![Glow life these days:
- Kicking off our masterclass tour in Miami and seeing our community IRL in celebration of our 10 year anniversary was SO energizing 💜 We were inspired by that aha moment we had all those years ago in Sarah’s apartment over sheet-masking and wine and we wanted to recreate how it all started. So proud of our team for creating a cozy, safe environment where we were all barefaced together and having fun sharing each step of the routine. Round 2 is in Boston today and more to come!
- It’s been a few weeks since we launched our first retinol treatment, Blackberry Retinol Serum - it was a multi-year labor of love to create something that was potent but also ultra gentle and hydrating. ![I was honored to be back in St. Louis this weekend as the commencement speaker for Wash U’s Olin Business School. It was unreal to stand in the same auditorium that I graduated in, exactly 20 years ago. I remember being so excited and hopeful at the time for what was to come but understandably also uncertain and apprehensive, a swirl of emotions. ![When we first started to brainstorm the Dew You Campaign, the question was how can we make everyone feel like they could truly be part of our brand campaign? The answer: we wouldn’t see our models… until they were casted.
We reviewed 2500 applications with beautifully written answers about what beauty and selfcare meant to our community and in partnership with the Glow Recipe Diversity Advisory Board and a third party diversity consulting agency we chose a group of 10 diverse models from all walks of life - sight unseen. The energy on the shoot day was palpable and seeing these beautiful models radiant and confident in front of camera without any makeup, just Dew Drops was unforgettable. SO proud of the amazing Glow Recipe team for working so hard on every aspect of this campaign.
We are beyond excited to announce the roll out of our first ever global out of home campaign in cities like NYC, SF, Miami, London, Toronto & Chicago and share the spirit in which this campaign started - celebrating our community 💗 (Please send us photos if you see us popup in your city! 🍉)]()

![When we first started Glow Recipe at the end of 2014, it took months before I shared the news with my parents. I knew how worried they would be about my leaving a stable job at L’Oreal that I enjoyed. I also worried that their questions about practicalities like insurance, security and the best interests of our very young daughter would shake my faith in what I believed this could become. Coming from a family where almost no one was an entrepreneur, it felt as if I was sailing away to another universe where there was no map they could use to follow.
Over the years they would ask about the business and I would share bits and pieces, but they still worried so much that I found myself glossing over the details. As an only daughter, I’ve always felt close to my parents but it was strange to not share more about the company and brand I felt so passionate about building every day.
My parents visited us in NYC this month after almost 4 years of not seeing each other during the pandemic. I felt especially lucky that they were able to see our first ever window at Sephora stores - it made what seemed like a vague dream something tangible and real. They were able to see our bay on the wall (“It’s so big!” 😂) and customers shopping our products. I’m already deeply grateful for what Glow Recipe is today - an incredible community of customers, Glow team members and partners like sephora that wholeheartedly supported us from day 1. Today, however, as I saw my mom and dad’s eyes shining, it felt like a missing piece of this journey clicked into place. And of course true to family photo style, there’s not a single photo were we’re all looking at the camera or our eyes aren’t closed but here we are ❤️ #glowrecipe]()

![I’m excited to be in Melbourne for our first ever popup in 🇦🇺! Australia has always been a deeply meaningful place to me - I actually attended high school on the Gold Coast for 3 years and it’s a special homecoming to be able to come here and meet our customers in person. It feels like just yesterday we were launching a handful of products at Mecca and coming back now to see our products at the stores brings me back to those high school days where I would walk through beauty stores arm in arm with friends, so curious and eager to try everything. 🥺

Peanut was in her room a lot this week working on a ‘secret project’. When she finally handed me this painstakingly hand-stitched felt Papaya Serum, it was the best (slightly belated) birthday gift ever. We just started sewing together this year with her Halloween costume and I had no idea she had saved the fabric scraps to work on this. She asked me what I thought and I told her it checked all the boxes - great ingredients, lightweight fluffy texture and sensorial, cozy packaging 😂

