Oopsies! We’re out of sync, but bear with, the open tabs are plenty 🤯

Routine is the bedrock of healthy skin. I’m sorry I know it’s boring, but it’s the truth. Running to treatments when you really should be knuckling down with a basic and consistent routine is never going to play out well in the long run.

It’s like going to the gym once a month for a 2 hour intense workout whilst your diet is McDonalds.

❤️One of my specialties is building routines. So hit me up if you need help!

Every brand puts a new spin on things, but very rarely is it brand new, brand new. Bear this in mind when you’re losing your mind over the latest ‘must-have’ product.

For sure we can upgrade, but also ‘if it ain’t broke, is there any need to fix it?’ Experimenting with supposedly new ingredients and products all the time will only end in one results - upset skin.

Be mindful.

Falling asleep in make up is not the end of the world. We all do it, even your fave skincare experts, the world is tiring! Have you tried existing in Rachel Reeves economy?!

The key is not to do it everyday, so stack your face washing with another daily habit - taking off your bar, popping in your retainers, after you evening walk. Whatever you do every evening, pop your face washing next to it.

Someone wanted to see how an ad comes together, so here you have it…some BTS of the process.

Slide 2, 3 - Usually starts with me messaging SirJay ‘I have an idea’ and she always says ‘let’s hear it’.

We riff on WhatsApp. On this occasion my initial idea - outfit, location etc had to be scrapped because of my vertigo, I could barely operate.

Slide 4 - Eventually I make it out of the house!

Slide 5,6 - how well can you kick a bauble to get the exact shot. There’s people sat having their coffee watching us do this.

Slide 7 - the hat!! If I’m going to wear a Christmas hat in September it better be stylish! Not half arsing this, I’m fully committed. By this time people are laughing and wondering what the hell is going on.

Slide 8 - the advent calendar is full! And heavy. The direction from SJ is to pretend I’ve just caught it, so I need to throw it up, bend my knees and catch it. Bear in mind, I have vertigo so all this movement is sending me 😬😬

Slide 9 - mid approval- disaster strikes and I have to go to A&E for a casual 5 hours because I have nothing else to do.

Slide 10 - the Final Cut.

Between ideating, planning, filming and editing - this is about 7 hours work. I’m grateful that CB trust us to deliver so we don’t have added pressure of client trying to micromanage us. Could never be us anyway 😂😂 2025-09-06 14:53:13 .. 87 +23% 10 +64%
I’ve never understood the hoo-ha about sunscreen. There’s only one rule - apply it when you see daylight, here or abroad, top up as necessary, use two finger lengths to start with. It is very simple.

Sadly the only time you’ll ever regret not using sunscreen is 1. if you get skin cancer. Black people get it too, argue with someone else if you’re that way inclined or 2. your skin gets so prematurely aged, it looks decades older.

Bit similar to, the only time you’ll ever regret not having home insurance is if you get robbed. I hope you see where I’m going.

I’ve seen people from all walks of life with beautiful and healthy skin, but I’ve never seen flawless skin. It doesn’t exist - everyone has pores, blemishes, inflammation, a fine line here and there and even a rogue chin hair. And that’s ok, because that’s REAL SKIN! It’s still healthy and beautiful.

You will be much more content, happy and confident in your skin and yourself once you realise this. From then on, you will operate from a place of power, not inadequacy as my beloved industry will sometimes try and make you feel.

There are two things that happen when you buy expensive skincare products that you can’t afford on a regular basis- 1. you never use enough because you’re conscious how expensive it all was and 2. because you never use enough, you never get the expected or desired results.😔😬

So all in all, it’s a frustrating waste of time. I have seen this scenario so many times so please be realistic about your re-occurring skincare budget so that you’re able to stay on your skincare journey.

❤️Pro tip - have a regular skincare savings pot so you’re not caught short and be upfront with your skin pro about your budget so they can help you prioritise. A good practitioner will know what’s products are worth it and also know products across many price points.

Don’t know what it is, but now I’m out of clinic, feeling so much more energised to talk about skincare and beauty in all its facets - not just products, but also what it means for confidence, self esteem and how we show up in the world. But NOT how we’ve been doing for the last few years - shouting on social media to pretty much an echo chamber.

Definitely craving to do more education, but in small groups and one to one. I feel that’s the only way because we’re all so fatigued with the current way of doing things. And what is the definition of crazy - doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.

📍1-2-1 online consultations are back, I have a few hours available every month

It’s an absolute pleasure to witness joannaellner_ do amazing things with her beautiful brand officialreome. For the decade + years I’ve know her, she's never been anything but considered and thoughtful with what she brings into the world. Congratulations on a stellar new product - Biogenic Melting Cream.

The skin geek in me lit up last night when you spoke of protecting the delicate telomeres especially. All too often skincare focuses on replacing what’s lost rather than protecting what’s already there - the ethos behind longevity really - how can we keep for longer and in good condition the cells and DNA the skin (the body!) already has.

The food was delicious, the company equally delightful.

