I’ve never seen a hiking retreat as exclusive as this one at senseiporcupinecreek 😍 #ad

The retreat offers a little bit of everything: accommodations in a private 230-acre estate, guided hikes through California’s most awe-inspiring terrain, restorative spa treatments, dining at the only private Nobu in the world, and so much more.

It’s happening on November 1–5, 2025 and spaces are limited! Who are you bringing with you?

This California restaurant was named one of the Top 20 Most Romantic Restaurants in the World! 😍

📍 Shadowbrook Restaurant shadowbrook_restaurant
🗺️ 1750 Wharf Rd, Capitola, CA 95010

Shadowbrook is actually older than the city of Capitola it’s in! To reach the restaurant, you ride a hillside cable car, or take the stairs through a beautiful garden path. Inside, you’ll find seven unique dining rooms, each with its own charm. One even has a giant cypress tree growing through it. And yes, the food is amazing too!

The only public swim-through cave in California, and it’s not a sea cave but actually a limestone cavern!

📍 Natural Bridges (Coyote Creek Cave) in Calaveras County
🗺️ Parrotts Ferry Rd, Vallecito, CA 95251

🚙 Distance from:
Sacramento – 95 miles / ~2 h drive
San Francisco – 135 miles / ~2.5–3 h
San Jose – 125 miles / ~2.5 h
Fresno – 120 miles / ~2.5 h
Los Angeles – 340 miles / ~6 h

🪨 The cave is made of marble that started as limestone on the ocean floor over 250 million years ago.

🌊 Coyote Creek slowly carved the tunnel, and now you can swim or float through from one side to the other.

💧 The walls are covered with flowstone that looks like melted rock. You can see stalactites hanging down and small stalagmites growing up from dripping water.

🏊 The tunnel is about 250 ft long and water is cold most of the time. It’s quite pleasant right now though.

🥾 The trail is about 2 miles round trip.

💡 Bring water shoes, swimsuit and a floatie for more fun. Note that it gets busy on weekends.

🎥 Clip of me by journeywithlina & she’s in the third frame

Other amazing caves to visit in the area: Mercer Caverns, Moaning Cavern, California Cavern, Black Chasm Cavern. These all have guided tours and require reservations, while Natural Bridges doesn’t.

The most alien-looking landscape in California 👽 I’m so happy I finally checked it out! It was still closed because of the snow in June when I came last time so I had to come back in August again 😄

📍 Bumpass Hell Trail, Lassen Volcanic National Park
🥾 3 miles round trip, moderate
⏰ Trail is open seasonally, usually July–October (can you believe there’s still lots of snow there in June?!)
🌸 The trail leading here is full of lupines right now! (End of August)
🚙 Parking gets packed by midday, however I was there just by myself at 7am.

Bumpass Hell Trail takes you to the largest hydrothermal field in the state. A boardwalk lets you safely walk past boiling springs, steaming vents, and bubbling mud pots. Big Boiler fumarole here reaches over 300°F, making it one of the hottest fumaroles in the world 🌡️

This is one of the best hikes in California if you want to see volcanic power up close without leaving the trail.

Have you been to Lassen yet?

The other amazing spots ant trails to see there:
Easy or no hiking: Lassen Scenic Drive, Emerald Lake, Lake Helen, Sulphur Works (an alternative if you cannot go to Bumpass Hell Trail) Manzanita Lake.
Other amazing trails:
Kings Creek Falls Trail, Cinder Cone Trail, Lassen Peak Trail

Please always remember to leave no trace: explore responsibly, pick up all waste, don’t disturb nature and be considerate of others 💚

Crater Lake 1‑day itinerary for 2025 (while lake access is still open) 💙

✈️ Fly into Medford Airport (Direct flights from Los Angeles or San Francisco).

Check out these spots. If you have only one day pick 1 option from each point. If you have 2 days or more, you can do them all:

📍 Discovery Point
If you’re up for a beautiful walk, take the 2‑mile Discovery Point Trail. Or use the many pullouts here, all with great views and no hiking, including Discovery Point Lookout.

📍 Cleetwood Cove Trail
Open in 2025. It’s the only trail to the water, you can swim or take a boat tour from the dock. Starting in 2026, the trail and marina area will close for a multi‑year rehabilitation. No public boat tours are planned for summers 2026–2028; the goal is to reopen in 2029.

📍 Watchman Peak
No hiking option: stop at the overlook to enjoy the views. It has a bathroom too!
If you want a rewarding summit in under an hour, climb a bit steep but short Watchman Peak Trail (0.8 mi, ~420 ft elevation gain). At the top, there’s a historic stone lookout and amazing 360° views of Wizard Island, Crater Lake, and the surrounding Cascades.

📍 Rim Drive
An absolutely scenic drive with lots of beautiful pullouts. As of August 2025, you can drive almost the full loop but some areas already closed for reconstruction. East Rim Drive is closed between Reflection Point and Sun Notch for road work. Cloudcap Overlook is closed, and Pinnacles Road is walk/bike only during construction.