![It’s truly a surreal moment to see our thoughts about AAPI Heritage month in Times Square. Thank you to Sephora for this opportunity and for giving us the platform to speak to causes that are deeply meaningful to us.
I’m very often reminded of both how far things have come but also how far we have to go, living in NYC. Coming to this city over a decade ago, it was a revelation that there was a space so diverse and bustling, that I could occupy it without constantly being made aware of being ‘different’. The tragic incidents over the last few years however, have been an abrupt reminder of how fragile this sense of security and belonging can be for so many.
My hope is that we continue to have challenging and difficult conversations and to come together as a larger community to support one another. I’m also a big believer in helping to tell AAPI stories as this highlights the nuanced intricacies of so many different cultures, traditions and people within the AAPI community - and acknowledging this is the first step to overcoming stereotyping that creates often dangerous prejudices and denies the individuality of the minority experience.
This month we’re also incredibly excited to announce our first ever collaboration in May with 8 AAPI brands and founders from different backgrounds and walks of life who deeply inspire me every day. The Celebrating AAPI Beauty Box was created to celebrate our diverse cultures and $10 from every box will be donated to a cause that benefits AAPI elders. 👉 to see! ![Sunscreen when I was young was about wiggling away as my mother tried to smear thick, goopy spf on whatever body parts she could reach
Sunscreen as a teenager was about conveniently 'forgetting' to wear it more often than not - which turned out was no joke under the Australian sun. 😅

![November is the month we officially started Glow Recipe 7 (!) years ago. I’m still blown away every time someone says they know the brand, use our products. It makes my week to get messages that we’ve helped someone’s skin or that a piece of content or post we’ve done is educational or uplifting. And it especially feels this way because those early years of building Glow Recipe step by step are memories that are still very real and immediate to me. Each and every customer we’ve been able to meet over the years - in those early days, it was all a dream. More than anything, I’m grateful for our Glow Gang and this community we’ve built together over the years - thank you 🙏.

- Our first ever popup in Soho in 2017, where we first introduced Glow Recipe Skincare. We teared up to see the line on opening day even though it was raining. Didn’t realize until week 1 that you have to apply for a trash collection permit when operating a retail store which was a learning exp 😂
- My favorite merch item ever - Animal Crossing Glow Gang Sweater
- Our rockstar team proactively proposed doing a consultation event for our community on IG and answered over 1000 comments. I was 🤯 by both our team & how much customers loved this.
- Handwritten cards we used to send our customers. At the end of each day we’d pack boxes and write cards until our hands cramped. We sadly had to stop this in yr 1, because we couldn’t keep up.
- First ever social post on glowrecipe from Nov 2014, a composition of random objects like eggs (?) and some minor 🥑 foreshadowing. Grateful for our social team who doesn’t let us post anymore.
- First ever west coast popup in LA where we met so many amazing customers (should we do another one?)
- One of the most important things we’ve done as a company are the commitments made to use language that normalizes real skin and skin acceptance.
- A doodle I did to celebrate 4k IG followers. It’s surreal to think we’re almost at 1M 🙏

![Vitamin C is my jam - I adore this ingredient in my skincare and I can see a difference when it’s regularly a part of my routine. I think it can also be one of those ingredients you have a love/hate relationship with despite all of the skin benefits - the stinging, the greasiness, the scent, the formula that turns deep brown or orange after just a few months of use.
With Guava Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum, we wanted to create a treatment that had all the upsides of Vit C with less of the downsides. We were beyond excited to work w our labs to create a unique complex that has THD Ascorbate, an oil-soluble, stable form of Vit C plus 4 different water soluble Vit Cs in a dual encapsulation that helps w absorption, gently time releases AND keeps it stable. (👉 to see the a mini explanation of this technology) This combined with tranexamic acid - another multi-tasking ingredient we’ve been dying to use in a formulation - and antioxidant rich guava extract helps with dark spots, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Plus it also has ferulic acid and Vit E in a juicy but lightweight texture that isn’t sticky and absorbs quickly. 💦 I truly believe that it’s important to enjoy your skincare so that you reach for it consistently so we really wanted to think through the overall experience of Guava Serum.
I’ve been pairing Guava with Dew Drops in the morning and Plum Plump at night and the glow is real ✨. We’re so excited for this launch and can’t wait for you to try this!
