How I’ve traveled for 15 years👇

(Save & share to someone who can relate)

This is to show there is no ‘correct’ path in life of age limits. I never thought, as a shy teenager’ that I’d become a content creator at 30/31 😂. In fact I never would’ve believed any of this… but here we are. It’s ok to have no idea as it leads to incredible adventures 🥰

But here’s HOW I’ve traveled so much:

Before finishing university, at 18 I went to Australia solo on a working holiday visa & worked for pretty much the whole time! Then visited some of Asia including doing 1 month conservation work with Orangutang 🦧 in Kuala Lumpa & in the Borneo rainforest.

During my university summers I went interrailling (thanks student overdraft) & worked a summer season in Greece a waitress.

Post uni I worked 2 full time m jobs (9-5 office & bar work evenings/ weekend), saved £3,500 & went away for 2.5 years.

I did this through budget backpacking SA, a working holiday visa in New Zealand for 2 years & volunteering for accom in Tonga & Hawaii for 6 weeks each. (I also met my sister in the Philippines for 6 weeks of backpacking & holidays in Rarotonga) ☀️🌊🏝️

Then I worked as a European Trip Leader for 2 years(thanks Covid)! I lead trips through a mix of 25 countries! I’d save during my trip leading seasons & use this money for personal travel in my months off between winter & summer. Including 2 months in Central America (1 month of this was volunteering in a surf camp as a leaf raker… in a jungle. Lol.) & a holiday to Morocco to visit a mate 🏄🏼‍♀️🌊

I also got discounts on Egypt & a 6 week trip around 6 African countries as I worked for a tour company!

May 2021 I left the UK, started teaching English online, got a fully remote job as an online community manager.

Mid 2022 I quit that, aged 30, to pursue my dream job! I am now a travel content creator, & host my own group trips & coliving months… can’t believe I’m saying that 🥹

It’s been one big journey & now I’m here to help you live this life too!!

So follow daisystraveldiaries to learn how to travel full time & daily digital nomad tips!

Day itinerary for Madeira 👇

(Save for your visit)

Friday nights many people go to thepurplefridays - kind of the only party in Punta do Sol. Heaps of fun to meet new people & overlooking the ocean (also free entry but you need to pre book your spot as they sell out each week)

Saturday morning I was hungover but we cannot waste a day! I’m old enough to know better so the show must go on 🫠

Stop 1/ Sexial: gorj little town/ village with pools built into the rock so you can safely swim in the sea

🥩: ate lunch at Restaurante Seixal Butcher & it was the best meat I’ve had in a while!!!! You choose your meat stick & the ‘Meat King’ cooks it over the fire for you with perfection 🙌

Stop 3: Porto Moniz: famous for the ocean pools. They have a fancier complex style one so & some free ones so you can pick your vibbbeeee bebeh.

Stop 4: sunset at Miradouro Farol da Ponta do Pargo. It’s a lighthouse with beautiful cliffs! It was a little cloudy for us but still so gorj to see & free.

So much more of Madeira to explore & share with you all 🤗 have you been here?

Let’s not niche too much 👇

(📍Botanical Gardens, Madeira 🇵🇹 - €10 entry)

On social media people say you need a niche: outdoors, beauty, backpacking, food, luxury etc… but I think we should show it all 🎀

The last few posts have been adventure, being feral in nature or wearing a super sexy wetsuit to jump off cliffs or abseiling down waterfalls. Which has been INCREDIBLE!

Today I fancied putting on a pretty dress & seeing pretty flowers which was also AMAZING!

I don’t know about you but I like so many different things! I love being feral in nature, wild camping & jumping off cliffs into the ocean.

But I also love getting dressed up, going to fancy bars, spas & drinking cocktails.

I love an early morning sunrise adventure with days in nature.

But I also love a day drinking sesh, dancing my ittie titties off & popping bottles all night.

It’s ok to love it all & show it all! I think that it’s actually a fabulous thing so enjoy many activities - never let them know your next move n all 🫠

However, it does make it very hard to pack when you travel full time. For example I have no idea where I’m going in November - will I need to wear my hiking clothes or will I wack out my tiny pink dress?! Time will tell…

Canyoning in Madeira 👇

(Save for your visit)

Welcome to part 3 of this 33 yr old spinster searching for the right banana for her in Madeira. All narration is inspired by my number one fans… my trolls 🎀

Today I went canyoning with belocalmadeira & it was AMAZING!

Not only was it incredibly beautiful, but the guides were so funny, kind & very impressive! Big love to Fabio, King Luis, Maurio 🥂

We abseiled down around 8 waterfalls, a few water slides & a big slide at the end!

