![One of our local routines in Brussels inspired by the original Stops.
I choreographed this routine a few years ago. It's inspired by the original Whitey's Lindy Hoppers First & Second Stops from New York City. These are classic Lindy Hop routines that, in my opinion, should be part of all Lindy Hopper's repertoire for two reasons : tradition and understanding Jazz rhythm. It's great to teach these early to students for these reasons.
It's worth noting that there's a 3rd Stops recently developed by Barbara Billups and taught by jiveswing.

!['Around the back' airstep
Here is a version you can practice by yourself without the need for spotters. Just take each step slowly and don't jump ahead.
As a base, I don't use my left hand to push on the flyer because we like to combo other airsteps, and it makes it easier... but you can if you want.
About the cartwheel landing position, this is where the flyers can hurt their knees while landing or simply fall, so repeat things slowly until it's solid.
Still keep the flavour in your airsteps, it's still dancing. Avoid the gymnastic landing 😄

![This is my dance story
I breaked competitively for 12+ years under the name AlexKid with prizonbreakrockerz.
At 24, my body sustained too many injuries, becoming more frequent and healing more slowly. Meniscus tears on both knees, labrum tear, broken ankles, toe, tailbone, chronic wrist tendonitis... I even got to a point where I had to take a painkiller before a battle.
My crew came 2nd at BOTY Benelux and I was rather consistent in reaching the top 4 or 8 RedBull BC One Benelux. Unfortunately, everytime I wanted to progress, injuries would stop me.
Around that time, I discovered Jazz and Lindy Hop, which ultimately gave me a new life in dancing for which I'm utterly grateful. Especially towards jill_dmlnr who introduced me to this artform. And now, also pursuing things with my Jazz crew theoldsoulz.
It was the first time I opened a book to study a dance... there was a lot to uncover.
There was actually great joy in being a beginner again, discovering, relearning. It does take time to acquire a new style, to truly incorporate it. I focused a lot in trying to get rid of my]()