It’s not an excavation, you’re not knocking through walls, unless you want to break your skin barrier that is! You don’t! It’s not nice.

So when you want to introduce new skincare products, take it slow and steady, one or two products at a time, you don’t need to do it all at once.

🌟Pro tip - start with your cleanser, it’s the easiest thing to change in your routine. How do you change your skincare products?

Day 1 of sharing Skin Wisdoms from the treatment room - your skin communicates even before you open your mouth. This means that skin issues quickly rock our self- confidence, especially if you’ve not reached DGAF levels yet.

For example - there was a time when people assumed acne was because someone was dirty! Conversely in my experience people who suffer from acne are usually super clean, too much perhaps!

TIME-STAMPING as usual.

The whole clickedskin crew came together IRL last night for the first time - Co-founders and founding team - the Dutch speaker, the sweet tooth, the twinnie, the history buff and oyster lover. It was glorious, easy and breezy.

We even went on a team bonding outing - to find the f*cker who brazenly swiped our CTO’s laptop bag hanging on the back of her chair from inside the restaurant. We were the last table at the back. Such an opportunist!

Not the outing I would have planned, BUT the fact that all of us were like ‘f*ck it, let’s find him and handle this shit!’ gives me all the satisfaction in the world that this team is special and y’all gonna be in good hands when you start using the app! 👏🏾👏🏾

Finally new and impending regulations for the UK aesthetics industry are on the cards. Bear in mind we’re still waiting for the actual results of the consultation 18 months ago so we don’t actually know what the legislation will be.

As always the vast majority of practitioners are safe, especially beauty and skin therapists. We are already qualified, insured and licensed, so let’s remember that as we have these conversations with the press and each other. We will NOT all be tard by the same brush on my watch!

I do think that alongside legislating practitioners a MASSIVE public education campaign is needed. Consumers need to understand why Barry the builder cannot inject their bottom in the back room for £250! 2025-08-07 14:26:07 Finally new and im.. 87 +23% 6 -1%

House parties, random gallivanting, suya straight off the grill, heavy handed cocktails, seafood boils, kitchen dancing, thigh slapping laughter, kids high on sugar and very loud conversations.

It’s a bit of a fed uppy week. I was talking to a client yesterday about the hopelessness of the current world order. I didn’t have a pot to bang on Friday evening but I stood and clapped instead, hoping the noise would be loud enough for flip floppy Starmer to grow a back bone and take some decisive action to influence change. I’m glad my MP has brought this topic up in parliament several times and also pleased he arranged for the kids to join a tour. Really important at these times for the youngsters to get engaged in politics. If you didn’t know, it’s free for UK peeps to tour the Palace of Westminster and your MP can organise it. The website makes it appear that you have to pay a regular visitor fee.

Was pleased to celebrate the 2025 Glossier grantees! Some beautiful brands coming up! Congratulations again!

I’ve also been writing a M-F substack about the journey merging skincare and tech with getclickednow . It gives the other side of the highlight reels, the frustration and mundane that few talk about. It’s 90% grind, 10% pizzazz.

The new Sulphur treatment from The Ordinary is super cool. My product of the week for subsiding a spot on my eyelid overnight. Sulphur is a bit overlooked as an acne treatment but it gives 👌🏾 results - gentle and antibacterial. The powder to cream format is handy and clean for travel too.

If you were planning to see Smurfs, don’t. It’s flat, the story line goes nowhere. You wait for it to peak and nothing. Young kids may like it, but any over 10 may describe as boring. Save your money and wait for it on Sky movies. 2025-07-27 13:01:04 I.. 71 +0% 2 -67%
A heavily reflective week but really I want to acknowledge the passing of time and how long it really takes to go from zero to one.

There’s exactly 270 days between pic 2 - California and 3 - Progress Note. I went to Cali to answer the question - how do we scale BSD, but came back with getclickednow. Even then it’s taken almost a year to have that awareness to actually then be in the position to execute on it. TLDR - start now. Takes a while for the chips to fall into place.

Also thinking on the three cygnets 🦢, bear with….let me land before you call me crazy…I’ve been building Clicked solo, but the opportunity for 2 co-founders came along, so I said ok because the elders say if you want to go far, go together. And I can go faster with my remit because I’m not doing a thousand things. The lesson is there peeps.

I also did an oral testimony for the Beauty and Wellbeing APPG this week. We’ve been beating the sun protection drum on BSD for 7 years, and now we could be contributing to possible new legislation. Everything in time.

I met Emma Grede in SF, she was generous with advice then as she was on Grace Beverley’s podcast - she was speaking about having an understanding of the zeitgeist and how it moves along when building a business. Ideals of 2020 are not the same in 2025 and there’s a responsibility to stay agile and pivot for longevity. Have a listen yourself.

I too can’t wait for you to download CLICKED! Because your skin really does deserve better. In the meantime, give us a follow and stay locked in the journey because it really is only just beginning. 2025-07-20 19:18:07 A .. 99 +40% 9 +48%
I called etwohig today and spent the first 5 mins of the call just laughing. I couldn’t speak. The alternative was crying or all out rage 😂😂

What would we do without perspective AND the ability to choose a different view point so you don’t end up on hospital or jail, eh?! Or knowing my luck both!

