- German playgrounds are built with a philosophy that encourages children to learn how to manage risks. It’s believed that if kids improve their motor skills on the playground early on, they will suffer fewer accidents when they get older. Parents always seem divided on that one… but I feel like it’s not just playgrounds in Germany these days, but more of US vs Europe thing. I see risky playgrounds popping up in France, Poland, Netherlands, Sweden or Czechia, while US ones are all secure with ramps and safe slow slides. I honestly love it… and while it can be stressful at first, in the long term it’s more relaxing for the parent too knowing that you don’t need to freak out that your child will not know how to assess the risk, return when lost and so on… 🤷♀️ P.S. For those heading to Europa Park, the spiral slide is something else. Dylan said it was painful, Matt said he tried and never wants to do it again 🤣🤭
