In the Maciel family and the Alta Mogiana region, Terra Preta farm should also receive merit as it was one of the first ones in 2006/2007 to have a roasted brand of coffee and sell it to consumers. They are a great example of farmers diversifying sources of income, including selling roasted beans, green coffee and African mahogany timber at Terra Preta farm. 2025-03-11 21:58:24 In the Maciel family and .. 16 -36% 1 -47%
While we are in a cold, wet England, the coffee cherries are being massaged and sunbathing between 12 hours to 30 days in drying patios. Instead of a gym workout, here you can see the farm workers rotating the coffee cherries. This happens once every hour a day (during daylight hours) so that the coffee is dried evenly. 2025-03-07 19:45:35 While we are in a cold, w.. 15 -40% 2 +6%
Coffee stocks across the world in consumer countries are now like gold dust. We are not different to where we are. We are a small independent importer, and every single time a container arrives, the managing directors load or unload every single bag. Direct trade is, for us, being able to buy directly from the farmer and represent them in an authentic representation of their hard work. 2025-03-05 18:30:18 Coffee stocks across the .. 37 +48% 2 +6%
Here is the washing station at the Agua Santa farm. The coffee that is harvested is brought to this machine, often by tractor, and the unripe cherries, the ripe cherries and the floater cherries are separated with water. You can see Leandro and Sr Luiz discussing the new washing machine that would be installed in the following year. Now, in this upcoming crop of 2025, the machine will be in use. 2025-03-03 17:02:40 Here is the washing stati.. 20 -20% 2 +6%
Coffee has complexities in every single stage from planting, producing, growing, harvesting, processing, exporting, roasting, tasting and drinking. Different coffees need to be roasted the same, brewed the same and slurped (the act of drinking them) in the same way to get an unbiased and accurate characteristic of the coffee. This is done at the origin and in the UK. 2025-03-01 16:38:34 Coffee has complexities i.. 11 -56% 1 -47%
All Sao Lucas coffee goes through the processing facility of the Bom Jesus farm. The Sao Lucas coffee is characteristic of having a very nutty taste that resembles peanuts. This is thanks to Douglas, pictured above, as he’s responsible for quality control at Labareda and only selects coffee that reaches this specific coffee characteristic to be labelled for Sao Lucas. 2025-02-27 18:55:37 All Sao Lucas coffee go.. 38 +52% 4 +113%
This Paineira very much symbolises the Terra Preta farm. The farm comes from a deep-rooted tradition connected to Brazilian history including the folk story of a great-great-grandfather who was part of a revolution that tried to make Sao Paulo independent at the beginning of the 20th century. This Paineira tree is without leaves as this photo was taken during the winter time in Brazil. The same can be said of the coffee trees that have just gone through the mechanical harvest. #coffeefarm #coffee #specialtycoffee #coffeelover #coffeetime #coffeelovers #coffeefarmer #coffeeshop #coffeeproducer #arabicacoffee #farm #cafe #greencoffee #coffeeaddict #coffeetree 2025-02-25 12:30:00 This Paineira very much s.. 22 -12% 1 -47%
Coffee Block, Crude or Frank & Earnest. The truth is I’ve been friends and partners with the same people for now over 8 years. Yet, not being their exclusive supplier, every time I go to visit them, we have a laugh. The world is collapsing with despair and price rises, but we still manage to see a future in coffee. 2025-02-23 14:40:10 Coffee Block, Crude or .. 18 -28% 2 +6%
This is a photo from Bom Jesus of manual harvesting. Manual harvesting is the most expensive method of harvest. We must understand that for the last 15 years, the cost of production and retail price have offered a slim margin to producers that made them reliant on mass volumes, especially in Brazil. It can be a stressful time for roasters, importers, exporters and brokers and a great time to be a farmer but for a small amount of time, we, in the consumer world, are experiencing the volatility that the farmers constantly fear. 2025-02-21 17:32:59 This is a photo from Bom .. 31 +24% 1 -47%
This photo was taken at Agua Santa farm which shows a pulped natural not fermented washed coffee. This is the most valued coffee type in Brazil as it has less quackers. The cost of production of last year’s crop has not risen and all the coffee that has been harvested is coffee that is experiencing the greatest price rise. Yes, to many farmers who have held stock, it’s a great time as the price hits an all-time high. The market carries on with a strong demand and after two years of coffee deficit in production, we are experiencing a perfect price storm with a shortage of supply and an increased demand. 2025-02-19 15:59:10 This photo was taken .. 18 -28% 1 -47%
Livestock is very important for most farmers. It’s known for being cash in the bank as it provides liquidity when needed. Sao Lucas and Bom Jesus farms know that very well as they have cattle and pigs that produce manure that is used for compost, supplying meat for their workers and is also a source of income. Good farmers diversify their sources of production. #coffeefarmer #compost #sustainablefarming #farminglife #livestockfarming 2025-02-17 12:30:00 Livestock is very impor.. 6 -76% 0 -100%
