- Long post: I wanted to share with our amazing community of friends that Tess is now in the palliative care portion of her life journey. She has Cushings and kidney disease and it's the kidney disease that's killing her. . . How long will that last? We have no idea but we will do everything possible to ensure a good quality of life. . As her bandana says, she's a big deal to me (and John). She stole our hearts the moment we met her. Her connection to me is strikingly similar to what I had with my first heart dog, Sam. She brightens every day ☀️ . I am in the anticipatory grief stage and I don't like it one bit. It cannot be denied, but I plan to talk about versus burying it. Many of us have been through it and eventually we all face it. I hope you'll take this journey with me. Feel free to ask questions.
- For Tess In 2012, our first dog, Sam, almost died. He had his right kidney removed. We were so thankful he was okay, but it made me stop and think about "everything." I wrote the “blog post” below (in the comments) and posted it when Sam died on June 23, 2014. Today, I updated the post to include Tess, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on August 18, 2025. The post follows in the comments.
- It's official - Tess has Cushings disease. . . We are off to the Vet this afternoon to determine her treatment plan. The good news is the disease IS treatable. We are hopeful she will respond to a treatment plan and get her appetite back. . . Thank you for loving her. We love you and appreciate your support. 💗
