How to Brew using the Gemini Express The Gemini makes my favorite stovetop espresso. Here’s how I make it… Start a kettle with filtered water — you don’t need to boil it, just get it close to boiling. I use this to pre-heat the water and have extra to add to the espresso. You can also skip this step and heat water in the Gemini, just make sure to heat on medium-low to avoid a bitter cup. Measure out your coffee by just filling the basket Grind on medium-fine — changing the grind setting is your best tool for getting different flavor When the water’s ready, I measure out how much to add by filling the espresso cups I’m going to brew into. But do one-and-a-half times your cup volume, because you’re going to lose some water to saturating your ground coffee. Never fill above the little spout on the side of the water chamber. Put your basket in, fill it with your coffee. Smooth it out, and put the screen on with the knob facing up. This helps you get a more even extraction. Spin the top of the Gemini on your brew basket. Set your burner to medium low. Put the Gemini on, place your espresso cup, and wait. You can brew into 2 espresso cups side by side. The cups can get hot and a little messy on the plate, so one thing I like to do is brew into 2 cups, and then decant into the cup or mug I’m going to drink out of. Now you’re waiting to hear the gurgle sound of the coffee percolating. Once you hear it, keep your eye on the cups and cut the heat once they’re nearly full or no more coffee is coming out of the spout. Pull your espresso and enjoy. You can add a little water for an americano-style cup. Do NOT clean your Gemini in a dishwasher. To clean, cool it off under water in the sink. After it’s cool, disassemble and clean all the parts. You can pat out the coffee grounds into your compost. To keep your Gemini looking clean, you can get some Cafiza or other espresso cleaner to soak the parts and it will make it look like new. 2025-08-06 02:14:39 .. 275 -46% 7 +2%
