I just cracked the code to mamadiam.prinsep which is a cool speakeasy tucked behind a bookshelf in a traditional “Mama Diam”. When I opened up the bookshelf to reveal this place, it felt like a scene from a spy movie! 🕵️♀️
A Mama Shop (Mama Diam) is an old-school, nostalgic convenience store found under Singapore’s HDB blocks. This bar pays homage to that heritage but turns it into a speakeasy—a legal modern bar designed to feel secretive, with a hidden entrance🚪📚
They turn local Singaporean flavours into mind-blowing modern cocktails and food. Think Curry Chicken Cupcakes and classic drinks with a modern twist!!

In Japan, no job is considered “low” or “dirty.” Even the workers who deal with sewage are shown dignity through design. And this respect extends beyond manholes. If you’ve ever taken the bullet train, you’ll know about the train cleaning teams who finish their work in 7 minutes — and they’re treated like performers, with passengers applauding their speed and precision.
This is the cultural thread — pride in every kind of work, no matter how hidden or humble. By turning something ordinary into art or ritual, people notice it, appreciate it, and treat it with care.
Imagine if we did this everywhere. If our cities celebrated the people who keep them running. Maybe we’d respect workers more, and maybe we’d all keep our streets cleaner.

Here’s what I learned the hard way:
🥶 The wind is no joke. Pack a REAL windproof jacket. Mine is from Columbia Sportswear and oh god it SAVED ME.
🚙 Go beyond the Ring Road. The Highlands are where the magic is!
💸 Parking fines are brutal. Don’t be like me, lol! They have QR codes in all parking spots, pls don’t forget to pay even if ur just going to the toilet!
But my BIGGEST win? Booking my flights using skyscanner.india!🙌

🛵 Getting around is pretty affordable: scooters ~$7/₹600 a day, and a rental car for a full day will only cost ~$72/₹6K.
💸 Most waterfalls have a small entry fee (around $1.5/₹150), so keep some cash handy.
🥗 7/11s are everywhere - hot meals, snacks, even vegan/vegetarian options, perfect if you’re on a budget!
💧Carry Liquid I.V. with you! Trust me, the Philippines is already hitting 30°C+ with 80% humidity, and you’ll get dehydrated way faster than you think. This is the same reason I always used to feel sick by day 3 of my trips. Learned my lesson, and now I never travel to such places without Liquid I.V.

I haven’t been back in a while. And I didn’t think it would hit me like this.
But the moment I walked through those familiar lanes of Delhi, it was like muscle memory.
