An unplugged autumn camping trip in the mountains. 🍂⛺️🍄🍁🧦 We haven’t done a first-come-first-serve, free campsite since we lived in our van back in 2021. Chad had been dying to take me to this special spot in the mountains for months now, and so, we packed up our camping gear and our dogs and went for it! The site was tucked in a national forest and right beside a running creek, so we watched clouds race before our eyes under the light of the full moon, to the continuous sound of the water and the trees. Mushrooms were growing all around us, and leaves fell in slow motion from the trees above. We never knew what time it was, aside from guesses based off of where the sun was in the sky— it felt good to be disconnected from everything else in that way. It was cool to revisit what felt like an old chapter in our lives, but this time, as 27 year olds (rather than 22-23 year olds) and with two little dogs. It’s officially soup season!!! 🍲🍂🧦🧺🍪 I decided to host an autumn soup soirée, where everyone brought a simmering creation of their own, and I had the most lovely time sampling soups of all kinds. (If you’ve ever wanted to experience a soup buffet, this is truly the party to throw hahaha.) I wanna say a huge props to the ladies for driving through the winding countryside roads with pots of hot soup balancing in their backseats, because wow, that was some true dedication to make this gathering a reality. 😂 From classic favorites, like traditional chili and creamy chicken noodle, to fun twists, like German kitchen soup and pumpkin gnocchi soup (my contribution haha), we had a massive spread of NINE soups to try! It was all accompanied by homemade sourdoughs, pumpkin breads, seasonal drinks, and a tasty variety of sweet treats. I’d decided to transform my back deck to something similar to a coffee house patio, inspired by the Norwegian cafes we visited this past summer. There were freshly picked flowers, flickering candles, cozy blankets, and glowing string lights hanging all around us. This is one of those moments we can’t stop thinking about. 👇 
One of the main reasons we decided to travel in July, even though we usually don’t, was to finally see the midnight sun. 🌅 It was our first time experiencing it and we chose to do it from a kayak in Lofoten. On the way there, the sky was completely overcast and we weren’t sure if we’d see anything at all… but once we were out on the water, the clouds slowly parted, almost like nature wanted to make sure our first time was a special one. Truly one of the most magical things we’ve ever experienced! ✨

We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to celebrate our anniversary. 🥹 We love a candlelight dinner, but this year we swapped it for fresh air and hiking boots. Not saying a Norwegian cinnamon bun will solve all your problems… but it might just make you forget them for a little while 😅 Honestly, one of the things that inspired our trip to Norway was the famous Norwegian bakery scene and especially their cinnamon buns. So soft, fluffy, fresh out of the oven and just the right amount of sweet. There’s something about sitting by the ocean, the salty breeze in the air, wrapped up on a cozy day and tasting something so simple yet so perfect… it’s pure joy. 😍 If only we could have an unlimited supply at home haha. Did I (Claire) outfish Chad? 😜 Okay, technically, he caught more…but, I wasn’t expecting to reel in an Atlantic cod as my very first fish! 🎣 We went on a fishing boat tour in Lofoten and couldn’t have asked for better conditions: calm seas, great people, and seven fish caught in total! It was only our fourth time fishing together, so we were shocked we caught anything at all hahaha 😄 Lofoten has a rich fishing history that dates back to the Viking Age and getting to be a small part of that was something special. Tap for more info 👇 448 meters might not sound like much, but after THOUSANDS of steps straight up a mountain, our legs felt every single one. It took us about an hour to reach the top of Reinebringen, and as the clocks struck midnight, we were rewarded with this view. 🤯 The midnight sun was hiding behind periwinkle clouds, casting a soft glow that reflected on the sea below. It felt surreal in every way! ✨ Hiking between 10 PM and 2 AM was such an unforgettable part of our time in Norway. Here’s to our 5-year wedding anniversary! 🌿🧳👒🌼🐟☀️🥾 Marriage continues to be one of the most marvelous, challenging, heart-warming, patient, forgiving, and rewarding relationships I’ve ever had the chance to experience. When we got married at 22, we were both still discovering our personal identities, meaning we had the chance to grow together, tremendously, as a team. One of the most wonderful things we learned was how to love and respect the other person in the way they feel loved and respected. It’s easy to show love in the ways we were raised, but harder to show love in ways that feel foreign to us. We started to understand what parts of each other are parts that need to be accepted, and what parts are parts that could be challenged. We began to understand what brings each other purpose, how to best serve and communicate to each other, and how grace and patience are some of the greatest gifts we could ever receive. Getting to where we are now took more work than we ever thought possible, and that is why we’re celebrating big for this one! It ended up being one of the most surprising countries we visited in Europe, in all the best ways. We explored Ljubljana’s charming old town, wandered through jaw-dropping castles, and spent slow days soaking in the storybook views of Lake Bled. But the real surprise?