It’s a great skill to have when going down the road of building a whole tech app. 😱Anyway, I also took the time to look at 5 other key skills/mindsets I’ve sharpened over the last 6 months.

If anything resonates take it. I’m off to laugh a bit more because what is this life?! A mixture of WTF and hell yeah!

I’ve designed my life so I can work from home. If I need to leave my house for London hot and get the tube, it better for a chq or I must absolutely adore you.

Good thing the heart is big ❤️ because my NYC babe Mariesa was here, it was so lovely to accompany her to Tones of Beauty. It also meant going through my old stomping ground Canary Wharf, even though I worked there when I finished uni I still haven’t mastered the exits!!

Can’t wait for you all to see what Mariesa is cooking up in the skincare space, but it was nice seeing the great and good of the British beauty industry talking formulation, brand building etc. Well done Tones of Beauty 👏🏾

Two birthdays in the house this week 🎂🥳, so I’m full of sugar, which always makes me break out. It’s a very consistent pattern. But I will always eat the cake and the pastel de natas because YOLO.

30 years living in England, never been to Battersea. Can’t say what we were up to but literally, if you need a sign holding up anywhere at this point, just call us 😂

With getclickednow, it was a rollercoaster week - high start, low end, so drinks and debriefs were needed with the BFF. We went to this bar in Soho and the crowd just got younger and younger 👀!

Clearly a USA-themed week 🇺🇸 - because cutting up with Sheena over pasta. So good to see you on this side of the pond! See you soon 😘

New cleanser from CeraVe I think will be great for your oily-skinned peeps, especially teenagers.

Side-eyeing how supplements are getting the colourful (aka attract the kiddos) treatment. All kids need is a healthy and balanced diet to get their nutrients. I hate that Alpha Gen are now the next frontier the supplements industry. 2 words - Drunk Elephant!

Product of the Week - Living Proof Dry Scalp Treatment - My daughter gets extremely dry, flaky scalp usually with a few days of washing hair. This is the only thing that stops it. It’s great when you have braids because you can apply it in the partings, and it keeps her scalp hydrated and moisturised without feeling greasy. It sinks right in and smells beautiful. We’ve gone through countless tubes of this, and I highly recommend it.

As a long time advisory board member to the britishbeautycouncil it was a pleasure to plan and co-host the first Beauty Founders Supper. It’s especially important that we champion the ‘soon to blow’ beauty founders and we use our resources to represent, advocate and amplify them whether it be to retailers or government.

Likewise, so much unseen work goes on within the council - so from time to time, it’s good to pull back the curtains and let founders see how they can also get involved to help push and shape the success of the beauty industry.

Fundraising is first and foremost a test of self-belief.

If you’re going to collapse at the first no, what will happen when you hear no 10 times in one day? For real, I am very familiar with the word no. The verbal no and the unsaid no.

Someone asked a question yesterday on the Tones of Beauty Panel, how do you cope when potential investors don’t buy into your vision? I think she said she’d just collapse in a heap or something like that.

Yes, that’s an option.

Better yet, take a deep breath (curse, kick a wall, go for a walk - whatever - after all you’re human and it’s ok to feel disappointed) you ask for feedback on the no, tweak your offer (ONLY if it makes sense) and you move on to the next investor. Rinse and repeat.

It will work out, hold on to your belief that whatever you bring to the table is valid. 2025-07-01 16:14:02 Fundraising i.. 68 -4% 6 -1%
Yo!! Guys look at my teeth 🤩🤩🤩 I felt every day of the 20 months I had braces - won’t miss those wires shredding my gums and soft tissue 🤣 but definitely worth the journey. I can finally have new headshots! Who wants to snap me?!

Another reason to smile, we are almost ready to start laying down the code for getclickednow - your personalised intuitive AI powered skincare companion. Stay locked in because if you’ve ever looked at skincare and gone, what the hell, how do I know which product to use and how do I know when to change things over or I need to speak to a pro but it’s so expensive, IT’s FOR YOU!

Popped into Simply G for goddess braids for my baby girl. Birthday hair loading. She’s stunting on these Kent babes with her London hair because Aunty Debs hooked her up up!! Sorry if you don’t have an aunty like Debs.

Even I got in on the hair game with a comp treatment at Steam Bar. It was lovely!

This week I also co-hosted the (currently small, soon to be big) brand founders supper club alongside the British Beauty Council. More to come on this but I got to see my lover girl SJ - she who brings you all the social media magic.

And Maya Njie gifted my Tropica, which totally takes me to Sierra Leone circa 1990, beach, barbecues and bougainvilleas. Love it!

Finally, the swans in the nature reserve disappeared a few weeks back, I thought they had been moved on. But then I saw them back this week, with a bounty of cygnets. Look what happens when you take time out and mind your business….👉🏾👉🏾please take the lesson from Mother Nature and run with it.
