  • If you’re a Tampa Bay Area resident, your feed’s likely getting flooded with #813day posts today, but I want to do mine a little differently. I feel like social media is oversaturated with a lot of the same restaurants in the same areas… Water Street, South Tampa, Hyde Park, etc. And, while I have some places I enjoy over there, I think the Tampa food scene gets a hell of a lot more interesting if you’re willing to hop in your car and drive a few miles away from all that, and expand your search a little. So, in an effort to get people to step outside of their comfort zones and try something new, I wanted to shine a light on some great spots I don’t see plastered all over Instagram on a daily basis. Hopefully, this list will give you some suggestions when you’re looking to shake up the routine and try a new spot. And, with a few exceptions, many of these places are very budget friendly as well. #tampabayfoodies #tampabayfoodie #diningaroundtampa #tampafoodie #tampafood #tampafoodies #thingstodointampabay #thingstodointampa #tampafoodblogger #eatfortheinsta #globaleats #foodiesinternationalchat #internationalfoodiesunite #flfoodies #forkyeahfoodies
  • Just wanted to shout out a few of my Pinellas County favorites for 727 Day! If you haven’t been to these spots, add them to your to do list!
  • I wanted to shake things up a bit tonight. When life gets hectic - and it has been as of late - we tend to lean on the old familiar spots. But tonight, I wanted something different, and smallbarstp has been on my list for quite awhile. The menu varies frequently, but I saw that electricmikeorchestra posted the Crispy Ribeye Pie on his stories, and I knew that’s what this rainy day needed. He’s a talented chef that I’ve been following since his days at Wild Child, and while I haven’t had the time to check out his tacowizard69 popups, this is one I was determined to do. My partner and I split almost every dish on the menu, but we each got our own slice of Crispy Ribeye Pie, and the whole menu was pretty incredible. The Caesar Salad came out first, and we quite enjoyed it. We’re both pretty big salad guys, and this scratched the itch. We both appreciated the anchovy filets on top. It may be a controversial ingredient to some, but we love them. The Parker House Rolls came out next. The rolls themselves are soft, pillowy and comforting, and the smoked olive and nduja butter took it over the top. Don’t skip these! Next were the Nihari Curry Meatballs, and we absolutely loved these. These will likely go down as some of the best things I eat all year. So very tender and moist, and the flavor was amazing. We really enjoyed the Crispy Ribeye Pie. And honestly, the longer it soaked in that Bone Marrow Bordelaise, the better it got. You’ll definitely want to eat up the scraps on this plate when you’re done. I wish we had ordered more rolls to soak up the sauce from this dish. We ended the meal by splitting the Banana Bread Pudding, which came with peanut butter ice cream and coconut whipped cream. And it was the perfect portion to split. The menu changes often, but based on this first experience, we’re absolutely interested in whatever else is being served. Give both smallbarstp and electricmikeorchestra a follow to see what’s going on, but word of warning - it’s called Small Bar for a reason. There are six bar stools and four two-top tables and its walk-in service. Get here early for the best chance to snag a seat. Located on the back side of Bandit Coffee
