2 truths can exist at the same time. 2024 has been the toughest yet most beautiful year of my life 🙏🏾. A year I wish to forget yet cherish every memory! The weapons definitely formed! And the battle definitely felt like mine, cause huh?! 🤔 What I experienced this year personally and professionally turned me every way but loose 😭. I felt like I was on a roller coaster I didn’t ask to be on. Despite this year’s challenges, I can’t help but be grateful and thank God he KEPT me, he LOVED me even when I stopped praying. At some point I was just angry but he still kept me despite 🥹. I’m grateful for my babies! They give me a different type of motivation that can’t be explained 😭. I have my moments of vulnerability. I am very transparent to say motherhood isn’t easy. Our new addition has definitely shifted our lives as of late lol for the better ofcourse 😂 My babies are 12 years apart and are at two separate stages of their life. My daughter who will be 13 soon is flourishing in school and doing her BIG ONE with her extra curricular activities like marching band & basketball. She’s becoming a teenager, her world is her world. She’s has always been an independent little girl even as an infant. She rarely cried lol When I used to bring her to work with me, no one ever knew she was there because that’s how quiet she was. By the time I had to start bring her to work with me she was well over 5 or 6 years old so they are able to watch themselves. BAYBEEEEEE!! My 10 month old son!!!! Complete opposite 😂 he’s going to cry, he’s going to scream for no reason, and just baby coo the day away! He’s BUSY lol If I’m ever in a situation where he has to come to work with me, I’M DECLINING FAST 😂😂 cause no! Y’all not about to be talking about me and how unprofessional the experience was! ☺️ NOPE. It would be hard to put my professional business hat on AND my mommy hat on for an infant who depends on me for everything. Anyhoo! I like to educate & cackle, that’s what we do here ☺️ lol So here’s the education in this: I myself have definitely “assisted” a bridesmaid that decided to do her own makeup out of being “nice” however even though you think this could come off “mean”, don’t do services for someone you’re not contractually obligated to do. There are Liability Risks. Without a contract, you may not be protected from legal claims regarding injury or dissatisfaction with the service. There’s also Health and Safety. A contract can outline consent and any allergies or sensitivities, protecting both you and the client. Protect yourself and your business over being “nice”. Here’s a polite and professional way you can decline next time you’re asked: “Hey I wish I could assist! However, at this time, I’ll need to focus on providing services for the ladies who are contracted with me to ensure that I meet their needs and maintain the quality of service I strive to deliver. Thank you for understanding!” Boom 💥 dassit dassall. It is absolutely ok to advocate for your self and your business and it does not make you unprofessional or “mean”. This is major key! 🔑 A bride should be able to look at your body of work and instantly see your artistry delivering consistent beautiful bridal work! Your artistry aligns with how she she’s herself on her wedding day. This builds trust! 💍 You’re the expert! You as the bridal artist understand the unique needs of bridal makeup. You show up in confidence and it reflects in your skills and experience. Your bride has the upmost respect and confidence that you will be able to deliver the look she desires on her big day! 💍 Lastly, there’s a difference between a bridal trial and a bridal preview (this is something I’ve talked about multiple times on my page, you can simply scroll and see the content). To keep it short, “trials” which are usually booked BEFORE you’ve been secured as their artist are giving, “let me try this girl out (cause I’m not really sure about her, we’ll see)”. Bridal previews which are usually booked AFTER you’ve been secured as their bridal artist give, “girl I found my bridal mua! I can’t wait to sit in her chair and we do my bridal look!
