![🍂 Happy September! New week, new month, new season (and new apartment for me 🫶) — perfect timing for a fresh start!
September always feels like a mini New Year to me: a chance to reset after summer and lay strong foundations for the rest of the year.
We already did a mid-year check-in back in July, so now it’s about setting clear priorities & learning to say no 🙊. Because it’s easy to run into September with a packed agenda, yet not move forward on what truly matters.
And often it’s because we focus on the urgent instead of the important. During one of my coaching sessions with willmarques_coach I learnt about the Eisenhower Matrix, dividing things in 4 categories:
- urgent & important
- important but non-urgent
- urgent & non-important
- non-urgent & non-important
Using it has helped me so much these past weeks while moving apartments & juggling big projects. Defining priorities is a game changer for both time and energy management.

![🌿 Welcome to a final episode of Mindful Monday before the summer break - Realign & Recharge
This week, I want to share with you my last (and favorite) tip to make the most of your summer:
✨ A Summer Digital Detox ✨
I’ve been doing it since 2021, 1 to 4 weeks off social media, and now it’s a non-negotiable part of my yearly wellbeing routine.
💡 When I first started, it made me realise that I was mainly opening Instagram out of pure reflex, without even knowing why. Just tap & scroll, no real purpose. I’m sure you feel the same as well 😅
That first digital detox really helped me create a much more intentional relationship with my phone.
🌱 A few benefits I’ve noticed:
- Slower & more present days, both with myself and people around 🫶🏻
- Hours back for things that truly light me up
- A massive creativity boost & a clarity of mind
And even though I love creating and sharing here with you, it feels so good to take a step back and feel the JOMO instead of the FOMO 😌
That said, I won’t lie, the first days are always uncomfortable: I still catch myself looking for the Instagram icon only to remember that I’ve deleted the app 🙃
But it’s so humbling: it reminds me how deep the addiction goes. And honestly it’s also a little scary to see how automatic it’s become 🤯 (even if I know those apps are literally designed to hook our brains, so no wonder it’s hard to resist).
🧠 Studies show that digital detoxes reduce anxiety, improve focus, boost sleep quality and increase overall wellbeing. But more than that, it’s a good reminder that we are not meant to be plugged in 24/7.

![Taranaki Maunga Mirror Sunrise 🌄🏔️ Which one is your favorite? 😍 Well, these photos almost didn’t happen 🤯
I hiked to Pouakai Hut the day before, slept up in the mountain hut, and woke up at 5am to see that perfect reflection of Mount Taranaki. 🏔️
🔦 Still half-asleep, I walked 20 minutes in the dark to reach the tarn. It was very windy & cloudy but I still walked. Only to find choppy water & no reflection ☁️ It was cold, I was frustrated, tired & sad I’ve woken up for nothing… (swipe left)
Even more sad that it was my only chance! You have to book the hut in advance and the weather forecast for the next days was terrible 🌧️
So I decided I had nothing to lose and waited… the clouds were starting to clear but no sign of the wind fading 🌬️ And then, the sun rose above the horizon and magic happened 🪞🌄🤩
What started as a disaster ended up being one of my favorite moments ever in New Zealand & one of my favorite photos of all time 🥰
Proof that patience is key, always 🫶🏻
📍 Pouakai Tarns, Taranaki, New Zealand 🇳🇿
🛏️ Pouakai Hut, 20-30min away from the tarn. I highly recommend you to stay overnight so you can catch both the sunset & the sunrise 👌🏼 (reopening planned for next month, August 2025)
🥾 Mangorei Track, 5km one way, 2.5 hours (it took me 3 as it’s uphill the whole time 🫣)
🏔️ Taranaki is famous for its fast-changing and extreme weather. Check the forecast before you go and be prepared for rain and cold, even in summer.

Can you believe that 30min before that epic golden sunset light, it was all clouds & mist? ☁️
Hiked 3 hours up, under - in - above the clouds & waited around 2 hours hoping for the clouds to clear around sunset 🌄 was so happy when it finally cleared (lol the video 😆)
🏔️ Roy’s Peak hike, 1250 elevation, 16km (5-7h return)
Viewpoint is 1.5km away from the summit.
💨 it’s 100% exposed so bring sunscreen (even in winter), wind jacket & plenty of water.
❄️ photos were taken on June 5th & snow was already everywhere
🥾 it’s a real hike so wear sturdy shoes (although I’ve seen people in flip flop at the top, but I don’t recommend it 😂)

![Cathedral Cove Moon Sunrise, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Would you wake up at 5am for this? 🌅
As I was walking guests through my exhibition, I had the pleasure of sharing the unique story behind each photo, which made me want to bring a few of them to life here as well 🥰
This one was taken at Cathedral Cove, just before sunrise. I woke up at 5am, started walking from Hahei Beach, walked through lush native forests and past Gemstone and Stingray Bays, and made it just in time at around 5:40am.
The first photo is actually a composite: a long exposure for that silky sea effect, and a faster shutter for my dancing pose and the bird. The moon had moved too far out of frame in my final shot, so I stole it from the very first one I took when I arrived, because once you see the moon in the middle, you can’t unsee it, right? 😆🌕
If you go, make sure to go when the sunrise is at the same time as the low tide (but not too low or there won’t be much water in the frame)!
I stayed at the Hahei campground for almost a week so I could get the perfect timing (but with a view like the last photo, I couldn’t complain 😍)!

🏛️ Dubrovnik Old Town: Jesuit Stairs, Rector’s Palace & Stradun (at sunrise to have it for yourself)
🌅 City Walls for the best views over the old town and peninsula (best at sunset)
⛵️ Karaka (traditional) boat tour around the city walls
🐠 Lapad Peninsula for beaches and snorkel
💦 Cavtat, a little gem 20km south of Dubrovnik
🪗 Neretva river boat tour for a more remote & traditional experience

- The best time to get the Duomo empty is at sunrise, the earlier the better as the sun hits straight the plaza when it rises
- Right before or right after, walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and soak it all in! The details & grandeur are best enjoy without the shops open & all the people around 🤭
- Book your tickets in advance to visit the cathedral and the terrace at the opening (9am - Comment
TICKET and I’ll send you my link to book them)
- Choose the stairs option as the elevators is the one that gets the busier the fastest
Now that I think about it, I’m not sure why the first one didn’t make it to the exhibition 😅😂 I guess I need to organize a second one with a bit more than 2 days to select the photos 🤣

![BTS of my very first photo exhibition in Paris 📸🫣🥹
📍 Cloître du Couvent de l’Annonciation (Paris 8)
📆 Until July 20th
⏰ Wed-Thu 9am-8pm, Fri-Sat-Sun 9am-6pm
I had 2 days to choose all the photos (so I forgot some 😆) and organize them online (I used artsteps_stories ) so I could send them to be printed. Spent a few days creating & printing the labels, framing the photos once I’ve received them and setting up the exhibition with le_vghast 🫶🏻
