I got down to the opening night at carmelaspizzeria, the new pizza spot from legends of the London pizza scene bitetwicefoodreviews - and let’s just say North London has got a gem on its hands! We’ve got lots of new pizza restaurants in London but none are combining the warmth and feel of a local restaurant with genuinely top tier technique, ingredients and execution like Carmela’s. Their pizzas are as good as any I’ve had in London and the restaurant just has that friendly, inviting buzz that makes you not wanna leave! And Paul and Jerry, these guys massively deserve it. I remember Jerry telling me they had 13k followers in 2022, fast forward 3 years and they’ve got a dedicated community of 140k+ and have opened up their own restaurant. Properly found it inspiring as a content creator - this is what you can achieve with hard work, always showing up and consistently delivering good content. My last eat from netilmarket yesterday and we grabbed the Salmon Lox from thebagelguysbypaulies (£8.50) and it’s a cracker of a bagel. Pick your bagel of choice (I went for everything bagel ofc) plus schmear options (the spring onion was superb) and then the classic lox fillings all executed perfectly 👏🏾 I’ve been charged £12-14 for Lox bagels in London, so £8.50 was more than reasonably priced imo. In terms of value for the quality, this absolutely hits. You guys know me, if there’s one food that brings me joy - it’ll always be a burger. I love chatting about them, I love making them and above all else, I love eating them. Sometimes you end up eating a burger that’s meedy ting, sometimes you get a burger that’s downright wiggedy wack… and sometimes you get a burger that’s a just a joy to eat… and jupiter___burger is very much the latter. Think of it like a classic BK whopper but with all the ingredients being truly legit. We’ve got meat sourced from broadway market legends hillandszrok, smashed to beautiful perfection, we’ve got the connoisseurs bun - the potato bun instead of brioche, you’ve got a burger sauce I could happily down a bottle of and then the classic burger ingredients executed flawlessly, thinly sliced gherkins, a small pile of raw white onion, crispy lettuce, sliced tomato and American cheese. The classics are the classics for a reason, and when they’re done right, it just HITS. I sat and at this burger with two smiles, one on my face and one in my tummy. It’s my break from Mounjaro so I’m eating all the food today - kicking off at forno.london and on the menu today, two things: CREAM and CUSTARD. My first time at boxhallcity and we hit up patoisfood for some banging Caribbean food. I grabbed: Jerk Bird Plate featuring jerk chicken, plantain, rice and peas, salad and slaw - £15.50 Pepper prawns - £8.50 The jerk chicken plate was a good sized portion, the chicken was juicy and tender, well seasoned, beautifully spiced and Smokey, and the sides all on point. The pepper prawns, juicy and spicy, TONS of flavour but a real kick - if you call something ‘pepper’ then I wanna see a nice bit of heat and these didn’t disappoint. Mad enjoyable. Really enjoyed this spot and service with a smile isn’t something I’m too familiar with at a lot of Caribbean spots I’ve been too 🤣, so this was refreshing! I got myself down to epicgreekfood to try out their popular Greek street food at Westfield Stratford and it did not disappoint! I’ve lived next to Stratford for 3 years and had never been, and I can’t believe I’d slept on this spot before. Genuinely taken aback by the freshness, quality of ingredients and the meats? Don’t get me started! Tender and succulent pork and chicken off the spit, perfectly cooked chicken and pork souvlaki. I might well have made the focaccia sandwich of my dreams guys. Lamb + grilled courgette + mint sauce + tzatziki + pomegranate in between thick slices of rosemary focaccia, was a great way to use that reduced lamb joint (£16 to £4 - I still won’t get over it) last week. We’re checking out London’s best sandwiches so of course we had to get down to the nellskitchn x myfavouritesandwich pop up in Shoreditch. You’ll all have seen Nell popping off on socials for a while now with her viral crisp sandwiches and creative focaccia flavours. She took over the menu at My Favourite Sandwich, offering a meaty version and veggie version of her focaccia specials.
