Who doesn't love visiting the zoo. We are lucky enough to live near an especially good one, the oaklandzoo ! The giraffes are my favorite, but there are a great collection of monkeys, some cute wallabies you can only see if you ride the train, and of course you can ride the beautiful sky gondola up to the California trail. Make plans to go to the Boo at the Zoo costume contest is Oct 24 - 26. This event is really popular so make sure to reserve your tickets early then bring your littles in their costumes (no inflatables please, they scare the animals). Travel with school aged kids is all about empowering independence and beating the boredom. 🧳. This age groups need items that are sized for them so they can take through the airport and public transit themselves. They are old enough to pack their own entertainment bag. I would have mine pack activity books, coloring books, reading books, and of course their own electronics. Traveling with littles requires a whole different kind of packing list! 👶✈️ I'm sharing some of the baby and toddler essentials that made traveling with them so much easier. 🌟A magic diaper bag that holds all you need, but can be attached to the stroller was clutch. I loved all the skiphop products when I had littles, my sister loved having a backpack with lots of pockets. Whatever you use, you want to make sure to have a bag with the essentials right on hand. 🌟We had a sound machine in this sheep from cloudb that we used with my daughter. We used it so much my daughter became attached to the animal and we took out the sound machine. 🌟My oldest was attached to the stroller and a travel stroller was a non-negotiable for us. I loved the uppababy travel strollers. They are now much smaller and lighter making it no excuse to bring one. 🌟A baby carrier allowed us to get out where strollers weren't as friendly. It helped when tiny legs got tired or when you wanted to keep toddlers from strolling into places they shouldn't (like geysers in Yellowstone). I swore by every ergobaby carrier I used. These items are worth the luggage space! While the big panels are cool, the real joy of comic_con is discovery! My oldest and I skipped the massive lines for big panels and instead concentrated on seeing smaller and more interesting discussions. We got to hear from and meet molly_ostertag and gingerhazing . We got to learn how to draw characters from phinesandferb by the artist who created them. But the real fun was exploring all that was available on the expo floor. From the large marvel booth to the smaller creators in artist alley. It was a cherished memory and proof that sometimes the niche can be just as rewarding. Find out how we did.
