I’ve been getting a lot of question about my staycation at thebetsyhotel so here’s everything you need to know!✨

This is my fourth staycation in Miami, second in South Beach, and I really love doing staycations because it puts you in a completely different mindset and perspective of our beautiful home city 😍 I mean we really do live where people vacation!

Best part of staycation is you don’t have to worry about how big, heavy, or how much luggage you have because you’re not flying anywhere!

You also don’t have to spend additional money traveling so it’s a great way to have a small little vacay at a lower cost 💲

I do think, this has been my favorite staycation location. The Betsy Ross REALLY surprised me with the amount of amenities it had, the INCREDIBLE hospitality, and the size of the property!!

You can feel that this is a hotel that is loved and taken care of and isn’t just some chain hotel looking to take your money.

I HIGHLY recommend staycationing here and for my outside visitors, this is a great hotel to stay at in Miami Beach!!

It’s also a great location! At the edge of Ocean Drive so you’re close to the action but there’s still peace and quiet 😌

Leave any questions in the comments below! ⬇️

✨The end of a beautiful era🥺🩷✨ Johan’s last time teaching at Brickell Yoga 😭

~7 years ago I stepped into a Monday night Power Vinyasa class and met arqui_yogi

I was going through the toughest period of my life. I was entering adulthood in full force and I felt dizzy from the never-ending rollercoaster.

Then Johan taught me how to breath 🌬️

Yoga requires you to use a combination of your physical body, your mind, your soul, and your breath.

Your mind is fighting you through the practice - break, break, break- and through the power of your breath, you remain calm.

Yoga has guided me through my 20s and I am heartbroken that my one of my longest habits is no more, at least in its original form.

Life changes and evolves. I’ve been experiencing a lot of that this year. Perhaps because it’s my last year in my 20s.

Overall, I’m so grateful to brickellyoga (previously Om Beats), to Johan, and to every regular yogi of Johan’s class. He always attracted the best people and I loved practicing with his crowd.

I’ll absolutely be going to his other classes in other studios but this studio is very special to me since this is where my love for yoga started.

I love you so much Johan!!!!!! Thank you for your amazing energy!!!

Namaste 🙏🏽✨

Let me tell you Moor about one of Miami’s oldest theaters!✨

The Olympia Theater is a beautiful jewel that sits on Flagler Street, hunkering the area down. The architect, John Eberson, was famous for building majestic theaters all around the world including in Paris, France, Sydney, Australia, and many states in the USA.

Out of the 500 theaters that Eberson built there are less than 30 remaining, including the Olympia Theater.

The theater is designed in a Moorish Revival style, it has a shimmering night sky, elegant statues, and is painted to look like a Mediterranean courtyard.

There is currently a deal in the making, in collaboration with SLAM Miami (local public charter arts school), Miami-Dade College, and the Gusman Foundation to fully restore and renovate the theater, use the 13 floors above the theater as classrooms and office space for the school and other amenities, and put the Olympia Theater to use for the community once again!

This is very exciting news after waiting many years to find an educational organization that WANTED to restore the theater and HAD the funds to so.

Just a little something to take the edge off✨

There’s no better place to celebrate a special occasion or make a regular day INTO an occasion, than at Amara 😍

The Bayside Brunch was a spectacular selection of Breakfast foods, Raw bar, meats and fish, vegetables, and most importantly, desserts. They even had a juice bar with 10 different options!!

My parents and I had a spectacular time celebrating my mom. My favorite drinks were from the coconut bar and my favorite dessert was the Pistachio Raspberry Tart 🥥🌟

Happy Leo season to all who celebrate! 🪩
and happy Miami Spice month too!

I LOVE Miami Spice, it’s the best time to try out high-end/expensive restaurants in Miami without breaking your budget, and there’s less tourists in town so Miami feels cozier.

Amara at Paraiso participates in Miami Spice so it’s the best time to go and check it out! 🙌🏽

🚨TODAY IS THE CITY OF MIAMI’S 129TH BIRTHDAY!!🚨In honor of that, let’s learn about the origin story of Miami ✨

This isn’t the story you hear every day but it’s the story you need to know.

It’s more commonly known that Julia Tuttle convinced Henry Flagler to move his railroad all the way south by sending him a basket of oranges after the 1984-85 Winter Freeze that killed agriculture in Central and North Florida, but it turns out that may not be the full story.

This is the argument that Mary Brickell was arguably a more impactful citizen in the creation of Miami and the questioning of why she was overlooked.

Some of the reasons Mary Brickell was more impactful include:

✨Mary and her husband had been in Miami since 1871, a whole 20 years before Julia Tuttle, who arrived in 1891.

✨Julia Tuttle was only in Miami for 8 years until her death in 1989, 2 years after the incorporation of Miami. Mary Brickell spent 51 years in Miami, controlling her land, and making decisions on the development of the city.

✨Mary was listed as the deed owner for many of her and her husbands over 2000 acres of land (in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale). Which speaking of acres of land, Julia Tuttle owned 640 acres, a stark difference between the two parties.

✨The Brickells had also been discussing a railroad with Flagler way before Tuttle but this is not to discredit Julia’s impact on Miami because Henry Flagler intermingled with both parties but in the end he seemed to be more receptive to Tuttle.

The real question is why?

Yes you know what, I like cruises. I like being in a “little” walkable city where I can workout, eat good, play, drink, and maybe even learn something new!

I feel like if you don’t like cruises you just went on a bad one. Each cruise line has its own vibe, similar to how each neighborhood in Miami has its own atmosphere.

Do you want to explore? Do you want to relax? Do you want something for the whole family? You can find something for you.

I have been on many cruise lines but I haven’t sailed with Princess just yet so I hope to learn more about the company and more importantly, how they stay environmentally efficient.

My main issue with cruising is sustainability but many cruise lines are tackling that and I hope we can put more public pressure for change (in every industry, truthfully).

What are your thoughts on cruising??

✨ON THIS DAY JULY 14TH 1897: The first person was buried in Miami City Cemetery 🪦

It is also the ONLY public cemetery in Miami-Dade County and is managed by City of Miami Parks Dept 🌳

You can find a lot of Miami pioneers buried here and interestingly enough, only the descendants of the deed owners can be buried here 😶‍🌫️

It’s also worth noting how this is one of the last remnants we have left of the cultural practice of picnicking and lounging in cemeteries as if they were parks. It was very commonplace before the 20th century and I think we should bring back the custom of taking your time to mourn.

What do you think?? Will you picnic at the Miami City Cemetery sometime soon?

amaraatparaiso is an incredibly beautiful waterfront restaurant in Edgewater that boasts beautiful views and the best oyster deal in Miami 🦪✨

You all know I LOVE oysters so I’m always on the lookout for good spots and you really can’t beat this one. Great views, great ambience, great service, and the BEST oysters.

I love to pair the oysters with chefmschwartz signature Turmeric Tonic 🧡

Watching the FIFA Club World Club on a 100’ Hisense TV was exhilarating!

In the backdrop of Duffy’s sports bar in North Miami, we watched as Inter Miami FC went against the Ah Ahly club team. Although no one scored a point, there were some notable moments including Miami’s incredible goalie, keeping the ball out of the goal.

There were some tense moments where false goals were scored but overall it was a fun game to watch and I had a great time at the Hisense watch party!