Fernanda Maciel Raucci is Calum’s mother’s cousin. She’s an exemplary woman, farmer and mother. She built her farm from a plot of land that used to be a cattle ranch and didn’t have one coffee tree. Today, the farm has 400,000 coffee trees and her son now also carries her passion. They are both working together on the Terra Preta farm. 2025-02-15 19:56:19 Fernanda Maciel R.. 38 +52% 5 +166%
After a 12-hour round trip (from Norwich to Penrith) I am glad to see 27 tonnes of green coffee arriving from Santos to Felixstowe and departing for their destinations all across the UK. We do a simple job that is important as we represent the farms to tell their story and we are happy to provide great quality green coffee! 2025-02-13 13:27:58 After a 12-hour round tri.. 40 +60% 4 +113%
The picture above is of a proud gentleman who is the chief of the seasonal workers who work in the Bom Jesus and Sao Lucas farms. Seasonal workers in Brazil are different from most pickers in all other coffee-growing regions. As we source from medium and large farms, seasonal workers are all registered to receive pension contributions, food hampers, healthcare and transport provided by the farm owners. This isn’t required by law but it’s good practice that often results in a higher coffee harvest outcome. 2025-02-11 14:10:11 The picture above is .. 44 +76% 2 +6%
Another interesting conversation about a farm tour with the Apple Vision Pro that took place in Lincoln with Stokes, an incredible coffee factory - stokescoffeeroasters. This was the second factory in the UK to receive a Loring roaster. Stokes are traditional roasters that have always been driven by quality, not just price. I am happy that, with the multiple opportunities that they have given us, I am proud to say that we work together! 2025-02-09 20:59:37 Another interesting conve.. 23 -8% 4 +113%
CBI has a few farms in the coffee fields, including Agua Santa, eucalyptus, and some cattle. Much is spoken about carbon credit but little is understood about how sustainable good practice in Brazil is. Did you know that depending on your region, in Brazil, you cannot plant on your own farm? This leaves 20-80% of your farm as an untouched nature reserve. Below you can see some of the nature reserves from Agua Santa. #naturereserve #sustainablecoffee #coffeephotography #coffeefields #coffeedaily #specialitycoffee #singleorigin #coffeeroasters #coffeepeople #specialtycoffeeroaster #roastingcoffee 2025-02-07 19:18:35 CBI has a few farms in th.. 11 -56% 0 -100%
You can see a piece of Brazilian engineering on the Agua Santa farm. The chap in charge of the machine is Oswaldo. Via shaking the tree, the ripe cherries fall into a conveyor belt and then into a trailer. This has removed approximately 90-95% of the workforce compared to when it was harvested manually. This is the most expensive machine that coffee farmers invest in. #farm #greencoffee #singleorigincoffee #coffeefarm #coffee #specialtycoffee #coffeetime #coffeefarmer #coffeeshop #coffeeproducer #coffeebeans #coffeeculture #coffeeroaster #coffeeproduction #coffeegram #coffeelife #coffeegrowers #sustainablecoffee 2025-02-05 16:30:00 You can see a piece of Br.. 15 -40% 1 -47%
Cal’s Coffee is based in the UK with our roots based in Brazil. In this photo, you can see the main product which we trade which is raw green coffee beans. When we are asked about where to buy Cal’s Coffee, we like to point out that it is the roasters who make our coffee with their signature twist. While we supply the raw green coffee, our roasters are the ones supplying you with the final cup of coffee. #braziliancoffee #coffee #cafe #coffeetime #specialtycoffee #cafesdobrasil #coffeebeans #coffeelovers #coffeelover #espresso #caf #coffeeshop #coffeeaddict #cafeespecial #brazil #greencoffee 2025-02-03 16:30:00 Cal’s Coffee is based.. 16 -36% 1 -47%

Cal’s Coffee is available to wait for the right opportunity to connect, regardless of your size if you need 30kg a month or 170 tonnes a month. This rainbow of colours from these cherries at the Agua Santa farm does not dictate the quality, the bean size or the cupping score of your coffee. What you can see in the image is just the natural coffee being dried after it has been harvested and displayed on a patio to be dried by the sun. 2025-01-30 17:08:55 This rainbow of colours f.. 25 - 3 +60%
There’s a lot of talk about sustainability but not as much is actually put into practice. In the photo, you can see manure which is the compost that cows create together with coffee husks and chicken beds (chicken manure). The Sao Lucas farm makes its own compost mix which is both more economical and sustainable. To give you a better understanding of its scale, a farm the size of Sao Lucas and Bom Jesus would need over 6,000 tons of compost yearly. 2025-01-28 12:30:00 There’s a lot of talk a.. 14 -44% 4 +113%
From the broad shoulders of my cousin, Felipe Maciel, (felipemacielraucci) who is a true authentic farmer. We are here for the long game. Despite peaks or lows in the UK, we have survived through a global pandemic, a major frost and now the high prices that haven’t been this high since 1970. 1st impression of Brazil January 2025. Worrying year ahead. On my drive across 3 Brazilian states Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and São Paulo one thing is sure it is raining which is great. But the coffee tree became a tree, with so many leafs. And VERY LITTLE FRUIT. Next couple days in Agua Santa md Bom Jesus more news will come. 2026 seems will be a super crop like never before but it is one and half year from now and a Brazilian winter. Coffee trees are looking healthier. 2025-01-06 15:59:41 1st impression of Brazil.. 20 -20% 1 -47%
