![There are over 9 million abandoned houses across Japan and rising. Even in the wealthy neighborhood of Setagaya in Tokyo, you can find tons of abandoned houses. The ones show in this video were luxury homes built in 1966 for the Tokyo Olympics. By the early 1990s when the Japanese economic bubble burst, they were abandoned and no one ever tore them down.

I’ve only lived in Tokyo and have spent most of my time living in Shibuya, Ueno, and Ikebukuro. I’ve had photos taken up my skirt in public and been flashed by strange men in the streets several times. My biggest mistake was not reporting any of it. If this ever happens to you, report it immediately. The Japanese police take these incidents very seriously. And if you want to live in Japan as a foreign female, you may feel safer outside of the big cities.
