Try this on your next trip to Tokyo! 🇯🇵

Riding a jinrikisha, aka a rickshaw, was never on my Japan bucket list, but doing it was so fun. I did some research and riding rickshaws apparently dates back to the 19th century and was a common job for male workers in Asia. Now it’s done purely for tourism purposes - you get to explore and learn more about the city in you’re in 🤓

Today we met Kenny (asakusa_rickshaw) and he was so cool and fun! He took us around Asakusa and gave us some fun facts and history, both old and new, about the area. Kenny speaks English, so definitely let him know if you’re down to explore with him! 🏃🏻‍♂️

This sweet potato spread from Don Quijote is my new favorite thing this fall 🍠

All you do is spread it on some bread and pop it in your toaster over (regular oven works too) and your sweet treat is complete! Make it extra sweet with some honey drizzled on top 😋

Technically these guys are called tanuki, not actually raccoons lol 🦝

Tanuki Doori, or Raccoon Dog Street, is just a short walk away from the giant red lantern at Asakusa. It’s believed that if you rub the bellies of these raccoon dogs, you’ll be blessed with a multitude of gifts from good health, to happiness, to love 🩵

If you wanna come here, just look up the Sanrio store on Google maps, and you should be able to find this street right across! 🇯🇵

Until now, I’ve only ever seen unagi, aka freshwater eel, grilled and glazed in a sweet and salty sauce. So when I saw this salt grilled version, I knew I had to try it. It was honestly SO good. We could really taste the unagi for what it was with no distractions. Highly recommend giving it a shot 🇯🇵

Which is crazier, ramen for breakfast or ramen for ¥500? 🍜

This ¥500 morning ramen had been on my list for SO long since I’d seen it circulating on social media. It always looked good in pics, but the price tag made me wonder how good it could really be. It was actually quite a decent bowl of ramen 🤔

You can choose shoyu or ramen and I noticed they had another bowl for ¥800 that included an egg and one or two additional toppings. If you’re in the area early, I think it’s worth a visit ☀️

Have you ever had a steamed donut before? 🍩

hocus pocus might have my favorite donuts in Tokyo. I love their steamed donuts- their texture is so satisfying. Obviously not oily at all since they’re not fried and the flavors are always so unique. They often have Japanese flavors such as matcha and kokuto (Japanese brown sugar) and they have a few specials that rotate 🙂‍↕️

Their coffee is also delicious and the space itself is so aesthetic and chill. Great light and love all the different plants. It’s the perfect weather to grab a donut and coffee and chill in their outdoor seating with friends. About 20 mins from Shinjuku so def try these when you’re in Japan 🇯🇵

Check out this affordable sushi omakase and wine pairing course in Tokyo 🇯🇵

Sushi Suntos is located in the fashionable district of Omotesando. The area is known for being fashionable and a bit higher class, so it was a surprise to find such a quality omakase spot with amazing quality that didn’t break the bank 🤩

They served some things that were new for me, like swordfish, as well as some classics I expect as an omakase like tuna, unagi, and squid. They also served quite a few delicious small dishes. 21 courses total and 6 wines for the pairing. I’d definitely come back 🍣

Never thought I’d love a perfume making sesh in Japan 🎨

We came to ann fragrance in Omotesando today and it was so fun! I usually never wear fragrance, so I wasn’t sure if I would be interested or even like it, but I’m literally using the one I made here every day lol 🙂‍↕️

Going through all of the scents and talking about them with my friend was so interesting. If you get tired of smelling so many things at once, they have a bottle of coffee beans to sniff that kind of resets your nose. Make a res and definitely check it out when you’re in Tokyo 🇯🇵

Have you ever had pizza in Japan? 🍕

I’ve been wanting to come to SAVOY for so long after seeing it on social media. It’s pretty hyped up so I was expecting a lot. The Margherita was like a 7/10 for me. Good, but not outstanding. Something about all the spicy, fresh garlic on the Marinara really made all the other ingredients pop. Would go back just for that 🍅

