Visiting Nottingham wasn’t just about seeing a new place—it was about discovering a part of myself. With both my father and grandmother gone, I never had the chance to hear their stories firsthand. When family dies young, you lose more than just them—you lose the chance to ask the questions you didn’t even know you had.

So, I took charge, as I do, of discovering pieces of my history. What was the woman I was named after like? What was my Grandma like as a kid in the UK? How did she end up in America? Why did she love being an American housewife so much? Did she love it? 

To experience all of this with my partner by my side was the cherry on top. I’ll never take for granted how lucky I am to travel, connect with my roots, and see the world—this is exactly why I work so hard.

Before we even adopted you, I remember bawling my eyes out, afraid I could never love another dog as much as I loved Sonny. But he needed a friend, and as soon as you came into our lives, I realized my heart had plenty of room for you, too. Looking back, I think he always knew our little family of three wasn’t complete until there were four.

You had a life before us, but we fit a whole lifetime into our six years together. Now that you’re both gone, it feels like the closing of a chapter.

People often say, ‘You didn’t look like you were 205 pounds!’ But what does 205lbs really look like? 🤔🤷‍♀️

My coach shed light on the toll our bodies endure as full-time personal trainers: constant stress from lifting weights, demonstrating exercises, blaring music non-stop, clattering weights, and always being ‘on’ (personality-wise).

Combine that with a poor diet, and that’s how I reached 205.

So, I made some changes:

I prioritized sleep, which meant hitting the hay by 7:30 PM. It wasn’t glamorous, but it beat feeling sluggish all day.

I embraced meal prepping, whipping up 10-12 meals per week using time-saving techniques like the air fryer, crockpot, microwave veggies, and rice cooker. #lazycook

I stuck to my workout routine, hitting the gym 4 times a week.

And crucially, I had the support of my partner. I can’t stress enough how pivotal this is for anyone.

Check out Spencer’s progress in just under 5-months! 

We started working together 3x / week in a Full Body routine.  This lasted 3-months. 

The last 2-months Spencer was really interested in committing to strength training 5x / week. 

We kept working together 3x / week on a Split Routine while he learned to hold himself accountable for the other 2x / week. 

His accountability for himself paid off and we implemented a hybrid system: 1x / week in-person training, the rest online training. 

The results speak for themselves!

I did my part, yes. But what you can’t see are the countless hours he spent learning about what works for him in terms of diet, sleep, and so on. 

Spencer dabbled in the gym in his early 20’s with his brothers when they were just punk kids (hehe) but as an adult he struggled to find a medium that [continuously] worked for him. He ran through countless reruns of P90X, BeachBody, and Pelaton. 

We’ve found something sustainable for him - which is bitchin’! 

Side note: I won’t ever labels a picture ‘after’ because there’s never an after. It’s always ‘in progress’. Your routine shouldn’t stop because you finally hit your goal.

Good lawd this was a labor of love 🥹 

This number includes me helping clients load their weight (plates, dumbbells, & barbells). This does NOT include benches, accessory pieces (ropes, bars, sleds etc) or my own workout. 

My volume for my own workouts each week is somewhere around 70k (upper: ~9-12k / lower: ~21-30k). 

So, we’re talking between 80-95k a week.

Using a trap bar can allow you to lift ~10-15% more than a conventional barbell deadlift. 

Spencer recently pulled 500 on the trap bar 🎉 we decided to fart around one day and see what he could pull conventional. 

He ended up pulling 385 after having already completed 6 lower body exercises. That’s almost 80% of his trap bar max. We’re pretty confident he can pull 400 - did you see his unintended pause deadlift? 😅
