- All my life people assumed I was American. And as someone who came here at 3 years old, did her pre-k, k-12 + bachelors and grad school education here, for all intents and purposes I was. Plus, I was born in Canada to a Caribbean-Canadian mom and an English dad. There were no language barriers, and very little cultural hurdles presented by being Canadian-British in America. 🇦🇬🇨🇦🇬🇧 There was just one thing, as a green card holder I couldn’t vote. I always told myself by the time my green card was up for renewal again, I would apply for my citizenship instead. The issues in this country effecting women, Black people, mothers (and more) matter deeply to me and I want to be able to vote for progress and change. And so, I did. In August 2024 with the election looming, I applied. The process takes some time, and in March of 2025 I officially became a US citizen. It’s been a crazy political year, and I didn’t feel “inspired” to share my immigrant story for most of it. 😢 Then, I saw fashncurious post about her journey and also getting her citizenship after 31 years of being in this country. Maybe it was the fact that we had both been here for 31 years, or the honesty with which she shared her motivation for getting hers but it inspired me to share mine too. This year feels like a year of growth and change for me. I’m doing things I’ve been thinking of doing for years, including this! ❤️🇺🇸 #feelinginspired #progress #growth #hope #change
- Our Love Story. 15 Years in the Making. ❤️ This is the #1 question I get when I meet someone new who learns we waited over 13 years to get married. And I never mind sharing our answer! I hope OUR story resonates with someone out there who is feeling like things aren’t happening in the timeline they feel like it “should”. I promise, the timing will end up being PERFECT for you. #lovestory #younglove #justmarrıed #ourjourney #rightontime #latebloomer #marriedafter30
- Shore Things 🌊 They call it “Blue Hour” and wow it’s my favorite time at the Jersey shore for a walk along the ocean. It’s the time right after golden hour but before it gets dark. There’s something so magical and romantic about it. 💙