We came on a Sunday around 1 pm and waited around 10 minutes. Lots of tourists and solo diners amongst the locals. They also have a tuna pizza that they only serve five of each day that I need to go back for sometime 🏃🏻‍♂️

Korean sunglasses just arrived in Japan 🇰🇷

Blue Elephant got super popular a while back cuz it was rumored their products were made in the same factories as Gentle Monster. I don’t think that’s true, BUT they do have some super cool styles for really good prices 💫

Everything looked to be between ¥6000-¥8000, or $40-$55. Quality isn’t amazing on every single item, but most of them feel great. Check it out at the end of Takeshita Street in Harajuku 😎

Got to go to Klook’s Kreatorverse 2025! 🇯🇵

Over 110 Kreators from around 13(?) countries gathered in Japan for a 7 day 6 night trip covering Tokyo, Osaka, and Hiroshima. Living in Japan, I was a bit bummed that it wouldn’t be an international destination for me, but we visited a ton of places I’d never been to before so I’m happy to say that it was a super fresh and fun trip for me 😬

I knew I’d be exhausted and social battery would be on negative by the end, but I also knew it’d be 1000% worth it. I got to meet so many cool people from all over the world, make new friends I’m already missing, and memories that’ll be with me forever. I’m not really someone to be influenced or inspired by other people very easily, but meeting so many kind, generous, and passionate people really left an impact on me that I’m still processing 💫

So grateful to Klook klooktravel klookkreator for having me for a second year in a row at Kreatorverse and to theycallmegenny and gerryberry__ for being the best group leaders evaaaa. I’ve got to experience so many great things because of the Kreator program that’s shaping so much of what I do as a content creator. One of my favorite experiences in Japan! 👨🏻‍🎨

You can book this on Klook and use the code BLAKETOKYO for a discount! Just search “Edo Kiriko Glass” or leave a comment and I can send you the link✨

My friend and I made our own Edo Kiriko glasses in Asakusa! I initially thought it might be really difficult, but the teacher gave an easy to understand explanation and we had some time to practice on model glasses before diving into our own. We were able to choose the shape, size, and color of our glasses before starting our designs 🎨

The whole experience lasts about 90 minutes. Highly recommend it! The end result makes a great souvenir from your Japan trip that you’ll actually use 🙂‍↕️

This is the best rice ball you’ll have in Japan fr 🍙

Every time I come to Kawagoe I WILL try and get this yakionigiri, aka grilled rice ball. They brush the exterior with soy sauce as it’s being grilled, which makes a sweet and salty crisp layer on the outside of the rice. Then it’s covered in fluffy bonito flakes, which adds to the flavor, and makes it super fun to eat 😋

Once they sell out, the shop closes, so def try and head there first on your trip to Kawagoe! 🏃🏻‍♂️

My most visited omakase sushi spot in Tokyo! 🍣

I’ve visited Ebisu Sushi Kenshin a few times now, cuz it’s just that good. There are always a few of my favs like fatty tuna, stacks of sweet shrimp called amaebi, and a bite of smoky unagi. There are seasonal menu variations, and the sushi chef here is also a sommelier, so I def recommend adding on the wine or wine and sake pairing to enhance your meal 🍷

The 20 course omakase costs ¥18,000, around $120, and the course plus wine pairing is ¥29,000, or around $195. Honestly a deal. Setting is chill, yet intimate. Both locals and tourists frequent this restaurant. Def worth a visit next time you’re in Japan 🇯🇵

This is my new favorite day trip away from the busy streets of Tokyo ☀️

Kawagoe is the perfect place to spend the afternoon. You can take in the charm of old Japan, have some tasty street food, and do some sightseeing and shopping. The vibe is so different from Tokyo. It’s definitely worth a visit 🚋

I went to explore Kawagoe with Maya and tomogo.official. TOMOGO! is a tour company that’s working to introduce lesser known parts of Japan to visitors. Had such a fun day and I’m so glad I got to learn about some new hidden gems. Highly recommend TOMOGO! if you’re looking for a tour in Japan 🇯🇵
