This can greatly influence how we design spaces that truly resonate with them, shaping how they feel and interact with theirs surroundings.

In the Design Launch programme, I guide you through how to apply these techniques in your own projects, giving you the tools to not only create stunning designs but ones that form a real connection with your clients. 2025-03-19 17:41:52 Interior design isn’t.. 114 +21% 3 -19%
Wonderfully tall and drenched in a spectrum of dirty-mint to teal green, this kitchen is certainly one of our favourites. A custom cooker hood with painted brass accents enriches the soft green of the cabinets, while the deeper green of the tiled backsplash adds depth and interest to the space.

Designing a space that feels as rich and layered takes confidence, and that’s exactly what Ebba can help you build in Design Launch.
