The pressure to 'succeed' after bariatric surgery is huge.

It can feel very heavy and feel like an extra weight on your back (and who wants THAT 🙅🏼).

So how do you move out of this place and find the lightness of confidence? Let's start with what confidence sounds like?

(a few words from my clients)

If you’ve noticed that some days after your bariatric surgery you can eat more than on other days… you’re not alone. And it’s completely normal.

Here are some factors that can impact appetite:
 💡 Time of the month
 💡 Your activity levels
💡 Eating less earlier in the day (or even the day before)

That’s why one of the most important skills you can develop on your WLS journey is listening to your hunger and fullness cues. A key habit to help you avoid overeating.

After having bariatric surgery it can be really hard to identify hunger and fullness cues. How I like to explain it is that after having your WLS your body can talk to you in different language (so you are having to learn this new language). Plus, your hunger and fullness cues can be a 'whisper' so you need to get better at mindfully checking in and listening.

📍 Your hunger and fullness cues are your internal guide, learning to identify and listen to them is key for WLS success.

Where are you in your bariatric journey? Can you identify your hunger and fullness cues yet? Share in the comments , I’d love to hear your experience. 💬

Let me say it again... diets do not work.

If they did you would not have needed bariatric surgery, right!

Diets are about restriction, following strict rules and not feeling satisfied. It is not possible to stay in the state of restriction forever, you can't, and when you leave this state you inevitably move into overeating.

Your bodies role is to keep you alive, and yes trying to avoid weight loss is a key part of that. So it drives you to over eat, to catch up.

This is the yo yo dieting cycle, restrict, overeat, feel scales go up, back to restrict. And the weight you gain is more than the weight you lose, so your weight gain continues.

I teach my clients how to leave this cycle, for good. To establish eating habits and food choices which leaves them satisfied, find balance and OPTIMISE intake to promote weight loss.

Feeling hungrier as time goes on after weight loss surgery can be so scary.

I get it.

I have heard this from so many people after their bariatric surgery, when they notice they can eat more in time & feel hungrier. And this is so scary because you can feel out of control, and don’t want to undo all of the hard work that you’ve done.

But guess what? It’s normal. We expect it, and you can learn how to manage your increased appetite.

There are several reasons why you can eat more over time after bariatric surgery:

➡️ There can be a natural relaxing of your tummy, or your pouch after your surgery, which means you can fit abit more in.

➡️ The metabolic changes as a result of your bariatric surgery, which helped to decrease your appetite/ increase feeling of satiety, are starting to wear off.

Plus, you may become more active and this can have an impact on your appetite.

So how do we manage your increased appetite and avoid weight regain? Well, there are several strategies and one is leveraging protein and fiber which are high satiety nutrients, with the key goal being to keep you physically satisied at a lower energy intake.

Are you struggling with an increased appetite? Is it feeling scary? Comment below. Let’s chat about.😊

Are you regretting having your weight loss surgery?

It is not uncommon in the those early days after surgery when you have gas and post surgery pain (the term buyers remorse feels very real). But what about when it lingers and hangs over you like a heavy cloud. Leaving you feeling stuck, unable to move forward & fully embrace your journey.

In Podcast Episode 87, I walk you through 4 steps to turn buyer’s remorse into feeling confidence:

1️⃣ Reconnect with your deepest “why” from having your surgery
2️⃣ Name exactly what’s causing your regret
3️⃣ Choose one small focus for a quick win
4️⃣ Search out & lean on the support around you

Why PDFs with nutrition information aren’t enough…

Navigating life after bariatric surgery can feel like piecing together a puzzle, with only half the pieces. Generic handouts and one-size-fits-all guides just don’t answer your real-time questions, or adapt as your needs change.

You deserve clear, compassionate guidance that meets you exactly where you are. Someone who listens, tailors advice, and walks beside you through every hurdle.

If you’re looking for support after your WLS, DM me and let’s talk about your bariatric journey.

If you keep doing the same thing, you’ll keep getting the same result. 🤝

Sometimes the most courageous step is reaching out for help, whether it’s a dietitian, primary care provider, therapist, or accountability buddy.

Support isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s the secret weapon of lasting change. The right coach can spot blind spots, offer fresh tools, and hold you accountable when overwhelm creeps back. You deserve that team in your corner.

Think of eating slowly as giving your body a chance to lean in and whisper, “I’ve had enough”. The next time you sit down, try pausing between bites: set your fork down, take a deep breath, and notice what your stomach and body are saying to you. With practice, you’ll find that meals become more enjoyable, and how much comfortable you feel after. 🌷

Want to dive deeper into why managing rapid eating is so important after weight-loss surgery? Comment “84” below and I’ll send you the link to Episode 84 of the Bariatric Nutrition Coach Podcast, “WLS Habits | Managing Rapid Eating.”

