22 year old me would think 31 year old me is so cool & that’s all I care about honestly. I always dreamt of traveling the world & getting to experience all that I am. I remember posting this video after my first few trips because I was starting to get the urge to blog and document my journey. At the time though, I had no confidence & or real understanding how to pursue it. Reminding myself to pause & be grateful for how far I’ve come. The Summer I Got Out Of My Own Way 🤍 Lived out my travel dreams this year. Traveled to new places. Made new friends. Said goodbye to expired connections & hello to new ones. Started my own business. As someone who has managed to turn travel into my actual career & lifestyle, I can confidently say it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever experienced but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. I get asked often, sometimes with judgement, on when I’m going to settle down & choose a more traditional “normal” lifestyle. I get these concerns, though. It used to bother me a lot when people would approach me with this mindset however it comes with the territory. It’s not something many can understand nor grasp. I don’t expect it to make sense to everyone. But hey, if I’m not worried, you don’t have to be either 🙂🤍✈️ To me, this is never a waste of time. We’re already on borrowed time. When the.oceanic.eye asked if I would feel comfortable posing nude in the ocean, I didn’t hesitate whatsoever because in all actuality, nudity is freedom. For years I grew up hating my body. I struggled with intimacy because of it and developed unhealthy relationships because of it. Having done the work to heal those parts of me & learn to love the skin I’m in, but most importantly to love what’s underneath all that, I feel the most whole and free now than I ever have before. Finding joy in my every day life and not just when I’m traveling is something I’m actively working on. I didn’t realize that over the years, I tied so much of my success, happiness & self worth to my travels & social media content. Once I realized how down and depressed I would feel coming home from a trip, something inside me woke up. Happiness is a choice. You have to actively seek enjoyment and joy in the mundane otherwise you will forever be chasing a temporary highs. The crash and come down from that is never worth it. I love my fast paced, adventurous life but I want to enjoy the present as well and remembering to find fulfillment in the small, less glamorous parts of my life is equally important. Doing hobbies that make me smile, sleeping and resting when I need to, moving my body, eating clean, laughing with my friends. The smaller things in life are what make you appreciate the bigger things. You’ll never find happiness constantly searching for the next destination and the next best thing. Been leaning into more intentional travel recently. I used to think traveling was all about how many stamps can I collect on my passport & beautiful photos from around the world. Lately though, an energy shift has happened & I’m a lot more selective with the types of trips I go on & with whom. Most recently I embarked on an adventure to create & explore with a group of girls I knew nothing about but could tell we aligned with our interests & excitement for being in the water. We journeyed to a remote deserted island in Mexico & had our fair share of challenges but all in all, we remained open to the experience and to doing things outside of our comfort zone. & I left feeling reminded of why I do all this in the first place. To connect with those who share my values, my interests & my heart. I want to keep myself open to newness and the unknown. It’s not for everyone, I understand that. Swam with my first Oceanic Manta Ray recently and it’s probably one of the best moments of my life. Being in the water, free diving & up close/personal with marine life brings a sense of peace idk how to properly express. It’s moments in the water like this that put it all into perspective.
