Shooting with naomihopkinsphoto has always been an exact puzzle piece fit to my creative visions. Her editing has always been my favorite and she can make anything look magical. I’ve been ‘blogging’ for 11 years. I never fit into the mold that spoke to the masses or hauls that would go viral. Deep in my soul, I didn’t believe in consumption ‘hauls’. I actually shop with the intention of finding something I love so much that I don’t ever want to buy another one. I want it to live forever in my closet like my horse coat. Or wear something every single day because I cannot get enough of it. I played the game for years and towed the line of doing things my own way. I hit 100K early on (2018) and rode the influencer wave. After 2020, TikTok changed everything and everyone became an influencer in some way. That’s fine, everyone can do whatever they want. But despite people saying there is room for everyone… brand marketing budgets are not. I didn’t want to fight for campaigns that were half a fit or plead my talent for pennies. Or live online anymore. OR do constant consumption hauls. I don’t want to tell you to constantly buy things just to make commission. I literally couldn’t do it. That’s when I knew I wasn’t here for the money, but the fashion. My burn rate was slow but it reached a point a year ago that I just wanted to be done. Doors were being closed in my face left and right. But my creativity had to get out somehow because that’s the core of who I am. Thrifting content was so fun but I was still burnt out on forward facing anything. I wasn’t trying to go viral, I actually wanted to leave the internet. I craved my skill being online or viral, not my face. I had a mentor tell me I needed to just create my own clothing line. But truly, I didn’t want my own clothing line. I’m not a designer, I’m a stylist and there is a huge difference. I recognize what I’m talented at and what I’m not. I can put anything together and just know what works. I. Just. Know. I don’t want to create it myself. I want to find it and make it a part of my own puzzle. I asked the universe for an answer. to find my passion my way. And 6 months later, the answer came. It was an idea. A thought. A girl who needed my yes to match hers. But I knew it. I knew it was the project of a lifetime from absolute scratch. I don’t want my own room, bed or space. On a girls trip I want to be transported back to our innocent energetic girlhood; of the comfort of our best friends. I want to squeeze into beds and have music blaring while getting ready reminiscent of our days together on spring breaks or in our childhood bedrooms on college summer breaks. These kinds of bonds will keep us young and allow us to joyfully and nostalgically bring out the silliness of a different time and version of ourselves, that among our life’s lessons, kids, and additional layers added on, will bring us back to these people that still live in us and are part of our make up. What a blessing it is to have friends that know all the versions of who we are, past and present, and love no matter what. I love the scarf belt trend so much. It’s perfect with a sheer top to start so you don’t feel so bulky, and this one is my favorite. My denim cut offs are just an old pair of madewell jeans that I cut long ago because I was psychic and knew the jorts trend was coming.
