I really wanted the Louis Vuitton Baume Lipstick to be something special and the truth is that it just isn’t - it’s unremarkable. It feels quite a thick formula and I can feel the wax element on my lips. It’s lip softening and feels premium but not to the level that I feel it should a) for the brand and b) for the money. Last is about the same as any other balm and despite it being listed as a red shade - it’s called Red Pulse - there is a lot of pink in it. It’s a pinky-red rather than a reddy-pink. I know that Chat GPT still has a lot to learn but I ran the question of comparative ingredient lists (without the colour ingredients) through in several different ways but it suggested Clarins Hydra-Essential Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm (strong match), Everdene’s Super Rich Lip Balm and Bioderma Cicabio Lip Repair as close matches. It also identified Guerlain KissKiss Be Glow as having a strong footing in foundational ingredients making it very similar ‘this makes their texture and lip-protective performance quite comparible’. When I ran it though ChatGPT and included the colour ingredients, it gave me Dior Addict Lip Glow - so same owning company (LVMH) is coming up as a theme. For the sake of argument however, many lip balms have similar base ingredients because that’s what makes them balms. I have very mixed feelings about paying £120 for a lipstick for all the obvious reasons. I’m always happy to buy product if I think it’s going to be of relevance but I definitely felt the pinch on this one and not just financially. My new Gucci Goldie Red Voile is a thing of joy - the tote with the Gucci logo was a complete surprise. I always advise, if you’re buying designer beauty, that you buy direct from the brand because they will often have a gift with purchase or include samples where as generic beauty stores don’t. Goldie Red (voile) is the only lipstick I put on with no other products at all and still feel made up in a low key, high style (I try!) kind of a way. It’s been my go-to shade ever since Gucci discontinued Rene Pink (still not forgiven or forgotten) and I can’t imagine not having it in my make up stash. I completely forgot that r.e.m. is Ariana Grande’s beauty brand! These two products are holiday mode - sheer and easy wear. Hype? Hell, no! A new tubing mascara that’s immaculate. This gave me separated, black and long lashes and did not move all day - what you see now is an 8 hour wear and it’s still perfect and exactly as it was when I first applied. The Tursian Extreme Hydration Nutrition Mask is epic for skin that’s dry from the sun, the wind or the wine ;-). A luxury buy at £75 but I’ve been craving for a really good face mask for a long time and this is definitely fulfilling on its promises. I don’t mind going in on a trend especially if it includes gloss. Glow Recipe has nailed the Bingsoo Lip look with their three Glass Balms - Strawberry Bingsoo, Ice Bingsoo and Blackberry Bingsoo. They’re very flavoured, very shiny and very fun. Very happy with Studio London Dew Dream Glow Filter (shade 3) because of the lightfulness and radiance it's creating on my older skin. At £8, it's genuinely matching like products five times the price. Blush shade is It's Hot and it's really my perfect shade - at £4 it feels like an absolute snip.
