![I’m delighted to report we are water tight, and pretty much back to normal in the conservatory (apart from a few remaining pictures to hang), phew….!! It has meant the wet weather has been even more welcome than usual. We are a shade or two darker now too, with a fresh lick of paint farrowandball Hardwick White, paddy_od_1 THANK YOU, which has made the room feel warmer and even more snug-like!! It’s one of my most favourite colours, originally introduced to me by heavenly Lulu soanebritain when we were working on a gorgeous project together in Twickenham years ago!! I even painted it on the front of the house where I think it looks dreamy!! Xxxx.

In other news … the geraniums are now inside, I took one or two more cuttings and repotted my lemon tree into a bigger pot…. I used a specific citrus potting compost and gave it a big drink and feed with a liquid citrus feed…. I hope she’ll be happy in her new bigger pot..! She will come inside too in a week or two…. Has anyone else brought their geraniums inside yet… c.atherleylondon ..??? .

![The very last day of August, it feels a bit sad and a little bit hard to believe, hasn’t August flown by?…. The Cosmos from the garden keep giving thankfully.. I am reworking (it needs some additions) the late colour in the garden, more on that soon. But I just wanted to wish you all a gentle transition back to the faster pace of September, good luck back to school and back to work…! And a very happy Sunday! Xxxx

![This wall most definitely needed plenty of beautiful planting and something of scale and stature to break it up. We planted lots of gorgeously scented climbing roses, a wisteria, and a few Trachelospermums to cover this sensationally tall wall, and we found this magnificent antique stone trough from our dear friend Darren lichengardenantiques which did all the rest of the heavy lifting visually…. Talented dlx_lighting specified and plumbed in the pipe work, spout and lighting throughout, landcraft_uk carefully and expertly manuevered it from the lorry and into position (which wasn’t at all easy, but as everything was on one level and this is the front of the house it was doable without a crane!) and darling eva_nemeth took these glorious photos for us.. special special thanks to dearest tillydallasgardens who helped me oversee absolutely everything….! Water in the garden, antiques in the garden, the joy and wildlife a water feature brings, include water in your garden wherever and whenever possible]()

![GARDEN EDIT: One enormous advantage of sticking quite close to home this summer (conservatory roof repairs!) …. I’ve had the time and energy to rethink my borders.. AND as much as I love Hydrangea arb Annabelle, I feel she has dominated the sunny border for far too long.. so with the help of my dear friend Buj, we dug two massive plants out, 👀 and in their place I’ve added more shrub roses…. See second photo for varieties…. Rosa Summer Song is a particular new favourite, but brace yourself, she is very very orange as she emerges!! Let me know what you think, are you fans of Summer Song!? ![MY PLATE COLLECTION FLATLAY… I have the onerous task of clearing my conservatory today as the roof is leaking in several spots 😳 the glass is being replaced tomorrow.. So everything has come down off of my plate rack for a thorough clean which is very good for the soul me thinks.. ![What a PERFECT DAY!! I had the great good fortune to be a guest of heavenly mrs_trufflepig for a summer lunch party at her glorious home and garden…. We (the nicest bunch of glorious girls) were lucky enough to be given two stunning outfits by cefinnstudio to wear during the day and in the evening as we explored the charming town of Rye. We chatted, we laughed, we made fun of ourselves and our friendships grew and grew with every passing second. The thegeorgeinrye treated us with exceptional kindness, making us all feel very special indeed.. we dined and laughed lots more, and ate like kings!! THANK YOU SO MUCH Genevieve and Cefinn Studio for a gorgeously spoiling 24 hours!! PR TRIP.

![I had the happy good fortune to visit ritakonig and her garden this morning .. I was struck by how much it has grown and filled out. I also think this is a pretty good example of how to combine a variety of materials in an outdoor space to create interesting and imaginative gardens. The terracotta pots (italian.terrace )work so gorgeously well with the reclaimed York Stone and antique Limestone Setts as does the oversized wicker basket (cleverly chosen by Rita, made by alexander.hoyle ) …. ![Home from a little trip abroad with some exceptionally lovely friends.. to a garden completely out of control…!! But I did manage to collect some lovely flowers this morning, orange is definitely having its moment of glory in the garden now. 🧡🧡Side note, I’m loving my new Nasturium lampshade from birdiefortescue which is from our collaboration, I think it goes so beautifully well with all the other bits and pieces in the DR!! .

In other news, the heat last week has caused the wildflower meadow to go over sooner than usual.. so I will spend the next few days chopping it all back then I will give it a great big drink to help the seeds set.. ![Rosa Dame Judy Dench, is new to me this year…. I love her gorgeous peachy colour…. ! She appears to be a strong vigorous healthy shrub rose, with a delicate scent (which is my only slight criticism… ). Colour and form make up for lack of perfume. ![A few offerings from the garden.. This is the first time I’ve grown these gorgeous little Martagon or Turk’s Cap Lily, (thank you dear robinhhlucas for encouraging me along) Are they not enchanting with their reflexed petals.. ! This one I believe is Lilium x ‘Sunny Morning’ from sarahravensgarden .. I did have to keep a watchful eye on them though l, as there was a nasty black grub-like insect (possibly the larvae from Lily Beetle…. ) under their leaves which also found them irresistible as well as the easier to spot scarlet Lily Beetle.. I do think they are well worth the trouble! I wish you all a happy Sunday, wasn’t the rain yesterday glorious!! .

![Garden walls and trellis covered in climbing roses have always been something I love to specify for clients and enjoy enormously in my own garden…. They help to create vertical and horizontal emphasis and a real Cottage Garden feel which feels charming and somewhat old fashioned…. Haven’t they been exceptionally wonderful this year….? I imagine, in part, due to the lack of blustery wet weather…. How are your garden roses growing? .

TOP TIP: I absolutely believe feeding early in the growing season really helps to give them more flowering power. I start in mid February with a topical multi-purpose feed (generally an organic feed by neudorffpro (not an add) I follow on every two-three weeks alternating between with an organic liquid feed also by Neudorff and maxicropuk an organic seaweed feed.. i think it also helps to fend off other deseases roses seem to be prone to. I am praying for rain, and wishing you a glorious week ahead..! .

I was once asked by the heavenly hortihack for gardens_illustrated in a podcast interview.. Easter or Christmas.. ?? I naturally stumbled and quite honestly wanted to choose both, but I picked Easter, for all the reasons illustrated here.. all the flowers are from my own garden and isn’t that the most joyous, exciting thing about Easter and Spring…. !? ![EASTER TABLE IDEAS: I had the enormous pleasure and fun to create a flower filled Spring / Easter themed table scape for darling skyemcalpine and skyemcalpinetavola using all of her beautiful plates, glasses, bud vases and candlesticks…. My intention was to create as much colour, pattern, texture, and joy on the table as possible with a vast range Tulips and Daffs from both my garden and annabrownflowers (all British grown I’m proud to report! ) I added giant pink Ric Rac to the edge of the yellow stripy fabric (mollymahonblockprinting) to further the yellow and pink idea, layer upon layer of colour to make for a very happy table!!
