First time hosting the red carpet at the South Asian Film Festival and I still feel like I’m waking up from a dream 🪬 💭 It was my first time being around so many filmmakers, actors, actresses, and getting to see how the independent film process unfolds. After having conversations both on and off camera, I’m so inspired by the grit, the passion, and the collaboration (not to mention the blood, sweat, and tears) that go into making a film. I’m in awe of everyone I met ♥️ One thing held true across all the filmmakers I interviewed: they were inspired by their own stories and wanted to create art with impact - art that starts conversations and drives change I love the dreamers

I love the people who wake up and choose to make a change - those who use what’s in their hearts and their histories to stir dialogue I hope this isn’t my last time among so many passionate storytellers. Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher. After experiencing the perils of learning math from my Indian father, I leaned on my teachers as mentors - so much so that I was the kid that would go into 7 AM office hours just to hang out with my calculus teacher because we became besties 😂 (and we still keep in touch on Facebook 🤞🏽) I continued to toy with the idea of going the academia route in college to becoming a professor. The teachers that stayed in my mind and heart were the ones who inspired me, and I knew in this lifetime I wanted to do the same 🧿 When I met with my Dean at my university to ask for his advice, he said one thing I can do is get industry experience and then teach on the side.
