How good is the insta360 X5 PureVideo mode in low light? Surprisingly good—I’m amazed at the quality you can get from these small cameras now with so little effort. Some of these moments without street lights very dark and it still got perfectly usable shots. So now, you can plan shots you would never have bothered to take before, like capturing the distinct vibe of Manila traffic at night after the rain. fanticmotorphilippines has arrived and they’ve brought some intriguing off-road bikes to the fold, starting with the unicorn-material Caballero 500, a scrambler with real off-road chops and category-leading lightness. At only 150kg dry and a manageable seat height, it could one of the lightest and most easy to ride PH highway legal truly off-road capable bikes out there. An exciting bike priced just right—can’t wait to spend more time on it and tell you what I find. When neewer sent me their HB80C 80W Mini COB Video Light, I figured I’d try something new. This powerful, versatile light comes with an internal battery and can be continuously charged via USB-C, so it opened up ideas to shoot with and even on the motorcycle! Worked with the very talented mr.odulio to come up with some cool dusk/night shots on his beautiful triumphmotorcyclesph Scramber 1200 XE at kapemismo_ in Antipolo. Thanks brantremoyan for letting us shoot there and even lending a hand! The light did a good job balancing with the café lights in both intensity and color temp. Bessang Pass deserves its spot as one of the greatest drives in Luzon. 9 days in Fukuoka & Osaka: my dad planned this whole trip mainly from watching YouTube videos. It was a fun and highly varied trip, with Japan’s incredible train system enabling us to see several places around each region from just two bases, Fukuoka and Osaka. I loved the slower pace of Fukuoka, and staying right by the station in Hakata put so much travel and shopping at our fingertips. Our Osaka itinerary was a bit overstuffed by comparison, especially doing USJ and Osaka Expo back to back. Our Expo experience was not good due to unprecedented crowds, but still happy to have paid a visit! Definitely worth reserving pavilion visits in advance. When it comes to paved roads that any vehicle can (but probably shouldn’t!) pass, this road is likely the highest and steepest of them all in the Philippines. Climbing it even in good conditions on a heavy bike was a hair-rising experience for me, but the views were worth it. Small bikes are best for visiting here, preferably one with good torque and some engine braking. Cars can pass here but think twice because of how narrow and steep these most of the roads are. Unless you’re confident reversing on a steep hairpin, I would avoid it, especially in a big group. Went to Buscalan for the first time last April. Left Friday at 7pm, napped at a nice inn in Atok at midnight to 3am, then took off to arrive at the parking lot in Buscalan at 8am. We had pre-booked accommodations for Saturday and they also arranged a guide for us, Takraw, a sweet and helpful lady. We were told arriving early was a must to sign up and be guaranteed a tattoo from Apo Whang-Od. Got in line to get tattooed after a short nap. This was a bit chaotic and the order of signups was not followed due, frankly, to the opportunistic attitude of another guide. But we didn’t let that ruin the experience, and watching Apo work nonstop with little complaint and rest from morning to afternoon kept us patient. Just seeing her for the first time was quite striking! She definitely has an aura to her. We got our three dots (Apo only does that now due to demand), yes it hurt, and we still had the rest of the afternoon to hike around the pristine rice terraces over the village. Dinner was a wonderful tinola that we devoured. Our place was fancy and even had a full Japanese robo toilet! Place was great, though we had to share the wing with a large, noisy group that, like an old person, I had to politely but firmly shush as midnight approached and they still wouldn’t keep the noise down 🙄 Pinoys talaga, hay. Next day was a long but surprisingly easy and pleasant drive home via Banaue and then Malico. Took the Yaris Cross HEV instead of the Jimny and it was a total breeze to drive all the way.
