Gotta do it for the gram 🤳 “Ugh it’s so cringe, always watching girls taking photos and videos of themselves for social media, just be in the moment you don’t have to capture everything”. For anyone that has EVER taken content creation seriously I’m almost 100% sure you’ve received this kind of comment at some point. So let’s talk about it If you’ve been following me for a while you know I’m just coming back after over a year, okay almost two.. out of the game. (but that’s a story for another time) Here is something I learned.. For quite some time, I was still travelling but I didn’t create much content let alone post it. This was for various reasons and one of them being I was trying to be more “present” in real life. What I learned was that actually, not being on my phone didn’t necessarily change my experiences as much, and if anything I regret not making more of an effort to pull my phone or camera out more often. My memories aren’t as clear as they were and I have no physical reminders of them. Also, I became a bit lazy.. I slept in more.. wasn’t in a rush to see and do everything.. and yeah it was relaxing, but I now feel like I missed out on opportunities. I learned that when I’m “doing it for the gram” I start to see my surroundings differently.. I start to find beautiful little places and details that I might otherwise not notice. 😍 I get up early and catch sunrises and enjoy cities all to myself that most people miss out on. 🌅 I find cute cafes, hotels, parks and activities that maybe I wouldn’t look for if I wasn’t thinking about content. 🌸 I actually inspire myself to do and experience things that maybe I wouldn’t if I wasn’t purposefully trying to capture it. Now I’m not saying that it’s for everyone, and there always needs to be a balance but I’ve only ever regretted the photo I didn’t take. Forever thinking about this 💭 Hands down one of the best moments of my life. Kleftiko is a MUST if you’re in MILOS! You’ll find some of the bluest water you’ve seen in your life, have plenty of sea caves to explore, cliffs to jump off and natural beauty to marvel at. I mean, Acropolis! 😁 You know those times when you find yourself on a 4-5 hour layover and you question whether you should leave the airport and explore quickly or not bother with all of the trouble of going through customs again.. well this is your sign to take the risk and live a little and go on a spontaneous adventure! (Unless you’re a nervous traveler in which case please don’t give yourself a panic attack listening to that advice 😅🙈) I ended up having such a great little afternoon adventure in Athens whilst on my way to another Greek island, although may not have been convenient, (at all even) it definitely made it into my memory books.