It was the perfect morning & such an amazing way to see the Center of the island!! During many hikes you see waterfalls but being able to follow them down was breathtaking.

Have you done this before?

To be honest…👇

(📍 Levada Nova (Santo António da Serra), Madeira 🇵🇹

For some reason, I’ve found it tricky adjusting my scripts back to being solo again after van man, not because I miss him, but because I need to get back into the flow of solo voice overs again (even though they were always solo beforehand)…

Stupid right?!

Also, to be completely transparent, sponsorships/ brand deals have gone down (this is a main form of income) since doing this new style of ‘spinster’ content. I guess it makes sense as although I am travelling full time, maybe my niche is a little different your typical ‘travel creator’. But I LOVE doing this style & it is my usual humour & I feel like there is a lot of truth to it as a single 30 yr old trying to figure out life…

I also LOVE working with different brands as it makes you think more creatively and differently.

So hopefully, as I keep going, I’ll find my pocket of the internet again.

So I am going to stop over thinking every post (as I have been doing these last 2 weeks) & start posting what I want again. With scripts that I find funny (& hopefully you too 😂), & with vulnerability of being 33 & trying to figure out life. Social media should be fun after all… right?!

All in all, I’ve been in a bit of a funk but over this last week BUT have been hiking, swimming, SO MANY ACTIVITIES - & I’m feeling fresh, motivated, sunburnt & ready to get back on the content game again.

I grew up outside always with horses so going on hikes & being feral in nature always makes me happy - as you can see from these photos.

Trying to be honest, as always, & I am defiantly not complaining.

Love you all & thank you for being here with me as I try I to figure this whole social media/ life thing out.

Coasteering in Madeira 👇

(Save for your visit)

I went Coasteering with remotemadeira & it was my fav activity I’ve done in SO LONG!

You are taken the the east of the island in Madeira & jump off the rocks from a few meters to 11/12! Plus a flip workshop half way through 🤩

I’ve been wanting to do a flip for years but to scared as I smashed my face doing one once. So I was SO CHUFFED that I did it!!

marcos_1197 & charlie.1471 were the best guides! So patient, encouraging & even knew when I needed a time out 🤣

Marcos was born & raised on Madeira so knows this spot inside out, therefore you feel so safe & it’s amazing to get to know him & hear more about this Island.

I loved it as it’s just you against you & your fears. When you do jump you feel so proud of yourself (well, I did anyway 😆) I think it’s important to do things that scare us 🎀

10000% do this on your trip!! Would you do this?

A new chapter: Making friends 👇

(Save for your visit)

I’ve been wanting to explore Maderia for YEARS for a number of reasons. Hiking, wine, activities & a big community of people who live & work here - yay friends.

I’ve been here a week now, had lots of admin to catch up on (wild camping/ kayaking in Sweden, followed by a family holiday, followed by 10 days with a man in a van) didn’t lead to much admin work getting done in September.

But now I’m caught up & really ready to explore this BEAUTIFUL island & share it all with you.

On Sunday I joined a community hike organised by the community manager here in Madeira called Alex mtain.alex . Have a look on his page for upcoming events that you may want to join when you visit here.

I met people from all over the world & it was so fun hiking with new people.

I’m excited to share the next months with you all from tips to plot twists. I mean, when an island is famous for bananas & wine you should expect great things… right?

Also, thank you all for the recommendations! I’ll be looking through them all & reporting back on all the ones I do.

Van man: the conclusion 🎀

Many of you have been following this journey of my flying to Portugal, to meet a sexy man in a van I’d once met once before in a country in Europe earlier this summer… & many of you were hoping for a happily ever after ending.

& of course, I saw a potential for this too, otherwise I wouldn’t have gone.

But, although our story, in a romantic sense, has come to an end & there was no ‘happy love story ending’. There was still a lot of happiness & it didn’t end in a sad way atall.

We simply weren’t eachothers people. Which, unsurprisingly you figure out after spending every moment of every day together for 10 days in a van 🤣

Van man treated me like a true passenger princess. He was kind, we laughed a lot, & all around a fabulous person.

10 days in a van with someone you hardly know could’ve been a disaster BUT, although the romantic chemistry didn’t evolve to anything. We got on SO WELL, didn’t argue atall & lived our best lives for 10 days exploring the beautiful country of Portugal. 🇵🇹

So, I’m now in a brand new destination, single & ready to continue this quest of being a miserable spinster around the globe (until the next romance comes along).

It’s also made me want to date again, so stay tuned for an potential romances in the future as I may as well share them all now 🤣

Also no: I won’t be revealing his identity for everyone’s privacy 🤗

I’ll reveal where I am tomorrow so stay tuned.

