I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaching the core courses of the Yoga Philosophy certificate program at LMU this year! Please join me for an exploration of some of the foundational texts and traditions that shape our understanding of the philosophies of Yoga. If you’ve taken my Yogic Worldview workshops in the past, been curious in class when I’ve referenced a Sanskrit sūtra or concept, studied history and Sanskrit with me in a teacher training, are interested in pursuing the academic study of yoga, or are a yoga practitioner seeking grounding, this is a wonderful opportunity to settle in and unearth the fascinating world behind the poses. In these classes we’ll examine texts in English and experience them together in their original Sanskrit, work to situate them in their historical context, engage in thoughtful discussion of philosophical concepts, put theory to practice with embodied meditations and prompts, research and reflect on meaningful elements of each tradition, and leave with a well-rounded understanding of the vast network of ideas behind the term “Yoga Philosophy.” Classes run on Zoom, Sundays 1:30pm - 4:00pm EST (10:30am - 1:00pm PST). Don’t worry - our virtual classes aren’t going anywhere - but on Saturdays May 15, June 12 & 26, July 10 & 24, August 7 & 21 my 10am Led Primary Series will take place in Morningside Park (exact location TBA).
