I just had a reporter say something really strange to me — that I don’t care about humans. Because I rescue animals. This post will show you why that accusation makes no sense. This is what a mother dog and her puppies went through. She had acid thrown into her mouth. She was dragged behind a motorbike. And then dumped in a garbage heap — with her babies next to her, as if they were trash too. This isn’t rare. This is what I see every single day. And we wonder why terrible things happen to children… to women… But we don’t talk about how violence becomes normal. When you teach people — even kids — that it’s okay to harm the most helpless beings, what kind of society do you expect to grow from that? The same kids who once threw stones are now watching me rescue this dog. And suddenly, they’re quiet. They’re helping. They’re realizing she matters. That they matter too. Just because animals live on the street doesn’t mean they’re worthless. They feel pain. They feel fear. And they never fight back — because they can’t. Animals are like babies. Defenseless. And if you think compassion for animals means ignoring humans, you’ve completely missed the point. This work is about empathy at its root. It’s about stopping violence before it starts. 🐐💩 Pee, poop & a three-legged goat 🐾 Meet Pippy, our tiny warrior with three legs and a big appetite. Her surgery is done, her leg has healed, and she’s just getting some fresh air with me in the open before heading back to her cozy recovery space. While I try to feed her, Mr. P keeps attempting a sneak pee attack, very committed to his mission. Honestly, this is why I only own 3 pairs of clothes. Rescue life = sweat, pee, poop, and unconditional love. Right now our quarantine rooms are still small, built with whatever I had. I’ve just stepped out with Pippy for some air and a snack. We’re so close to moving into our new space, with big, breezy quarantine rooms and no fly dances. Can’t wait. P.S. Prosthetics are rarely needed for goats, they’re naturally agile, and Pippy’s already figuring out how to balance and jump in her own scrappy, determined way. A dog is a dog is a dog. 🐾 I’ve never understood why some dogs are seen as “better” than others — based on how they look, where they live, or whether they have a home. A Labrador, a Husky, a Retriever… and our beautiful, soulful Pakistani dogs — they’re all the same to me. 💛 Yet in Pakistan, stray dogs are constantly seen as less than. I’m often approached by media asking about them, and time after time, the conversation is shaped by fear — not facts, not empathy, not experience. It’s disheartening. Because the truth is: stray dogs are some of the most loving, loyal, and gentle souls I’ve ever met. They’re not aggressive — they’re just trying to survive in a world that has given them nothing but reasons to be afraid. And being afraid is not a crime. Just because they don’t have a home doesn’t mean they don’t deserve kindness, safety, or respect. If anything, it means they deserve more love — not less. This might sound controversial, but I’ve always been quietly disturbed by one question I get far too often — “What’s in it for us?” When it comes to helping animals, or doing anything good, must there always be something “in it” for us? Why can’t the act of doing good be the reward in itself? I don’t do this work for recognition, applause, or some return on investment. I do it because it’s right. Because the lives we save matter. Because the world needs more good, not more gain. And the more good we put out there, the more good there will be. It ripples — whether or not we see the end of it. These stares I’m getting in this video — it’s what I get from all of Pakistan 🇵🇰 It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor… most people still believe stray animals have no worth 💔 I’ve been asked more times than I can count: “Why are you doing this?” “Are you sure it’s worth it?” I’d love for them to ask the same question if it was them lying helpless on the street… and no one was coming to help. The donkeys migrate from our old shelter to their new forever home 🤍🥹🙏🏼 Our rescue team has been working around the clock, saving animals while building the donkey enclosure. Very multifaceted team 💪🏼 Donkeys are treated as transport vehicles and not seen as living beings in Pakistan 💔 so when they come to our place after being rescued, battered and bruised, we want to give them the best life and I was finally able to buy them a forever home and the moment they get there they’re absolutely love it 🥹🌟 Please support our work because the donkeys are the first round of Animals to move in! Wow, all the way back in 2017 🤯 Surprise surprise, I also wanted to be an actress when I was a kid 🥰 But I love animals more. The need to make a difference was choking me until I could not breathe. I tried my hand at so many different things to see if anything else gave me as much joy but ultimately, the only thing that gives me true fulfilment and contentment was the difference I was making through my work. For me, a framework that is based on absolute peace and fulfilment is what I consider success. That framework is so much harder to build than one that is based on money or fame or material things. ACF turns 11 years old today 🎉🎂🙏🏼♥️ There was no plan when we started. We just started out of a restlessness to help. There was no social media except Facebook. There was no concept of a video going viral like in today’s instagram/Tik Tok world. In fact there was literally no one talking about animals. We have made it this far due to consistency, focus, dedication, hard work and a fantastic team. But more so we have made it here, because we have retained our innocence and we have never got caught up in the rat race of the world. The hardest thing in this world is to protect your innocence and you have to become ridiculously strong in order to protect it. That is what ACF symbolises. Innocence. I know it’s a cliched song but it’s cliched for a reason. Because it’s all too common. It is very hard for me to comprehend, living in the same time zone when there is so much suffering around me happening at the same time. When I am laughing, Someone is crying. When my stomach is full, someone‘s is growling. When I am drinking cold cold water, someone’s throat is so scratchy that it hurts to swallow. When I am comfortable in bed, someone’s back is hurting on the ground. When I am feeling so healthy exercising at the gym, someone is burning with fever in the hot sun. This Someone can be an animal or a human. And I know the standard line, ‘it’s not in our control ayesha. We can’t help everyone. You just need to learn to switch off. We have to live our own life. Self-care and all that mumbo-jumbo.’ Inside, I am rolling my eyes. I just find that so selfish and it’s SO easy. Do you know what’s really hard? Actually giving a shit while physically doing something about it. I find it so appalling when people ask where I find my passion from. Again, I am rolling my eyes on the inside thinking ‘ummm are you blind or so caught up in your game of greed and money and keeping up with the Jones’ that you’ve just become stupidly lazy?’ But now I’m not going to roll my eyes inside.