📍 Stay at Crater Lake Lodge
The lodge is open from late May to mid-October and is located right on the rim with gorgeous lake views. It gets sold out up months in advance so book it as early as you can. There’s also a restaurant and lounge where you can eat with a view of the rim. Dinners require advanced reservations (weeks in advance).

Which view would you want to see first?

You must do this if you’re ever in Norway! 🥹😍

This is a Bird Safari boat tour in Gjesvær, about 40 min from Honningsvåg, a small Arctic town located at the northern tip of mainland Europe.

We did it on our cruise stop 4 in Honningsvåg, Norway 💙 (This is a part of the series about what we did on each stop of our celebritycruises 12 Nights Norwegian Fjords & Arctic Circle Cruise. Check out my previous posts and the “🇳🇴 Cruise” story highlight for more.)

🛥️ The bird safari tour takes about 2.5–3 hours and runs from late May through August.
🦅 We saw puffins, white-tailed eagles, razorbills, guillemots, lots of other birds and cute seals! Puffins are my favorite 🥹
📷 I used a 500mm lens to film most of these scenes, but 5x phone zoom works great too.
💨 Dress warm! It’s windy and very cold even in summer. I wore layers, a puffer jacket, a hat, but even that wasn’t enough so I ended up putting the expedition costume on that they provided on board.
🎟️ Tickets are around $300 per person depending on the month and how much in advance you book. It’s not cheap so definitely utilize your cruise discounts for it!

Would you do this kind of tour?

Stay tuned for the details about all the other stops! I’m almost done sorting all the footage so you can plan your 2026 Norway cruise 😊

Came all the way here for just one day to swim before the trail down to the water closes 🥹 Crater Lake National Park really feels like a dream! Info ⬇️

📍 Cleetwood Cove Trail is the only legal trail that reaches the shoreline of Crater Lake. It’s 2.2 miles round-trip with about 700 ft elevation and is open each season until late October.

🚫 Beginning in 2026, both the trail and marina will close for a long reconstruction project, with reopening not expected until 2029.

For now, you can still swim in the lake and join boat tours (including Wizard Island trips) from the Cleetwood Cove dock.

⚠️ During the closure there will be no swimming, no boat tours, and no shoreline access.

You will, however, still be able to enjoy Crater Lake from above. Most part of the 33-mile Rim Drive stays open with lots of scenic overlooks.

Would you take the chance to swim here and hop on the boat tour before it all shuts down? 💙

My newest find! Isn’t it straight out of a fairytale?? 😍

It’s definitely my type of a stay and I absolutely loved it. However there are some things to know, so here’s my full review:

📍 It’s located in Half Moon Bay and is available on most platforms! I found it on Hipcamp using the “Unique Stays” filter. You can also book it on Airbnb or bookingcom. Basically if you just search in google “Half Moon Bay treehouse” you will see it on top of the results!

🏡 There are two buildings, one on the ground with the kitchen and bathroom, and the treehouse itself.

🚽 Yep, no bathroom or sink in the treehouse itself!

🛏️ It has 1 queen bed and 3 single beds, and fits up to 5 people. The queen bed is in the treehouse itself. The single beds are spread out around the both buildings. I am actually not sure which exactly couches are counted as beds (you can see at least one on my video).

💡The treehouse has a nice quiet heater so I felt warm during the cold night.

🛁 There’s an outdoor bathtub and shower (you can see it on the video too), but no indoor shower.

🧑‍🍳 There’s a small kitchen downstairs where you can cook pretty much anything! The outdoor table is big and cozy (the last slide).

I didn’t find outlets near the bed but there’s one at the couch and a couple downstairs (you can only use the downstairs one for devices like a hair dryer).

There’s a cute desk with books in the treehouse. It definitely adds to a fairytale vibe!

🪟There are a lot of windows but no curtains so bring a sleep mask if you’re sensitive to light.

🌳 The place is very remote and serene, you won’t see any neighbors so you can just enjoy it all to yourself.

The area around is stunning, Half Moon Bay is definitely worth exploring. Check my post from a couple days ago for a unique mystical forest there.

Do you prefer a clear or cloudy day? 🩵

All these shots are taken from East Peak, I came back twice to the same spot to compare the views. It’s just about half a mile walk to this gorgeousness.

Mystical forest along California coast 🩶

📍 James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Moss Beach (near Half Moon Bay). It has a dramatic cypress grove, tide pools, and protected marine life. You can watch seals from above, and at low tide you can see sea stars, anemones, crabs, and other creatures.

ℹ️ Park info
Trails there are mostly flat and easy:
* Fitzgerald Short Trail – 0.2 mi
* Bluff/Dardanelle Loop (Cypress Grove Trail) – 0.8 mi
* Beach & Tidepools – ~1.5 mi (low tide)
* West Shoreline–Pillar Point Bluff – ~2.5 mi RT
* Pillar Point Bluff–Reserve – ~4.5 mi RT

The Cypress Tree Tunnel is one of the most picturesque spots, and actually has its own pin on Google, so it’s easy to find it.

The best is to come on a foggy cloudy day for the mystical vibes.
