![My 1st Wonder of the World ticked off! ✅😭🥹🫶

The Colosseum is genuinely bigger than I thought it would be, I don’t know why I expected any less! 😂🏟️
.
I also knew pretty much nothing about the Colosseum before coming to Rome, but here are some of the most interesting facts I learnt:
• The outside used to be bright white
• Marble from inside the Colosseum was repurposed all over Rome - a lot in St Peter Basilica
• The “underground” part of the Colosseum wasn’t really underground, it just looks that way now because the wooden arena floor collapsed over time (They’ve rebuilt a small section so you can picture what it was like)
• The holes around the outside used to be iron clamps holding the stone blocks together - looted in renaissance period
• Bandits and criminals squatted in the Colosseum during the 13th and 14th centuries, when Rome couldn’t afford to take care of it

I’d seen a lot about these tours where you get to wear the traditional hanbok clothing at the Palaces in Seoul, so I knew this had to be on the bucket list for our trip! 😍
