This might sound basic, but it’s huge. Long commutes can be exhausting, for both the child and the parents. Because traffic + toddlers = chaos.
✅ Financial Comfort
Fees range a lot. We had to pick what we could afford without feeling stretched in the long run. It should not stress you out.
✅ The Feel of the Place, safety and environment
Some things you just sense. Did the school feel warm? Were the teachers kind? Did the kids seem happy? How do they handle emergencies, bullying, hygiene? I visited during pick-up to speak to real parents, more useful than most reviews.
✅Social Fit
Can your child blend into his peer group?
If the majority of parents at a school have significantly higher income, their children may be used to certain privileges , expectations or social dynamics that could unintentionally make your child feel left out. It’s not about limiting dreams but finding an environment where your child feels included and confident.

💙Regarding Curriculum Fit (CBSE/ICSE/IB...),
honestly, I didn’t obsess over the board. Instead I enquired about teachers quality, for how long the same staff is working and co-curriculars in school. Most board info is online if you want to understand it better.
💯My suggestion to all new moms and dad: Trust your gut, and ask questions. You will know in your heart whether you want to send your child to that school or not.
You don’t need the BEST school. Just the RIGHT one. 👍
