After a full rest day- I went into the week feeling recharged! 🔋🚀

4 part session: 

Part A:

Clean and jerk doubles at 102kg x 3 sets

Clean and jerk singles at 120kg- 125kg and 130kg. 

130kg in video one- that weight has never felt so comfortable. A fair bit more in the tank! 

Part B: 

Every minute for 10 mins: 
2 clean pulls at 115kg 

Part C:

Both white and red meats are essential to a healthy diet! Both contain excellent protein and good fats! 

However, when you’re looking to lose weight or drop body fat you should predominantly be getting your protein from white meats. About 80%. 

Why? 

Because you’ll end up getting more protein into your diet and you’ll be consuming less calories! Win- Win🏆 

That way you can eat more! 

But make sure to get those red meats in too!

Training VS Nutrition 🏋️🥗 Mindset 🔑

Think about it- How hard does it feel to burn 200 calories on an assault bike/echo bike? It’s gruelling when done correctly. 

Well, you could eat that 200 calories back in seconds with a single Snickers bar or a pumpkin spiced latte! 

I know what you’re thinking and trying to do. You’re trying to burn as many calories in the gym or on a run to help with your weight loss. 

You train 3-5 times a week but you’re the same weight, if not heavier, than what you were back in January this year.

That’s because your diet is not good enough. Or you drink too much alcohol, you get too many take aways and you aren’t actually in a deficit across the week- no matter how hard you train. 

So, change your habits and shift your mindset. 

Training should be seen as a way to build your strength, to get fitter and to improve your all round health! It should be enjoyable! 

Your diet is what you need to address. 

What you eat across the day and week determines your weight and body fat levels. 

What you’re eating fuels your exercise and training. 

The right fuel and diet will result in a better performance in the gym as well as weight loss. 

The right training will help you to build your strength, fitness and instil a love for exercise.

Scott who’s been with me a while now! He’s doing my strength and conditioning training plans to stay fit and strong for future fitness challenges! He’s lost over 2 stone with my support 👊 He’s gone from doing nothing to now completing multiple running events in one year 🏃‍♂️

Lindsey who’s been a long term client of mine! You would have seen from my page that her journey has been incredible! 8 stone of weight loss with my support and today she ran the race in 55 minutes! Cardiff half for her next 🏃‍♀️

Then we have Ash and Kevin who have recently joined DJF 🫡

Ashleigh is working on improving her diet and is following my strength and conditioning plans to get stronger, fitter and all round healthier 🏋️‍♂️💪 She’s made a great start 😎

Finally Kevin- he reached out to me as he was stuck with his weight loss. And when you’re lighter- running becomes a lot easier. I’m going to help him prep for future half and full marathons. He’s only been with me for 2 weeks and is already 2kg lighter and is feeling great! Today he was the 55 minute pacer and he smashed it 🤘

Roll back 18 months and Lindsey was 8 stone heavier, unhappy and her health was deteriorating. 

She’s completely changed her life around. 

She’s now exercising 5-6 times a week and eats nutritious foods and is happier and healthier than she’s ever been!

Deadlift in socks 🧦 Why? 🤷‍♂️

I see this a lot! People stepping up to the bar and deadlifting in running shoes 👟 DO NOT DO THIS! 

Running shoes are designed for a runner to land on their heel and rock onto their toes. The heel is elevated and the toe is slightly curved upwards- perfect for running 🏃‍♂️ 

Terrible for lifting 🏋️‍♂️❌

When you are deadlifting or squatting your feet need to be flat and rooted to the ground- like the roots of a big tree 🌴 

If the tree roots are lose and can move- the tree will be unstable and will fall over 🌳❌

To squat and for Olympic lifts I use lifting shoes but for deadlifting I always do these in my socks. 🧦 

This enables me to keep my feet flat on the ground, I can keep a solid base- one that does not move at all and then I can drive my feet into the ground strongly and firmly to lift the barbell off the floor! ☑️

No rocking from heel to toe and instability! 🙅‍♂️

A flat solid base that does not move! ✅

Strong roots= A strong tree 🌳💪
