Meet Cinthya cinthyapenao - another of my favorite clients and MOVEs Athlete of the Month in the #nutrition space 🤩 

A hard charging MD and endurance athlete, and shall we say, worried about higher carb intake & gaining fat……

Not only did we increase her carb intake, we increased her overall intake. By we, I mean her and I. I don’t make changes without full understanding and agreement! 

Guess what happened……

Her training improved nicely. She got stronger, faster, recovered much better, GAINED LEAN MASS and LOST FAT MASS.

She also crushed her triathlon, coming 2nd in her age category and setting a new PR.

DRE! Proud of you my friend! I had the opportunity to work with Andrea for several months - and really turn a few things around 

Her thyroid was acting up again, elevated antibodies showing up in labs (along with elevated TSH levels). She was running into frustration with training, fatigue, body comp, and weaving it all together. 

So, we got to work!! 

She accomplished a lot, settling down her #thyroid - leaning out (not easy for an already lean, hard charging athlete) - and feeling great again.

Many of you still think you’ve gotta “wait” for the right time to start getting things lined up. 

I know that you know ➖ that time won’t arrive. 

Just 6 weeks ago, I began working with this powerhouse lady. She was overtrained, underfed, and in pain. 3 weeks in, her family got hit with 💩 and lots of it. 

She had every opportunity to fall apart. She didn’t. 

She kept going and is keeping going. With BASICS. With wax on wax off. 

Your basics will hold things together when chaos hits. I promise.

Practitioners - please stop telling your patients that their adrenals are shot or fatigued or god forbid you use the term “out” ➖ like, OH SHIT, where’d they go?!! 🤣🤣 

As you can see here, this client of mine has fairly normal total cortisol levels ➖ but free cortisol makes up only around 1% of the overall cortisol produced. 

Her cortisol METABOLITES (sum of metabolites) are very low, which is a good indication of total cortisol output from the adrenal glands. 

To make a long story short, our (meaning my and her MD) tactic is to support boosting up her cortisol production which should reduce one of her symptoms of fatigue and recovery challenges. 

I straddle the line between “test, don’t guess” and being an essentialist minimalist when it comes to testing. 

Definitely support adrenal health but know what you’re dealing with prior!!

Lots of you train pulling. Few add in #hanging work and you’ve got to. Notice the false grip ➖ important for all ring work.

Hanging is crucial for the spine, lats, shoulders and wrists ➖ it also feels 😋

One critical piece of The MOVE Methods 😉 is continual training of the basics - like these.
