![A year ago today, I gave this little speech to a room of Fashion Editors and the TJ Maxx corporate team. There are some cringe moments as I was definitely nervous, but also I got some laughs, so that was good. In any case, I wanted to share it with all of you to remind you to say yes, even when you are afraid and even when you think you are not capable. I copy and pasted my caption from another post from last year below, just so you have context. I will also post the actual video of my showcase another time. Introducing “Styled By Runway” from tjmaxx with micaela as our Stylist mentor using all merchandise from the Runway at TJ Maxx.

From receiving an email in May to asking my level of interest in joining the “Styled By Runway” program, (I thought it was spam), to interviewing, to ultimately being chosen as 1 of 5 emerging stylists in June, to having to keep it a secret, to a kick off meeting in July and right into a tsunami of meetings, creation of concept, mood boards, display vision, one on one mentoring, shopping for the looks (aka living at TJ Maxx), creating social content, to the culmination of this all into a showcase presentation of our looks with our own display set of our theme, presented to esteemed editors on August 22 at a cocktail reception…phew, it has been a whirlwind of excitement, hard work, long hours and dedication.

There are not enough sufficient words to express my deep gratitude to the teams at tjmaxx and edelman, for choosing me and of course, to the brilliant micaela for believing in my work and for championing it so passionately. I feel humbled and honored for this opportunity. THANK YOU!

I wanted to share my thought process in creating this outfit. I love mixing genres and themes to create an unexpected and modern look as a general rule. I would call this look Rhinestone Cowgirl. When I had the idea to wear this sparkle slip dress, I decided to add the red boots with this dress as an unexpected piece plus a pop of color, the belt came next to have another element of western genre and then the red coat as a hero piece and to tie back to the boots. 🤓

Just to take my look up a notch, I threw on the big bow (which is a barrette) and wrapped it around a pearl necklace because I was struggling with pinning it. I also added a pop of color with my Kelly green cambridge_satchel , fun cowboy boots and yellow shades.

If this is too much for you, add any statement accessory to elevate your look a bit…could be hoop earrings, a fun necklace, a great belt. Adding accessories, just gives the outfit an extra finishing touch and is the difference between wearing your outfit and styling your outfit. 🤌🏼

This GRWM video is from Saturday, before heading to the all day menopause event, The New Pause Symposium. So many great take aways and learnings that I will share in another video. If I was asked that question, this would be my answer. For me, not everything I wear is new, so links in those instances would not make sense. Also, I share outfits, l as a form of art and expression and hopefully for inspiration for you.

And back to the Sasson jeans in this video, for those that are younger, this symbol 👌🏽was synonymous with the Sasson jean’s branding that were huge in popularity in the 70s/80s. So happy I found a pair while vintage shopping that fit like a glove and are in mint condition. 👌🏽

NYC EDITION 🍎

Itinerary was a walk to and from lower NYC to the Lower East Side on the most perfect weather day. From lunch samiandsusunyc to a stop at 2ndstreetusa LES, to matcha and beetroot lattes kaffelandskapnyc TriBeCa, to admiring the gorgeous blooms at our local deli, a nostalgia walk through Washington Market Park, before picking up groceries to make dinner for a chill night at home with the Klein Crew, it was a feel good, easy Saturday.

Oh and I disconnected from the news, social media and messages as much as possible and was really present in my thoughts and interactions. The combination of all of the above, gave me a calm and restorative feeling I have not felt for a long time. I am back at all the things today, but will try to create this kind of day for myself in the future when I need a break.