Thanks for all coming along for the ride. Love you all,

Daisy xx

Must do activity & a conclusion 👇

(Save for your trip)

This 1 1/2 hour private boat trip along the Algarve, starting from Portimão, was soooo cool. We went into so many caves, grottos & under sea arches which the public tours didn’t. We also got a chance to swim and a beer 🥳

I booked it through getyourguide getyourguidecommunity & could not recommend enough! Our driver & guide were also soooo lovely & very informative. The name of provider is Swell Tours - so definitely book that one 🙌

This is also a sneak peak as to how Van Man & I’s chapter comes to an end… at the end of the reel.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a trip summary & why, even though it may not have ended in ‘happily ever after’ it definitely still had a happy ending… 👀😅

Welcome to Lagos 🇵🇹

(Save for your trip)

Today we headed down the coast to Lagos from to Sines.

For those of you who are new here - hey 👋- I met a guy last month who invited me on a van trip around Portugal so I thought…... F**K IT, for the plot n all…....

We actually slept in a van/ camper friendly car park so drove to this gorj beach, Praia do Malhao, for breakfast & to get some work done. Love how the van also doubles as an office, walk in wardrobe, moving beauty salon…

Before the BEAUTIFUL drive through mountain roads to Lagos.

The cliffs are: 📍 Ponta da Piedade & are STUNNING! After having a look around we decided to head into the town & have a wonder. Such a cute town!

Before heading back to the cliffs for sunset which were super busy. Then decided to wake up for sunrise to see the cliffs with that morning glow & without all the people…

I honestly am never normally a moaning person, let alone a sunrise person, BUT the sunrise was at 7:30am so this definitely made it do able and was sooo worth it as there were pretty much no people there.

You’ll see in tomorrow’s reel ☺️

Also, just realised the days don’t make sense haha - to be honest I forgot to film a couple of days when we didn’t do much so this is technically day 7 & yesterdays reel was day 6.

Only one full day left to document after this before the final one 🥹

To be honest…

There are only two days left to share of my van trip around Portugal with a ‘sexy man in a van I only met once before’.

📍Lagos, 🇵🇹

These photos were taken at sunrise a couple of days before our trip ended & looking back it has really made me reflect.

Now, I’m not going to spoil the ending of Van Man & I’s story, but I will say this…

I am so proud of myself for going on this van trip with a sexy man in general! To be honest I don’t date much ATALL, for a few reasons:

1/ I travel around so much so it’s hard to find a new connection when you’re moving so fast

2/ I simply don’t put any time or energy into dating - if I meet a man who I organically get on with then fabulous but I really CBA with dating apps etc. I have bigger & more fabulous fish to fry my dirty darlings…

3/ It fucking terrifies me…

I’m guessing like most people…?!

I am so scared of being rejected or for allowing myself to fall for someone again & that leading to the same pain & heartbreak as when my ex & I ended in 2022.

I was SO SACRED about going on this van trip incase he saw me again & instantly regretted inviting me, I was scared it may lead in heartbreak, I was scared to take a chance…

That’s a huge reason I decided to document it all as I figured, it was less scary if I took you on the journey & also if he did ghost me at the airport… it would make funny content haha.

Funnily enough, the fact of being in a van with a man I hardly new didn’t scare me at all though - maybe I should sort out my priorities.

But, I am SO GLAD I went. Endless laughter, Portugal is stunning, massive… personality & I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF for putting myself out there regardless of how it may or may not end…

So stay tuned for the next few updates & the ending incoming & take this as your sign to take risks, live for the plot & don’t be scared to keep wearing your heart on your sleeve, even after a big heartbreak.

Thank you all for following along & giving me the courage to do this in the first place. You all push me out my comfort zone more than you know…

Day 5 van trip route 👇

(Save for your trip)

Today was a chill day with lots of life admin like laundry but I said I’d share it all so here we are haha.

We woke up at Arrábida National Park which was so stunning & super close to Lisbon (see my previous reel for info on the climbing 🤩)

We then drove down to Setúbal for laundry & food - this town was cute but didn’t see much of it ☺️

In the evening we got to Sines which was a really cute & gorj town! Definitely recommend wandering around the streets. We had dinner at Cervejaria Murta which was sooo delicious & you can pour your own beer at the table!

Also, this was the second time this week I’ve left my bag in a toilet & it’s been returned to me by a waiter. THANK YOU PORTUGAL! I never EVER am usually this careless. I think traveling with a man is bad for the brain 🤣🤣

Sintra to cliff climbing 👇

(Save for your trip to Portugal)

Started the morning in Sintra searching for new homes (see my previous post for all info on Sintra 🤗).

I think a morning is not enough for here though, you’d want a full day to fully explore more castles!

In the afternoon we headed down the coast about an hour from Lisbon & did Via Ferrata & Absailing in Arrábida National Park!

