Delighted to have Career After Family Enterprise join us as the Community Partner for the video content series.

Career After Family (CAFE) is a community of aspiring women entrepreneurs. CAFE helps its members to learn new skills, build connections and grow in confidence. #TravelDiaries #LifeOfAWriter #WhyIWrite

So, I have been receiving loads of messages and enquiries on my recent travel destination. The suspense was created inadvertently due to low network in the resort 😂 We went to Jungle Lodges Blackbuck Resort in Bidar, Karnataka. We had been there earlier this year in March and our daughter loved the place so much that she had been insisting on visiting it once again. It's interesting that we had a very different experience this time because the season was different, the room type was different and we also explored new paths and areas around.

I will, of course, be sharing more of my travel stories but for now I wanted to highlight a couple of incidents which happened there that made me extremely satisfied as a blogger.

1. I had blogged about my travel experience in March on my website anupamadalmia.com. When I spoke to the reception desk, they shared how they have benefited due to my blog in terms of overall footfall as well as an increase in 2-night stay bookings as compared to before (I had recommended 2-night stay in my blog as opposed to the common 1-night stay at this resort).

2. On Day 1 of our visit, we were heading towards our room after lunch, when a gentleman came and spoke to me. He asked me whether I am a blogger and an ex-infoscion. I was surprised but when I confirmed my identity, he shared that he is an infoscion and had planned his visit to the resort with his family after reading my review on my blog. He then also went on to read about all the other work that I am doing and complimented me on my journey. It was such a coincidence that he happened to meet me there itself.

Awards and accolades aside, aren't these experiences and connections gold for any writer? I am truly touched and overwhelmed.

P.S: This picture is one of my favourite shots from the trip from when we were exploring the jungle terrains early in the morning.

Below is the link to my resort review from March for those who may want to read it.

This is what I have been waking up to for the past 3 days 😍 Romancing with nature is the best kind of romance. Isn't it?

Every vacation, I leave a piece of me behind and find a new piece of me to take away.

Sharing another flash fiction written by me a couple of years ago.

This one was also a winning story on womensweb

I remember during that phase I loved writing these micro fiction tales. Now, because there are so many more things I do, I don't get time to pen these. Most of the writing I do now is either for my book projects or commissioned posts.

Would you like to read more micro-fiction from me?

Last year onwards, my work took turns such that I got several opportunities to interact with women entrepreneurs from various industries. They are all passionate, visionaries and are brimming with ideas, and it gives me immense joy to associate with them in one way or the other.

One such woman entrepreneur whose work I absolutely love is Minali Agarwal - Founder of a fantastic brand called pepplay

Some of you might already be aware of the brand and her offerings, but for the uninitiated, PepPlay is a one-stop online shop for unique, eco-friendly, educational and creative toys for kids of all ages.

You MUST check out their product range - trust me you will want to grab it all for your children. We received 4 of their products to explore and my daughter has become an ardent fan of PepPlay ever since.

Her favourites are the velvet coloring cards and the step-by-step drawing book (you can see them in the picture). The latter, especially, helped her a lot to work on her drawing skills during the pandemic when she couldn't physically meet her art teacher. The activity planner is another extremely useful product which can be used by older and younger kids to creatively plan and track their week. The colouring mat is a super fun option for kids to indulge in to make meal times interesting or to simply enjoy unbound artistic expression.

What I love the most about PepPlay products is their high quality and the thoughtfulness behind each of them. These are also an excellent choice for gifting.

Today the brand completes a year and I wish PepPlay many, many more milestones! Congratulations Minali and team 👏👏

A lot of people know that I had resigned from my corporate job to pursue my passions. But not many are aware that in December 2012, the Nirbhaya incident shook me so much that it became one of the reasons why I decided to do something on the ground in the social space. This pushed me to join an NGO as a volunteer and help in the rehabilitation of human trafficking survivors. That experience changed me immensely as a person. I almost felt as if I grew up all of a sudden, realising my privileges and understanding that when we do something for others, we are actually doing bare minimum of what it means to be a human. During that period, I also underwent some trainings and learnt a lot about empowerment and how one can support someone in distress.

Later, after my blogs started becoming popular, it so happened that several of my readers, largely women, started reaching out to me to share their problems and find a friendly support. What started informally began to grow into something more substantial and meaningful. That's when I decided to launch my own non-profit 'Building Bridges Foundation' last year. We have been constantly working towards uplifting women through upskilling sessions on various topics like personal financial management, entrepreneurship, physical and mental health, and lots more.

The strength of this foundation is the connection and relationship we have built with every woman who has trusted us to be their safe space. And today, I am extremely happy that we have touched the milestone of 250+. This means that we have been able to touch the lives of 250+ women and have played a small role in bettering the quality of their lives. This may seem like a small number to some, but it means the world to me. Because 250+ women have enriched me in ways that I cannot even explain and I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of their journeys.

I am a night owl and my energy levels keep on increasing through the day, and hit their peak at night 😅 That is when my efficiency is maximum, and most of my writing work and creative ideas take shape.

Sharing my flash fiction which I had penned in the past! This one is special because it was chosen among the Top 5 100-word-stories of the year 2018 on Momspresso out of thousands of stories submitted on the platform that year.

Title: The Mirage

There was an irrefutable magnetism surrounding Sahana. With an alluring persona and a boisterous demeanor, she was the centre of attraction at her workplace. She was a free bird who lived alone on her own terms and often ended up sloshed during her weekly midnight parties at the most happening pubs in town. Reya, her colleague, used to envy her carefree lifestyle and many a time wished they could switch places.

With quivering fingers, a dewy-eyed Reya held the thin sheet of paper. The mask was off. It was Sahana's suicide note which read - 2021-08-19 23:24:42 Sharing my flash fi.. 148 +75% 27 +55%
I often have many friends tell me that they have rarely seen me in sarees. Those who know me well, they are aware that I am a goofball when it comes to carrying a saree and I also am not used to it so for the sake of comfort, I avoid wearing it. Personally, I feel it's a gorgeous outfit and looks great on one and all. But, it's not something that comes naturally to me.

We don't have to pull down another woman to praise one.

Stop 'using' our brilliant sportswomen to propagate 'your' ideas of women empowerment.

Enough of this real/unreal empowerment posts that have been floating around for the last few days.

Empowerment does not come from a profession. An actor/model can be as much a role model as a woman in uniform. It's about agency. It's about liberation. It's about the fight. It's about ownership and responsibilities.

I agree that someone's journey may have more struggles than another person. But to appreciate and get inspired, we do not need to disrespect or look down upon anyone. Heck we would not even know the entire story of someone's life anyway!

Women empowerment is a huge umbrella with various layers. There is no 'one' face for it.

Am I the only one ? 😆😂🙈

My 6-year-old makes an appearance in this one 🙂

While this reel is done in humour, I also wanted to make a point that Moms don't always have to sacrifice everything. Yes, we do a lot of things out of love, but it's also absolutely ok to eye that last piece of cake or desire the left over chocolate.

We are like any other human with our needs and wants. I always despised it when my MIL or Mom kept the best rotis for family. I don't let them do that anymore. They deserve better. All of us deserve better.
