Happy 38th birthday to Brandon!!! Phew, what a year!!! Brandon is the most humble, stable, and supportive dad and hubby we could ever ask for. If you have ADD - listen up! This iPhone setting makes your screen instantly less addictive… and it’s hidden in plain sight. Set your phone to GRAY all day! PS I also set my phone to red at night with a triple click and have these in my focus settings as well. 

Grayscale is a great “phone taming” trick. It dulls all the dopamine-triggering colors so apps and notifications look boring.

You can set it up almost the same way as your red tint, then use the triple-click shortcut to flip between them:

To set grayscale:
	1.	Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Color Filters.
	2.	Toggle Color Filters on.
	3.	Select Grayscale (top option).

To make it work with triple-click:
	Go to Settings → Accessibility → Accessibility Shortcut.

Ever since I started my personal training business freshman year of college I’ve been working with women in perimenopause. 

I would hear the same story over and over. “What worked for me in my 20s (eat less and exercising more) no longer works in my late 30s-50s (and beyond).” Or “I gained 20 lbs shortly after I turned 40.” And “I’m limiting my calories and working out but the scale won’t budge. 3 lies about cortisol that you probably fell for! (And PS - it’s not your fault - there is SO much confusion, mis-information, and fear mongering on social media!)

1️⃣ “Cortisol is bad.”
Nope. Cortisol is essential—you just don’t want it elevated all day every day which can lead to a crash. It’s not about eliminating cortisol… it’s about balancing and managing it.

2️⃣ “Stress is the only thing that spikes cortisol.”
Think again. Overtraining cardio or HIIT, under-eating carbs, and even poor sleep can trigger cortisol, too.

3️⃣ “Just do more cardio to lose the belly fat.”
Wrong again. Excess cardio can actually raise cortisol and make it harder to lose fat—especially around the midsection.

I’m almost two weeks into my first-ever MOLD detox and, PHEW! What a journey it’s been so far! 😅 I’m going to do a podcast about this soon. Swipe to see the mold die off symptoms. I just got through what I’m calling the “mold detox uglies”. This is not an official term 😝 but it’s what I’m calling the breakouts I had on my forehead and face. I literally NEVER ever break out. It was so crazy. The first few days I also had a heavy head/headache.

I decided to stay in Costa Rica this week to continue the detox because once I get back to FL I’ll be dealing with my mold allergies. 🤧 And I usually get sick within 4-5 days of being back in FL. 😭😥 It’s a huge problem and I’m trying to determine how to solve it. When I’m exposed to FL mold I’m tired, runny nose, always fighting illness, sleep terribly … all the “fun” stuff. We shall see if this detox helps after a few months if I simultaneously limit exposure. When I’m in Costa Rica I feel AMAZING. Which is the main reason I bought a home here. But my company AND kid’s school are in FL. So we shall see what the future holds as I navigate. 🙏🏻

4 habits as a mom of FIVE ⬇️ 

1) intermittent fasting … I’ve fasted daily for 10 years. Most of my clients do 16:8, but I can guide you in what’s best for you based on goals and hormones.

2) carb cycling. I eat sooooooooo much ladies. Like way way way more than you would think (I’m 5’2” and eat well over 2,000 cals per day. Close to 2,500 most days). Plus I eat CARBS and only limit them 2x per week.

3) strength training 3x per week and hiit 1 or 2x per week depending on my schedule. 30 mins or less in and out. 

4) gluten free and dairy free meal plan. My meal plans are delicious and anti-inflammatory.