This was sooo gorj!! I’d never done via ferrata before but you essentially ‘walk’ or climb along cliff faces on metal steps.

You’re clipped onto cables & the steps so once you get used to it it’s soo fun! The views were also amazing.

This beach & bay was so beautiful so I’d highly recommend coming here even for a day trip if you don’t fancy scaling cliffs.

Have you done this before?

House hunting in Sintra 👇

(Save for your visit)

Today I took van man house hunting around Sintra. This one was ok but I think I deserve bigger…?!

We drove here but you can get a tour/ bus/ train from Lisbon.

We then got the hop on/ hop off bus ticket for €12 to explore the castles.

The one you see here is National Palace of Pena & was incredible.

I’d say you’d need a couple of days here to see all the castles but we managed to see two in one morning (vlog incoming tomorrow to show more)

The entry €10ish to get outside access to this castle. To get inside it’s all times entry & as we didn’t pre book there was no space for us to enter.

I loved just the outside areas but if you want to do in then definitely pre book a slot!!

Would you live here? 😆

Welcome to a new series of exposing a travel romance with a sexy man in a van I met last month. It’s always been a dream to do a van trip around Portugal… so when I met a sexy man with a van I thought WHY THE EFF NOT?! 33 free & single bebehs.

This day we woke up in Peniche at Cabo Carvoeiro which was beautiful.

Headed down through Ericeria - we didn’t spend long here but I’d love to come back as I’ve heard amazing things.

We spent the night in Lisbon but didn’t see much other than the old town. I had heaps of work to catch up on & had an early morning for a day of activities! Cannot wait to full you in on what happens next… 🤣

Route so far 👇

Many of you accused me of sabotaging the van in the last reel so I could stay in a hotel… no comment.

But the van is now fixed & we are back in the road babbyyyy!

From Porto we headed to Nazare for the night.

Woke up to look at the iconic light house with big waves - no waves were found. But it was cool to see inside the fort at all the surf boards & video footage. So hard to imagine it with crazy waves.

NEXT… Peniche - this first van parking was at Praia do Pico da Mota. Amazing swim!!

The old town is Óbidos: around 20/30 mins from Peniche & well worth a visit! It’s free to walk around the city walls 🤩

I must say… I’m really loving van life. What else will these 19 days bring 👀

Day 2 Kayaking in Sweden 👇

I’ve posted these a bit out of order… but this was day two of my recent 3 night kayaking & wild camping trip! Although it was misty… it was super camp water making the kayaking conditions lovely.

The issue was finding our way around as you couldn’t see any islands (even though there are islands everywhere and a total of 30,000 of them) 🤣 luckily our friend Alex was a great navigator & was able to use the compass with map.

If it were up to me I’d be completely buggered!

This island has a public sauna on it and camping facilities. You pay a donation on your phone & you’re free to use it! Sweden is amazing.

We asked a lady in the sauna about traditions in Sweden & she came out with a birch branch! Apparently it’s tradition to make the branch wet & hit you on the back with it (gently may I add) 🤣. If smelt lovely but I think we were doing it wrong as it felt more like a weird adult move 🤣🤣

The next day was beautiful sunshine so definitely can’t complain.

Would you do this? 🤩

Kayaking & Wild Camping in Sweden 👇

(Save for next summer)

Two weeks ago Nora noratheexplorahh invited me to go kayaking & wild camping in Sweden for 3 nights… I had no idea Sweden has islands but said yes (as I usually do) for the plot even though I was so worried it would be swept out to sea & eaten by a polar bear…

I am SO HAPPY I did. It was a highlight of my year & something I’d recommend to everyone!

The water was super calm, uninhibited islands, zero other people. You can camp on any of the islands so we’d often have the islands to ourselves 🥹

I am NOT strong in the slightest & even I could manage this so I believe in you 😅

The best reset & mini digital detox after a hectic summer.

P.s. Nora may be arranging this for her via.adventure group trips so stay tuned 👀

More vlogs to come to show the more chaotic realists of our days but I miss it already 🥰

Anyone get overwhelmed with packing so leaves it until last minute & stops multiple times throughout? ☺️

Tomorrow (after a lunch time party 🥳) I’m heading to Sweden for 3 days of wild camping on the archipelago off Stockholm.

Zero preparation, can’t even do a push up & probably not the best time of year…

However, when a friend asks you on a last minute adventure. You always say yes!!

So follow along to see if I get swept out to see. No matter what, I’m excited for a mini digital detox (I’m sure I’ll have some signal but hopefully not lots 😆) & to touch some grass.

I actually grew up as a feral horsey girl so I’m buzzing to get back to my feral roots every now & then.