Do you find it hard to identify when you have eaten enough? 🤔

After weight loss surgery you have the tools of restriction and a lower appetite. It's great, and can come as a relief to not feel hungry all the time. In time things change, and you will have more appetite and will be able to eat more.

So what do we do?

The easy answer is listen to our body, and while easy to say, it is much hard to do. When you do you are likely find you will eat less food (volume) and feel better after eating. This is habit is crucial for long term weight loss surgery success.

Is this a struggle for you? If you would like to know more, DM me ME and I’ll share how I can help you 😁

When was the last time you stopped eating during a meal and checked in with your body?

After weight loss surgery, tuning in to those little whispers of hunger, satisfied and fullness can feel like learning a new language. But once you start hearing and honoring what your body tells you, you feel more in control, more satisfied, and less at the mercy of cravings.

In my latest podcast episode (Ep 83), I dive into why you get stuck in this loop and I have shared exactly how to reconnect with hunger and fullness cues through simple, kind habits.

I know how hard it can feel to squeeze in meals and snacks after weight-loss surgery, especially when life gets busy.

You’re not alone in this. I work with my clients build simple, realistic eating routines that fit their work, family, and food preferences, so they reach their protein goals WITHOUT feeling overwhelmed.

If you need support getting regularly AND reaching your protein goal, DM me and I will share how I can help you 😁.

No one tells you this about the post-op journey…⬇️

You think the surgery alone will do all the heavy lifting, and for a while, it can. But as the months pass, hunger returns, cravings sneak back, and it can feel like you’re going to go backwards.

To manage increased appetite it's not just WHAT you eat but also HOW you eat.

Some Weight Loss Surgery Foundations eating habits I teach:
✅Taking small bites & chewing well
✅Eating slowly & mindfully
✅Sticking to regular meal times
✅Tuning into hunger and fullness cues

These are the habits that maximise your weight loss and lock in your health gains for good.
If you’re ready to make every bite count, comment “BREAKTHROUGH” below and I’ll DM you a 60-second form (just tick the boxes) to get started. 💪

This is definitely one for the USA folks.

It is great when clients can access THEIR money and utilise their insurance to get the support they need in their bariatric journey.

So what's the process?
Step 1. Apply to work with me.

Step 2. We get to know each other a bit better to see if I am the right person for YOU 😉.

Step 3. If you feel I am, I send you an invoice (with all my registrations, fees etc on it) which you can submit to your insurance.

*all with no obligation to me.

What's the worst thing that could happen? You get a no 🤷🏼‍♂️.

For those who need to hear this after having bariatric surgery...

The bariatric journey isn’t just physical, it’s deeply emotional too.

And it’s not just the relationship with yourself that changes. Relationships with others can shift too. Because food is often connected to how we bond, celebrate, comfort, and connect. So it makes sense that, as your relationship with food changes, your relationships might feel different too.

This can be one of the more unexpected parts of the journey.

My goal in working with clients is to help you feel confident in your journey especially if there are people around you who aren’t as supportive as you’d hoped. That confidence helps you stay on your path, focus on your goals, and keep showing up for yourself.

Have you ever felt like saying this to someone in your life after surgery? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

No one really warns you about this part…

In the early days after WLS, hunger feels like it’s gone. Cravings? Barely there. You think, this is it. This is the tool that will keep me on track forever.

And then in time, your hunger returns. Cravings start creeping back in. And suddenly, it feels like you’re fighting the same battles all over again.

It can feel scary. Confusing. Your out of control. Like you’re doing something wrong.

But, this is normal. Your body is adjusting, and this is part of the process. The key now is knowing how to manage it so it doesn’t derail your progress.

Weight loss surgery isn’t a quick fix. It’s a tool. And like any tool, it only works if you put in the effort.

It can help you lose weight, but it won’t do the work for you. The real results come from the habits you build what you eat, how you move, how you show up for yourself every day.

So if you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself: Am I using my tool the way it was meant to be used?

What’s one habit that’s helped you the most after surgery? I’d love to hear. 2025-03-31 03:31:41 Weight loss.. 121 +381% 2 -35%
Weight loss after bariatric surgery is about finding your 'sweet spot', this is where you're getting adequate protein while being in calorie deficit and you LOSE WEIGHT.

When your body gets enough protein and is fed regularly, it feels safe to lose adipose tissue (aka fat), instead of holding onto it.

The goal is to give your body what it needs while keeping energy intake low enough for fat loss. This balance helps prevent muscle loss and supports long-term success.

If you're struggling to find the right balance, it may be time to assess your protein intake and overall eating habits.
