Comment 'India' and I will personally DM you the link of the youtube video.

After Indian got Independence in 1947, we started building some of the largest Urban experiments known to mankind. This year, we celebrate 78 years of Independence, so in my latest youtube video we take a look back at some of the cities that India built after 1947. Comment 'India' for the link.

Also I Just wanted to give a little more clarity on the video. So Navi Mumbai was only termed as a failure because the initial objective that it started with could not be achieved. A big part of which was moving government institutions and the CBD from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. It was an administrative issue not a design issue. Since then ofcourse Navi Mumbai has become a successful and popular city in its own right, however the video was only highlighting the initial objectives.

Have you ever been to Navi Mumbai?

What would you do if you got a call inviting you for a private tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan?
A few weeks ago, this actually happened to me.

The team at C P Kukreja Architects reached out and invited me to join an exclusive tour they were organizing of one of India’s most iconic buildings — the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India. Of course, I said yes. But I was not prepared for what I was about to experience.

Walking into the Rashtrapati Bhavan feels like stepping into a world where scale, precision, and meaning come together in the most extraordinary way. Every corridor, every hall, every detail feels like it has a story to tell. It’s not just a building; it’s a work of art.

What struck me most was how deeply cultural elements were woven into the architecture. One detail that stayed with me — the capitals of the columns inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan are decorated with bells. Yes, bells — like the ones we often see in Indian temples — carefully carved in stone. A small but powerful reminder of how Indian identity and tradition are subtly but proudly present throughout the space. It’s this blend of monumental scale and intimate cultural references that makes the Rashtrapati Bhavan so special.

Did you know it’s the second-largest residence of any head of state in the world, after the Quirinal Palace in Italy? It has 340 rooms — we only saw a fraction of it, but even that was unforgettable.

After the tour, I had the chance to sit with Dikshu Kukreja and Arunima Kukreja to learn more about the C P Kukreja Foundation and the amazing work they are doing to support designers and architecture students across India.

What made the day even more memorable was spending it with fellow creators and friends Utsav, Sourabh, and Sonika. There’s something incredible about experiencing such a space together and having deep conversations about design, architecture, and the power of storytelling.

Huge thanks to C P Kukreja Architects for this opportunity!

I was an intern when this project was being made, and hence I was a part of the design team. Honestly working on this project was such a surreal experience and now I get to share a part of that with you.
